House of the Dragon covers a period of time where the Targaryen's ruled and dragons filled the skies, known as the Dance of the Dragons.
The Dance of the Dragons, also known as the Dying of the Dragons, was a civil war during Targaryen rule of the Seven Kingdoms. A war of succession between Aegon II and his half-sister Rhaenyra over their father Viserys I's throne, the war was fought from 129 AC to 131 AC.
This series will have will be a feast for the eyes with amazing locations, battles and of course dragons. With a healthy dose of political intrigue and dubious alliances.
I fully expect this series to blow everyone out of the water, when it releases on the 21st of August 2022.

I'll be honest I wanted to see the black dread. They should've started with Aegon showing up and destroying westeros. Cause that would've been epic.
Agreed, I think if they are showing us all these dragons, it would be hard for them to resist showing us the largest of them all. So hyped for the show!
I honestly feel like the 3 eyed raven before Brand will be in the show. And will talk to Aegon the 2nd just like Brand. Show him the past. Cause he wins the war and kills Reanara

The Dance is going to be the first four seasons of this show, and then they're going to go back and do Aegon's Conquest, anthology style

One thing I love about HotD is that each dragon feels unique. They have their own designs, characteristics, colour schemes even different sounding roars
My favorite dragon so far is Caraxes. I fell in love with Caraxes in episode 2 when they featured him roaring in distinct high pitch and making weird noises that are very distinct. We did not see any personality with Daenerys' 3 dragons. The attention to detail this time around deserves praise and applause.
Amy, agree with you 100%. Caraxes is super special. And then also Sunfyre is just gorgeous. Oh my Od, I do love ALL those dragons. They are all just too precious.

The fact that Caraxes eventually holds his own against Vhagar, a dragon supposedly twice his size, shows how fierce he was.
I heard a small theory that The Cannibal was meant to be Maegor the Cruel's dragon, but he rejected the hatchling and left it to run wild.
I heard that one too. I kind of love it!
That would contradict the smallfolk of Dragonstone claims. They claimed that Cannibal was present on the Dragonstone before Targaryens even stepped on this land. That would mean that he was born before 114 BC, the time Aenar moved his household from Valyria do Dragonstone. But this claim is weird and seems unreal, since Targaryens were actually the ones who brought dragons to Westeros. Before them, there were none. Aenar moved 5 dragons to be exact, one of them being Balerion, the other 4 died with unspecified cause, but laid several eggs which hatched into Meraxes and Vhagar. When Balerion died at 94 AC because of old age, he was atleast 208 years old. But presumably even more, since I don't believe he hatched the very year Aenar moved him to Dragonstone. I believe he was atleast 10-20 years old by that time. That would make him around 220 years old. But... Balerion fighted in countless battles, was injured several times and the most important fact: HE LIVED HIS WHOLE LIVE IN CAPTIVITY. Why is this important? Even if we look on real animal's living in this world and time, those who live in captivity often die earlier than those who live freely, even tho they are exactly the same species. So if Cannibal was present before Targaryens, that would make him older or about the same age as Balerion. Since Cannibal survived the Dance and last known sightning of him was at 132 AC, that would make him ATLEAST 246 years by that time. Probably 20-30 years older than Balerion was. And since their lifespan is so big, I genuienely believe he could have lived this long as a free dragon. But it contradicts the claim that Targaryens are the one who brought Dragon's to Westeros. But it would make sense that Cannibal hates Targaryen dragons if the smallfolk claims were true, because that would make him completely different lineage, which only Balerion could be considered of his kin.
Also... It was actually Rhaena Targaryen (daughter of Aenys I Targaryen) who started the tradition of giving a dragon egg into the Targaryen child cradle. She started doing this in 34 AC with her little brother, Jaehaerys I. And continued with hers and Jaehaeryses younger sister, Alysanne. So Maegor I was born when this wasn't a tradition at all.

I HOPE just HOPE!! We get to see a flashback of Balerion the black dread. That’s my favorite dragon especially since it has red and black fire. Also viserys I was the last one to ride him before Balerion died, and viserys never rode another dragon again. I HOPE. They made vhagar look CRAZY with the holes in its wings like she has battle scars, so i wanna see balerion so badly
in the latest trailer of HOD you can actually see holes in his wings.

I'm really hoping they show just how massive Vhagar is. Caraxes is already a big dragon but Vhagar is supposed to be twice the size of him at this point.

The sore spot for the Greens is that none of the green heirs hatched a dragon egg. They might have claimed a dragon, which a dragon seed might do, by taming, as Nettles did, but none actually hatched in the craddle.
And that really helped the greens , since they were riding older and larger dragons at young age..

@@Lookie752 Only because Aegon II chose not to feed Aegon III to Sunfyre along with Rhaenera . He had the chance and he chose not to .
@@Anirudhchauhanzx yeah, if Laena Velaryon hasnt died the greens would be fucked up, the blacks had Caraxes, Sirax and Meleys the Red Queen, all of them huge dragons, but Laena had VHAEGAR, that was as big as Balerion the Black Dread at the time
She would have supported Daemon and Aemond would never be able to ride Vhagear, and that would be game over for the greens

Silverwing is one of my favorites. To see it in action would be a dream. I hope all these dragons will be given justice with great cgi, appearance, personalities, fight and time in the show.

I'm most excited for Vhagar, the oldest (and largest) dragon in Westeros at the time of the Dance of Dragons. While a flashback of Balerion would be neat, I feel that his screen time would be limited and if its with a Viserys flashback, he won't be doing much. Vhagar on the other hand is quite active during the Dance.
You know who I'm excited to see? Them wild dragon, including the mysterious cannibal.
I am getting super hyped up for the series. I am healed from the last betrayal and ready to be hurt again

That is a good point, but personally I am optimistic.
I have faith they will. HBO wants to make money and avoid another disaster/division between the fan base and the critics. In order to do that, and continue the money train, they'll up the budget.
If millions of fans watch it every week like GOT , they will come up with the money to keep it epic!!

I loved the lore when I read the books and the story of the dance of dragons was epic to say the least so I'm extremely excited to see it unfold especially Damon and Amon's fight but I know I'm going to hate seeing the dragons being killed. It's one of those stories that are almost frustrating to watch but you can't help but be enamored with it.

Ice & Fire can get confusing with a lot of characters having the same names, or similar names. Need to see Balerion on the Field of Fire during the conquest and him coming back from Valyria with his battle wounds and 9 ft long injury. The largest recorded dragon came back with scars and bleeding!!! Let that sink in.

if they do show balerion in a flashback im hoping he will look very similar to danys dragon drogon just bigger and all black bc his skull gives of the shape like drogons does and im also hoping that other dragons will appear to look like Dany's dragons did seasmoke in the clip burning the guys on the cliff looked like he might have been a white version of drogon looked looked like it had the smae tail and body shape aswell as the same head shape.

Caraxes is my fav his red color is so sexy and from what I get he is most militaristic?
He's the most veteran out of most of the medium dragons in the series. Only Vhagar, and probably Vermithor, have seen more action than him.

Considering what Daemon said in episode 10 and the fact that 4 dragons will be cut I think I can confidently say that those 4 are Shrykos, Morghul, Stormcloud and Morning.
I can't wait for Gladyr to show up!
King Viceryon is by far my favorite Targaryen of all time, he's too smart for his own good & way to good for his FAMILY!
He road the best of the best on it's historical death bed, I imagine that kind of bond (LOVE!) taught him A great deal about compassion. He's A complex character with lot's of layer's.

I’m loving the new series and seeing all these characters we’ve heard about visualised is amazing. But I was thinking, this story already got it’s own mini film where it’s narrated by characters from GoT. And when Viserys was talking about Old Valyria, I kinda wished the show was actually set in Old Valyria before it’s destruction.

See if had a dragon I'd take him up into the mountains of the Veil and I'd simply whisle him to me. Even if I was 1000 miles away. He'd feel me in danger and he'd come flying. That way he's massive and combat trained, do to him having to feed himself.
21 Dragons if the Dance of Dragons did not happened House Targaryen could rule for a centuries more. 21 Dragons could supply them a number of another generations of Dragons.
If the Dance did happen they probably would have extended beyond Westeros into Essos and would eventually create a new Valyrian empire

Without dragons no one else can even contend. The only ones powerful enough to take down House Targaryen is House Targaryen.

Bro, VHAGAR 1st rider was VISENYA TARGAYEN during AEGON’S CONQUEST, VISENYA rode her alongside his brother who on BALERION and her sister RHAENYS on MERAXES. Then VHAGAR was claimed by PRINCE BAELON TARGAYEN. Before THE DANCE OF THE DRAGON in the HOTD show, VHAGAR was the personal mount of LADY LAENA VALERYON 1st, then after her death the SHE DRAGON was claimed by PRINCE AEMOND TARGAYEN.
