Takes me around 10 seconds (one loop) to recognize a songs pattern, especially if it's a simple hiphop beat where there are 4 chords and one simple scale. U just recognize the scale, shouldn't take more than 5-10 sec, and then play any note, riff or arp in that scale and woala. Piano is not my main instrument but it works like this on all instruments.
