  • Hey Fellas,
None of this video is done to be all too serious... Just a few fellas messing with some saws..
Second I'm trying to figure out editing.... So don't expect a lot here.....
Had Ralphie from ‪@timberandtools‬ and Kenny W from Bowmans Creek saws over to test out and put a few runs on a few.. Couple video corrections, the 500i had on a 28" bar, not the 25 I mention in video. I thought it looked WAY long and verified it was a 28".... One thing to understand. The 500I is a great running saw. Has far more torque than the G366's and possibly the G444... Although it will be close to the G444, the saw is a different animal. The only saw that had more than 2 tanks through it is the 500I, which made it a good reference point. Kenny's orange G444 was having it's first runs. This as usual wasn't meant to be a head to head speed test, just running some saws. You'll see some clips changes in run times as saws got tuned in....
Ralphie had about an hour to stay so everything was a bit ill prepared and rushed as best we could. I did not look real hard on times, but was happy with the performance of all the saws and really the most impressive saw to me was Ralphies ms250, the one that we did not get a scrap of video on....
I'm learning how to edit on the phone, so bear with the couple of dead camer spots. I cannot figure out how to gut those parts out. So you get the little video we had all strung together, which is a massive improvement...

Black 440 seemed to run real good

Thanks Jeff.. I expect a bit more 9nce broken in.. but those 440 builds do really decent. Biggest annoyance is recoil longevity.. the recoil are decent, but not superb like OEM..

That Farmertech was impressive for what it is!
Ive heard you have to let the 500i run-idle for 5-10 min to calibrate before using, thats why it sounded bad. From Buckin Billy Ray Smith

Don't put much faith in the sound on my videos . The microphone is the one from my Bluetooth earbuds.. that 500 had a muff mod too . Its a newer one without a ton of hours.. it runs really well and better than others I've ran.. but to put it in perspective even the g366 clones the blue one will run a 572xp. The 44 clones will beat them by a bit. I'm NOT trying to say clones are better saws. Only that built and modded right they can run with anything.. that's what makes it fun.. for short money you can have a good runner and have fun . We also have a lot of saws with pro loggers and arborists.. the 500 throttle response is amazing though.. I do not see us ever catching that..

@@bulletproofsaws Right on, I run a Stihl MS250 with 24in Cannon super mini bar (piltz hot rod kit). Custom foam air filter, a little extra timing, and muffler mod. Absolutely love it. Super light and sips the fuel. 10 years on and cuts like new. I made a pipe for it and it just screams! Too unwieldy for using in the woods tho. Thinkn about getting a 60cc or 72cc cloner to have some fun with.

Cool video bud, I have a 500i that i use as my benchmark for performance but the last couple saws ive built honestly crushed it to the point that i may have to change my benchmark (660 clones) the last one i built beat it by 3 seconds in a 16" wild cherry round

The 660s are a real tough match for the 500i... At the 3nd of the vid.. somewhere near end is a white 660 rebuild.. OEM chassis, Italy cylinder.. not meteor piston getting its first runs.. was only bench tuned but it seemed about, and I didn't look hard, to be right in time w faster saws . Won't have that one built crazy as we're running a blued OEM crank that is not put a special ported cylinder on for fear of boom.... Very cool your building up 660s.. live seeing/hearing that

@bulletproofsaws my last build I used a dome top piston from a 54mm 056 mag in my 660 clone chassis cut the base to get .18" squish on the edge of the squish band then bevel the inner squish band to match the angle of the dome widen the intake but no other changes radius the lowers open the xfer bridge and raise upper to 25⁰ blowdown widen and raise the exaust to 96⁰ atdc and wide as I could go on the piston skirts it's really running hard and I haven't advanced ignition timing yet so i feel that it's got more I'm going to continue to putter with it and see how fast I can make it I have timed cuts on video so I have a good baseline to see what works and what's just overkill beyond the point of diminishing returns...if I pop it I'll know where to stop on the next one right 😉
