We had something similar, it was "APPLES are AWEsome and GRAPES really SatisFY" with those exact annunciations. That class sounded like a kindergarten class for a couple of weeks.
Madalena Lopez, WOW!!! That’s amazing that you can play an instrument while reading music and commenting. (Depending on what instrument you play) this must be very hard.
My 7th grade year we attempted this and it was a cocomplete success looking back at 2 years later and getting chills down my spine because of how beautiful
my band teacher nearly banned me from this song because I couldn't play the accents on the snare without losing tempo lol. I was able to fix them eventually.
man my 7th grade band rocked this. a couple years later another band from the same school played it and literally won an award for it. our school often beat high schools we were great
OMG!!! This song is LIFE!! Takes me ALLLLLL the way back to 7th grade band, I was a flautist (but wanted to be percussion SOOO BADLY and couldn’t). This was my most very favorite piece to play, so glad it popped up on my feed!!🙌🏽💙💙
We have this song and the flute parts for me at measure nine are hard But everyone was Amazed because I was the only flute so I had to play the high notes. But I played them perfectly
I have this song and I play trumpet 1. I have to play super high notes super fast but the band teacher told my classmates to listen to me when I play because I played them right! It made me so happy!! ❤️
Bro I love Michael, his stuff goes hard. I love playing his pieces in band. Ever heard or played Spy Chase by him? Fire stuff dude. Playing triangle and cymbal in that song was lit. I did snare in this one, I had no experience with snare other than a drum set in my basement, and our usual snare drummer was like: “yeah, cymbal” so I was left as the only snare drummer in the entirety of 7th and 8th grade band. Edit: I wasn't thinking straight. Spy Chase is by Brant Karrick, not Michael Sweeney
Playing this song for festival tomorrow! We are in 7th grade and we have played good during normal school hours, and I hope so badly this song gets us a 1!
I absolutely loved playing this song in middle school, I had the snare and castanet part. It was always frustrating to play in the pencil section with the band not knowing how to play it lol

Me and my 8th grade band is doing this. 10 percussion. 8 trumpets. *1 trombone.* 4 saxophones. 2 clarinets. *1 flute.* *whole band: You feel like you're going to have a bad time.*
I just finished a concert where my 7th grade band had to play this. We sounded absolutely awful. Our clarinets squeaked, our trumpets couldn’t handle the held our notes, and our flutes rushed the entire song.
I know you've probably already played this, but you'll probably end up with 5-6 parts in a piece again eventually, so I'll give you my advice. Line the instruments up in the order you play them, or in a way that makes it easy to switch back and forth. Highlight your parts in different colors so they stand out. Make a legend if you have to. This helped me when I had multiple parts.
PENCIL STRIKING #1 PERCUSSION
We know
lol
As a percussionist, I know In my band, wind woods are crap at percussion. They only hit when weren’t supposed to.
nobody:
band directors who want you to bring your damn pen to class:
Pen!?
I mean, not the bass clarinets. They just pretend their in choir
This is how band directors are gonna get kids to remember their pencils: “if you guys bring pencils, you get to play measure 34 at the end of class”
Sam Mcgrath I genuinely thought I was the only bass clarinet player in the universe
for the pencil tap my band teacher made this up to help us remember the beat " I want TO play IN the BAND every single DAY
We had something similar, it was "APPLES are AWEsome and GRAPES really SatisFY" with those exact annunciations. That class sounded like a kindergarten class for a couple of weeks.
Mine was I want TO go TO the STORE to get ice cream NOW
For me it was just 1 2 3, 1 2, 1 2 3 4 5

Madalena Lopez, WOW!!! That’s amazing that you can play an instrument while reading music and commenting. (Depending on what instrument you play) this must be very hard.
Dollar Derp I know right!
@@MaKenzieRo same
the song where all instruments got a chance to be percussion for a day, with pencils
Mariojoey Gaming Lmao yep we bang our pencils on our stands
MarioJoey not the lower woodwinds like the tenor saxaphone or alto clarinet.
Yess
Yeah accept a few other instruments but toe clarinet definitely does (I’m playing this in my school’s band) and my friend pencil broke XD

When the flutes played recorder in my class it was AWFULLL.... The whole bands ears were dead
Ruby NotMyLastName wait til marching band and we all play piccolos. Coming from a piccolo player - it's hellishly loud
why did the flutes play recorders?
Ruby NotMyLastName, same. I do Honor Band.
Camel Cam, I think the flute players play recorders because the director or the teacher wanted to hear how it sounded.
@@DrobitCD it's actually written in the flutes music

My 6th grade band attempted this and it was utterly horrible
Sounded like ancient animals dying and going extinct

Also my band rocked this one :)
I had a pencil that I would only use for playing the "Tap music stand with pencil." After a while, it split in half.
Playing this song for festival tomorrow! We are in 7th grade and we have played good during normal school hours, and I hope so badly this song gets us a 1!

Played this in freshman year of high school last year and we always screwed up the singing parts because no one would actually do it.
Lol yeah my 7th grade class was not having it
I love the ending so much where it gets all quiet and the chimes play, like the song fades out.
Played this in 6th grade...wow!
Jaeden S., I’m playing this now. I’m in fifth grade

My school band is playing this for our Halloween concert. We’re gonna be lit!
Very simple song. But sounds great :)
Simple they said
It's simple so we only need a few weeks to work on it they said, it would be concert ready by then they said.
Simple I can’t even play a part in there correctly
Played this in 7th grade at a concert, one of my most favorite songs
i playing this
2:25 definitely my favorite part

I love that percussion is a major part of this song.
we’re doing this piece in 7th grade and it’s actually turning out surprisingly good
My band I currently playing this and it is so fun, I've always regretted not picking percussion and I finally get a taste of what it would be like

Is my class the only ones that actually pulled this off? It was so cool
My band director called it “old vocal piece”
After the end of the peice my pencil was covered in dents😂
I’m in seventh grade and we’re learning this song
I have to play snare for this part and am utterly gutted rn, I haven't been getting it down and the concert is in 2-4 weeks.
Amazing Piece! Played it 5 years ago in 8th grade
We learned and played this all in the same day and I was on snare and it felt amazing to have the part I had
I am actually going to play this for my 7th grade concert for spring this year!
I'm in percussion and we have to play this for festival
I'm also in percussion and I'm also playing this song for a festival

Middle school memories are slapping hard
I played the song in 6th grade. It was great. Instead of striking pencils and breaking them, we were told to clap.
My 8th grade band is going for a festival in March and we gonna play this piece
The first day we got this when we listend to the beginning I thought it wasn't good until we got to the pencil tap then I said this was fire
Me and my 8th grade band is doing this.
10 percussion.
8 trumpets.
*1 trombone.*
4 saxophones.
2 clarinets.
*1 flute.*
*whole band: You feel like you're going to have a bad time.*
*pencils enter the room*
*the bad time gets worse*
For us there was only 32 8th graders and 55 7th graders in band💀
10 PERCUSSION??? 😨
We played this for our county honor band, was fun af
Literally all the songs we played 99.9 % of the songs were clarinets mainly played.
maybe because no can hear the clarinets at least in my band class you cant
It would also rock to have a version for advanced Band.
We’re playing this song today for my contest and concert
micheal sweeny made so many songs my band plays
I just finished a concert where my 7th grade band had to play this. We sounded absolutely awful. Our clarinets squeaked, our trumpets couldn’t handle the held our notes, and our flutes rushed the entire song.
I just played this song at our 8th grade concert
I did this piece once In 7th grade, but I also happen to have a very poignant memory associated with it. So I'll probably never forget this song
It's an easy song, but it still sounds really good.
We’re playing this in my band class and I play the snare
We’re playing this now and I’m the only flute
Playing this in school
Everything sounds good and I got gong :D

I’m playing this song in band and we sound almost as good as the actual recording

I love this song because it sounds like a song in a Movies OST
Nice I played this in band
I get to play this in my band concert in December, looking forward to it, but kinda scared. 7th grade band is something else.
