surge Nubrets approach is like calisthenics guys that do lots of sets and reps with basic exercises keeping sets in the 10 to 30 rep range, it works very well for muscle growth BUT it gets very taxing as you increase the volume and you'll burn out after 2 or 3 months, you have to train hard in spurts of 6 to 8 weeks take a week off and repeat

Hi coach Nash. Great physique you have in the thumbnail. I train using Serge Nubrets system and it works for me. Something that always confuses me though is how heavy and how exactly do you go about selecting the correct weight and progressing. How do you know if you using his system properly. Like I understand Arnold and the other guys used volume but his volume is significantly higher borderline extreme. Thanks.

Nubret was an exeptional bodybuilder, and copying his training rune would not be wise. He was also heavy on steroids. Performing 20-25 sets per muscle group is already a lot of sets, and the weight that you use should be enough to perform 10-12 reps but not to failure. You should stop some 2-3 reps before failure. You also have to experiment and fin out the right weights. No one will be able to tell you how heavy you should go in this high volume training system. Best, N

Hello, I disagree with some of your statements. I tried Serge Nubret training after seeing your previous videos (i am french by the way). It ididn't work for me, i tried it for 2 months and i quicly overtrained myself. I had tremendous pump but after the trining the pump quicly fade away. I think that Nubret being on steroids and not working, he could work all day without overtraining. When you say that Mike mentzer was only doing this for business, it is wrong because everything is promotong was backed up by science. Plus when you said that no one benefits from HIT training, it is false because i saw thousands of reviews and feedback of people said that it completely transform their physique, yesterday i saw a guy in his 60's claiming he had won 13 lbs of muscle in a year, we have also Kevin richardson training 15/20 minutes 3 times a week, he is 50 and he is amazing, he has competing and for 35 years he never trained mre than 3 times a week, 20 minute per session. I don't promot HIT but it is just wrong to say that this systems doesn't work.

Thank you very much for your detailed elaboration. Regarding your questions:
1/ I have made it clear many times that Nubret was on steroids and that they helped him sustain such high volume workout. Also, it is important to acknowledge that he was a veery disciplined, determined and genetically gifted individual. He also ate up 4 kg of horse meat a day. So, i think that his shoes are to big for you, and majority of others, to walk in them.
2/ Regarding Mike Mentzer's Heavy Duty, as I said, we have NEVER seen any footage of him training. It was always behind the closed doors. SO you make up your own conclusions. Also, science is proving now that his method is not backed up by science... It was sudo science. You are basing your conclusions on others accounts, I make mine on scientific research and also on real world of bodybuilding. Since I have been on the gym floor for more than 40 years, and seen most of the elite bodybuilders train, I can tell you that for the top results no one can be seen doing his method. People who make some results are not top bodybuilders and their result, although not proven, are usually minor.
3/ I have also clearly highlighted that there will be people who will benefit from Heavy Duty and also extremely high intensity training systems, but that will be rather exceptional, not the rule.
So, thank you again, and please listen to my videos carefully... I did already answered all your questions in the last video, but it seems you didn't listen to all of it or carefully enough.
      Best regards, N

You can over train if on steroids and genetic response is great toward steroids

The type of method to me doesn't matter as long as you recruit the type 2 fibers enough times to stimulate growth. The hard part is how many times you're recruiting these fibers to trigger the growth mechanism.Every ones body reacts differently to stimulus.I've made my best progress with low volume/high intensity, hitting muscle groups every 5 days,3-4days rest per during the week.At 63,I won't grow with out enough systemic recovery.Hope this helps someone.
