    So just got my little BUNdle of joy earlier today, and he is such a skittish fur baby, so really my only tips are give them space, if your all up in their area they are just not gonna feel safe in where they are, I made the slightest movement to readjust myself and get comfortable and he bolted away from me, I felt so bad, but soon a couple hours later, he was eating, and I wagged my finger a bit slightly next to his eye just so he knew I was there, and he didn’t do anything, and honestly neither did I, I feel like in situations like that, sometimes if they are even tolerating your presence then maybe just don’t really do anything except let them know that your there. ❤

    My bunny just passed away a few days ago. He's sister was all alone and seems really sad, I just got her a friend that she shockingly got along with immediately. She ( the new bun) was bred to be used for meat, the person kept picking her up by her skruff, never had leafy greens, and no hay. She unfortunately is extremely head shy and flinches ( I think they probably where picking her up by her ears). She was also outside 24/7 in a tiney wire bottom Cage that was exposed to all of the elements. so glad she can be with me and my family now.

      This is me . I agree. I adopted a 3 year old. And really hard and I have nice dogs but the bunny won’t come around and it’s hard to get him i need to put him back to his pen . It’s frustrating I really wanted a one that was treated better . I know I sound impatient but my issues is I’m tired of it I guess I rescue timid dogs I was just hopeful thinking be easier because I’ve had rabbits before never had issues when I got them as a bunny now decided to rescue one .

He now knows to trust me and will actually now flop around where ever I am in my room. So, if you feel comfortable and your bun is litter trained I highly recommend free-roaming!

    Wanted a bunny since I was a child. When I met my bun he had his drumstick legs sticking out behind him, never seen a bunny lay that way. The lady grabbed him, he jumped from her to me, licked my nose then snuggled under my chin. Instant heart melt. When I put him in his new cage at home he hopped and sniffed around then fell over. I thought he was hurt, but after immediate research I learned about bunny flops! (Of course got rid of the cage immediately after research so he had more space) I was blessed we bonded right away to me but it took my family some time. He warmed up to husband only after watching us cuddle and him give me kisses. At first he would push him away from me, but then one day he started grooming him. Lol. After the bun got used to the noises of my family he warmed up to the kids. Now we are all part of Bonsai's herd! We all get kisses, we can all get him to do his trained tricks. He runs like a puppy to each of us after we are absent. However, my bun does not like small children, he jist stomps at them even though I never let one touch him. Lol. Anyone he doesn't know he will just stare at them from a distant, took him 2 years to warm up to my mom and let her pet him. Now he pulls on her skirt til she bends down to say hi.
    Anyone getting a bunny, go down the rabbit hole and do research. It helps so much. Especially this channel! It got me through the worst GI Stasis. I literally slept on floor level with my bunny for over a week and nursed him back to health from the brink. Also important research where they come from and don't remove from mom too early or their life long health can be affected.

    Honestly, sometimes the best love is distance. My girl is super afraid of us and has absolutely no interest in being friends with us. So while I talk to her I don’t touch her unless necessary for her health.

    I never feed my rabbit from a bowl, I hand feed him every day ever sense I got him so he has never been scared of me before, One thing my bunny is scared of is the laundry room, every time I go into the laundry room he stands outside the door and watches me to make sure I am safe. He is protective just like a doggo.

    great video! my bun was scared aggressive for almost a year, lots of lunging, biting, growling. I didn’t know where to get a rabbit so I bought her basically from someone’s backyard shed and she was out in the rain 🙈🥲 i don’t think she got any handling. Fast forward being super patient and giving her space and love she started to warm up. four years later she loves everyone and lives downstairs. She rules the roost and demands pets and lots of love. (especially treats) shes so moody and funny full of personality. It took a very very long time to get to this point. I think people might not realize how very long it can take to win over a bunnys love. Once you have it buns love with their whole being:)

    Very glad i came across your video. I went to buy two sisters and one for my friend, which is a boy. The boy bunny is around my friend most of the day, so it’s very cuddly and lets my friend rub him always without hesitation. For my two girl bunnies, they come to me when i have food, smell me, lay by me. But when i go to touch them and try to rub them, they move or walk away lol more like run away. I’ve had them for one week as of today. Then again, I’m at work during the day, so i understand how they are not use to me just yet. For my friend, the boy bunny is very welcoming. I can feed them with my hand and everything, but just not touch them.

    Had my bunnies for just over a month and were adopted. Definitely made some mistakes this video clarified on, so I can adjust my approach.
    Only issue.. The big girl is more aggressive to me now after I had to vacuum their space. Which is sad, but they're shedding and the fur builds up around where they sit the most. also, carpet floor so I don't have many options. She also uses the litter box when she wants to. Bought them a new bed and they refuse to use it. So she made it her personal bathroom.. Spent last night cleaning it.
    The little one is okay and even greets me at their pen (in a pen when I can't free roam them), and plays.
    Both were abused by their past owners and were then sent to the SPCA (in Canada) for adoption. I asked what led to them being put for adoption and if they had past traumas. The worker told me they had lots of space and had a loving family so no issue. But she hesitated. I got their Vet records. My poor big girl was starved, found in a cage with no food for 5 days, and the little one also found in a cage had no water for 5 days. So the big girl I think just has a natural distrust of humans so she keeps to herself mostly.
    I tried clipping their claws today and even that was borderline impossible...
    Any tips that could maybe help with the litter box and bed? Or even the distrust?

    My rabbit chocolate chip is a very shy rabbit, I think his previous owner didn’t take such good care of him, or he might just naturally be like that. Something that helped me become closer with him, is actually getting another rabbit! We gave her shelter and she was very agressiv and territorial. With time and care she turned to be a lovable animal. thank you so much for this video. I found a rabbit 2 years ago, he's very friendly but Lucy (Nethie) who I got to bond with him is still frightened of me. Fortunately they adore eachother so she has him for comfort. She gets better but then something happens like i have to catch her for the vets or a brush and she reverts to being terrified when i walk in the room. She doesn't eat all her cecotrophes and she can get in a mess sometimes so we have to go fairly often to the vets to get cleaned up - there is no way she would let me do it. Someone else mentioned about if you have any tips for catching them in a calm way for the vets/putting them in carriers and that would be helpful to hear because both of my buns find being caught for the carrier terrifying and it upsets me too! Anyway, thanks again I am immediately going to try all these tips with Lucy, I love her so much !

    If you have a solo bunny who is skittish try bunny dating them at a local rescue. If they can bond with a more outgoing rabbit they're likely to pick up on some of those traits/feel safe when their partner feels safe. My bunny boy changed completely when he bonded to his little girlfriend and now he love snuggles and head pets when he wouldn't even let me near him before

    Hi! im having trouble bonding with her but there's been so many times where I have to hold her to put her in her carrier to go the vet like today. We have to put ear medication and we had to make her a little burrito and same with her mouth medication and that has sort of broken our bond. I tried to put the treats she likes into the carrier beforehand and she wouldn't even bother so I had to slowly bring her into it without picking her up. taking her out and putting her in my lap to support her enough to get the medication in her ears and mouth was a struggle. she's a calm and confident bunny, she let me get close to her, feed her, and pet her a very tiny bit. Today has been rough for her with getting vaccines and a microchip put into her bc the state requires it. I had to give her the meds today and I have to do it again but there's no way I can do that without being forceful of it for her own good. I feel terrible and like such a bad owner scaring her and ruining her trust in me. But, knowing the meds and the vet are helping her are keeping me a bit afloat. She's been getting used to me and we've made progress but now I'm back to square one...

    Thanks for your videos, they're so helpful! If I may have a suggestion for one of your future videos, I'd really appreciate one about how to get a bunny to get used to carriers/car trips/vet checks or travelling in general. I have a bunny that is really sweet when we are at home, she lets me pet her, we've even learned a few tricks from one of your previous videos! But when I try to lift her up, trim her nails, put her in a carrier or travel somewhere, she freaks out and doesn't fully trust me for several days afterwards :/. She's already 7 yrs old so I'm scared she'll get a heart attack or something every time I try something like that.
    Thanks again for your helpful advice in your videos!

    I was driving through a big park by our house, it’s like a forest with a lake n all that. I saw two big black ears sticking out of the grass right on the side of the road. I told my 7 yr old daughter “Omg I think I just saw a house bunny out there!!” we both knew right then “Oh heck no, we’re rescuing that bunny!!”
    I whipped a U turn & we drove back to where she was hiding. I knew that rabbits are basically impossible to catch by hand, especially in a huge open field next to the woods but we were determined!!
    When it didn’t bolt off as soon as we approached I was thinking “Okay this is def a house bunny, someone prolly disgustingly threw her out”
    The bunny was scared of my daughters quick & impatient movements (obvi) so I told her to take 3 big steps back if she wanted a chance to catch her.
    I sat on my butt in that tall a** grass & started calmly talking. I very slowly inched closer & closer until I was finally able to pet her. I can’t even describe how much she was trembling. It was sooo sad!! I was praying “Please baby girl pllllllease trust me enough to take you out of this situation!!!”🙏🏻
    & THANK GOODNESS YES she let me pick her up (she put up a tiny feet flicking fight) but I could tell she was just so tired & scared.
    We got her home, convinced my husband to let us keep her, & now she’s been our lil Baby Cosmo for 3 days.
    My 7 year old & I spent $130 on all the essentials at Feeders Supply yesterday & Cosmo is now living her best life!
    She is (of course) still very skittish but loves the food & treats we’ve been feeding her & enjoys exploring around my daughter’s room. She does come to us if we’re sitting still on the floor & will let us give her many head/ear rubs.
    Your videos have been very helpful in our journey to make Cosmo as comfortable & happy as we possibly can❤ thank you!

    Anything I can do, he's just in the hut laying around, I put some water right outside, hoping he will do better tomorrow.

    I'll be honest. I just learned that yelling at your Bunny is bad. I have a short temper but they get the best care. I woudo say attention but I've noticed that both are scared of me. I feel really bad about it and I'm working on it. They would watch me every time I move and run from me. They still take treats from my hand but run afterwards. I don't want to be known only for treats but as a friend. I hope this video helps. I'm learning to be patient. Also if you're gonna come for me in the comments. Save it. Mine is just starting puberty and wants to be close and in the same room, but NO touching, except very late when I want to sleep or when I’m standing and towering over him. As soon as I get down he goes away 😅

    Can you do a video on how to pottytrain your rabbit without having to pick them up as much? I have a problem with this, I am currently working on gaining their trust but since I haven't really gained their trust yet it's hard to pick them up so it would be nice to get some tips for that.

    I rescued a bunny that someone had dumped as a pair. After months of me feeding her outside she came inside my house and now I’m trying to litter box train her but my other bun isn’t very happy with me.

    Guys, i need some help... I adopted a bun from a shelter and he was super playful when we met him there. Bringing him home, he became super skittish and now he'll only eat if I hold out his food to him, not out of a bowl. I also see some of his poops are smaller. Does he have GI Stasis?

    I got my bunny two days ago, I called her coco. She’s only 2 months and I think she’s scared of me even though she was very affectionate. Now I feel like she’s always on high alert! And it makes me sad because I want to bond with her so bad 😪❤️🥺

    Love your videos! I have two 10 month old black bunnies. Midnight and Cocoa. Cocoa was the skittish one but he’s a little better now. Midnight is not as skittish BUT Midnight nips me when he’s excited and or wants attention. I’m trying to have Midnight not doing that by just saying in a loud voice NO don’t do that. I don’t know . Also to unfortunately my two bunnies do not get along. They started fighting three months ago after getting neutered and their from the same litter. They use to get along but not right now. Bonding videos are all over the place.

    Can you make a video of what foods you can feed your bunny and what ages you can feed that certain food for the people who are confused?

  • @HeyMariahAnne

    Totally agree with all of this & I wish I saw this video 2 years ago when I got my first bunny. We adopted her at about 2yrs old and she’d been abandoned and was so scared of us, she still doesn’t love being held but is so much more open to being pet and comes up to us all the time. So worthwhile watching her grow!
    Another tip might be getting a second bun for a companion/teacher. About a month after having her we got a second bunny, male, about the same age who’d lived with a family with kids before. He’s suuuuper relaxed most of the time and doesn’t mind being pet - he’ll even come up and demand being pet sometimes! He helped her loosen up much quicker than I think she would have if we kept her solo for the last two years. 💜

    I’ve had my rabbits for 6 months now. They free roam in the living room. They do not liked being pet. It has been so difficult trying to catch them to groom them and clip their nails. I have tried all these tricks to try and have them use to us. I don’t know what else to do. It’s shedding season and we can’t brush them 😔

    I'm so upset right now. I just got my bunnies about 4 weeks ago. They are really good with people, and didn't really run away much or get irritated. I've been trying to let them out of their play pin and into certain areas of the house, but then they run off into dirty/dangerous parts of the house that aren't bunny proofed yet. I just spent 30 minutes trying to get one of my bunnies out from under my bed. He was grunting and thumping his foot at me. I was patient and didn't try to repeatedly grab at him. But now he won't come near me or take food from my hand like he used to. I feel like I just ruined my bond with him for good. I don't know what to do.

    Hey guys I have a problem...... so I have 2 bunnies that are 2 months old , I got them 3 days ago and I heard that if you hand feed your bunny they will bond to you so anyway to the point, when they came I took very very small banana and put them on my hand so they can eat , ok so now one of the rabbit thinks my hand is a treat and whenever I go near him he starts climbing on the playpen fence trying to bite me , I'm so scared to even pet them I can't even change their hay or litter box I'm so scared what should I do to teach him my hand is not treat?? Please help me!

    Hello! I’ve been watching your videos since I got my first bunnies in late 2019, I have commented on your videos once, you did reply! The bunnies I was commenting about sadly passed away in early 2021 because of raccoons. My grandma opened the door of their hutch (yes, I know they can’t be in them but I didn’t have a choice that time.) and they ran out and sadly got killed by raccoons. I got two rabbits again! and this time I’ll try my best the give them the best life possible! My grandma moved away so I could bring them inside.
    My parents allowed me to use the play room for the bunnies, I already have the play pen planned out, I’m planning on letting the bunnies free room the play room when they’re litter trained, they’ll only be in the pen at night or when I’m at school. I have a few questions about the bunnies though,
    1, can you use air fresheners near bunnies?
    2, how much sugar should they get a day?
    3, should I use Timothy hay and alfalfa mix or just alfalfa?
    4, what pellets do you recommend?
    5, what toys do you recommend?
    6, when are they able to have veggies?
    7, how much pellets am I supposed to feed them?
    Also, I’m 13 years old so I can’t be able to do a lot, but I do have about 1,400 so if there’s any stuff I can buy under that amount, please tell me!

      1. No to strong of a smell! I believe organic is fine just keep a fan on

    • @Rat-dk6xn
      @Rat-dk6xn 2 года назад

      2.limit sugar to 1-2 t treats a day and dont feed dairy ! Fruits/hay based treats/dried fruit with no add ins

    • @Rat-dk6xn
      @Rat-dk6xn 2 года назад

      3.I think just Timothy depends on age though !

    • @Rat-dk6xn
      @Rat-dk6xn 2 года назад +2

      4.I recommend Timothy hay pellets but if they were already eating pellets you have to feed that or slowly introduce a new brand

    • @Rat-dk6xn
      @Rat-dk6xn 2 года назад +1

      6. I think at age 5 months and you would have to introduce it slowly !

    Thank you for this video Morgan!
    I have two rabbits at home -i´m free roaming them and let them outside in the garden, if they want to. but since my female rabbit got neutered, she has become suuuuper shy and she dosent have any trust in me or my boyfriend?? has this happened to anyone else?
    When we first adopted her, she was a little shy, but came over it, and we had an easy time calling her name and she would run up to us and loved being pet in the nose. Now she looks at us and runs away... we cant pet her or anything... If someone has good advice (despite the ones that Morgan mentions in the video), im all open to that! Thank you
