I adopted my bun from a local shelter. The workers there seemed shocked I wanted to adopt her! Apparently she had been returned twice. She was aggressive when I brought her home, lunging and trying to bite. I gave her her own space, sat on the floor talking to her, and started giving her treats by hand. She was skittish at first, but now is a free roam bun and loves pets and treats! She is not as affectionate as my previous bun (rest in peace my Lolabun) but she is no longer aggressive and I hope she will continue to improve. I am hoping to find her a companion bun.

I picked up a rabbit that a pet store was struggling to sell. Basil is not aggressive. For a rabbit that may have been hard to sell, he sure has fitted right into our home... 3 more rabbits later to give him the extra company, Basil will surely live out a happy full life xx

Poor thing. Returned twice? Those humans only wanted a toy for the children perhaps and an aggressive bun in need of love and safety to distress was not right. Poor bun. I am happy you adopted her and understood her emotional needs. The emotional wellbeing of a rabbit is as important as the physical wellbeing. Rabbits are affectionate, but they also defend themselves from those who seem to be threats to their wellbeing.

Im so ashamed of myself. My rabbits were sisters. My mom decided to get me one when i was TEN, and my older sister by 7 years also wanted one. We had two of them. They shared a cage, but then they grew and my rabbit started attacking my sister's rabbit. My sister gave up with her and left her to me instead. I had so little knowledge and i know a lot of things are wrong with my rabbits, Ophelia and Dixie. They're four years old, unspayed, hateful, aggressive, depressed, anxious and scared of me. My whole family is scared of Ophelia ( my sister's original rabbit ) and Dixie sometimes even flops when i finally decide to let her out of her small cage. They live seperatedly, have an unhealthy diet, overweight and im pretty sure they are not healthy, too. My parents are too scared they're gonna pee on the rug or chew my chargers (which has happened. I never told my parents.) Im fourteen years old now, and in the past few days I've had several mental breakdowns. I feel like it's all my fault and I'm planning to use my saved up money to buy a large x-pen, many chew toys and everything new in general. I also really want them spayed, but my mom and my mom's friend's veterinarian thinks it's a bad idea. I feel so bad. I wish I've done a bit more research when i was younger. They didn't deserve any of this.
update 2 months later: both of them were spayed, and now im 7 days in the bonding process. they're doing so good. i have an xpen for the bonding sessions and another diy one, atleast 6 feet long, for them to move into when they're bonded. i fixed their diet, too! Ophelia, my sister's rabbit isn't even aggressive anymore if you dont exactly touch her bowl. I'm so proud of them. Please remember if there's a will, there's a way. 🫶

I had been watching Lennon videos and many other bun videos for months when one day I found a cute bunny at a rescue event. When I showed up, the bunny I had hoped for had already been adopted. But then I spotted a handsome bunny but I was told he was aggressive and had been returned because he also did not like being pet. I went into his enclosure and sat down on the other side. Immediately he came up to me and did the bunny thing where he taps me with his nose. He put his front paws on my knee and sniffed me. I felt I understood him. He had been coming to the rescue events for a year and at that event it seemed like a small child and his mom were going to adopt Caspian as he is called. Instantly I knew I had to take him when he ran from the child as it attempted to pet him. A week later they dropped him off and I had everything for him. As he had lived mostly with females he seemed a bit afraid of me at first. He lived in his enclosure for a week before I let him out to roam my room. For some reason he loved it underneath my bed and I had to get him out with a broom (not by pushing him) so he would run back to his enclosure. After another week I decided to just let him live under my bed and become free roam. Fast forward a year and a half. He now free roams the entire house, he has multiple nooks he likes to chill in throughout the day. I now call him my brother as it seems he has bonded with my mother haha. He leaves my room every morning to go wait at her bedroom door to ask for his morning salad and treat. He gets zoomies every few days and he binkies like crazy when it is salad/treat time. He doesn't like being pet or held, but he likes being around us when we are all together in the same room. I love Caspian and I am glad he now has his forever home with us :)

I know your bunny is happy!
A couple of small comments: Folks should be able to differentiate between biting and nibbling. Gentle nibbles can simply be a request for attention or even affectionate, whereas biting is accompanied by a tense body posture and other cues. Also, molting can lead to discomfort and thus to sadness. Try to keep that bunny groomed in this case.

Ty Anton C. You may have just gave me the answer to a question I was asking Lorelei in an email. Since two weeks after I got my bunny spayed/neutered he started being finicky and not wanting to eat his timothy hay or timothy pellets. But he also has started shedding. I had no idea shedding could be as you say here for them. If what you say is the case that could be why he is acting weird about his food. I'm still planning on asking a vet but you just gave me hope that it might not be as bad as I fear. Thanks so much for your post from my deepest heart. I love Lorelei's tips but it's a bonus when her fans also give advice! Thanks again.

@@TerreHauteRemoteGoat he's fine now... I did two things..1. Took your advice and groomed more, tho it ticked him off to no end and he bit shoved me ( I mean grab with teeth lightly and flick head as if to toss my hand away like an unwanted toy). And 2. Finally got orchard hay. Been wanting to try it and he went bat shit crazy on it and now will eat the timothy but uff he prefers the orchard now. He never refuses a naner and can smell them things s mile away and comes running before I even pull the 🍌 out of the bag. But I have no idea of nutritional value of orchard hay and would think timothy still needs to be a priority. However he still wants to change things up,😂

In regards to the bunny poop, the picture you have at 7:04 is from "guide-bunny-poops". While you're absolutely right that consistency of their poops is important, the bottom ones are supposed to be the healthy ones where they do easily fall apart and this is a quote about the top ones from their site; "Darker, more moist poops may be a sign that your bunny is getting too much protein in their diet."

Being lethargic, not eating or drinking. While I was working at a pet store there was a rabbit that I became attached to and she had started to bond with me. One day I wasn't able to give her as much attention as it was a busy day, the following day she was laying down much more than usual and was refusing to eat and drink. I picked her up and gave her some cuddles while checking her temp making sure she wasn't too cold or hot. After putting her down cause we got a customer, she went right back to normal playing eating and drinking 😊

Lilly is free roaming in the living room, she loves it. When I have to go out she usually lays in front of the door waiting for me to get home. She hates it when I go out. She is my partner in crime. I try to get her to come in other rooms with me but she hates the hardwood floors. I sleep on the couch just so 😂can be near her 24/7. I keep telling her we're going to start sleeping in the bedroom soon. She is also my guard bunny, she checks out everyone who comes into my house. I can't ever imagine life without her❤❤❤❤

When I leave my bunnies area of the house he has always(since getting him two years ago) lunged at my feet. I always thought it's cuz he wants me to stay 😅 so when I lay on the bed in his room recently he's been digging up the blanket lunging at me,that's how we play sometimes,I thought it was a game because he often does binkies throughout this playtime🤔 recently he has been hiding more, but eats great, etc I just think as he's aging he is wanting day time to rest and when I go see him throughout day time,he acts like I'm bugging him,as soon as night falls he's happy to play/hang out. So overall I think my bunnies happy and he definitely does get upset with me for clipping his nails because he thumps and then flicked me off ever since he was a baby bun

My bunny lost a littermate recently and this is helpful! I’ve been keeping an eye on him, and he seems to be doing better. Flopping, running around and binkying, following me, eating, getting excited to do tricks, licking me, etc. I think he actually got more attached to me, but he’s now more scared of other people. I socialized him a lot and he loved to be around anyone when his littermate was alive. I’m a little concerned and hope he doesn’t become aggressive towards others. I’m not sure what to do about it.

My rabbit recently lost a littermate, too. My pair was inseparable. After the littermate passed, she was sad for a few days but then got better she started following me around just like yours, but I knew she loved having a friend, so I got another rabbit. All bonding processes are different, but the new rabbit thumped at her for 1 hour, but she didn't care. She wanted to be friends with her. Now they are best friends, and you can't split them up for anything. Maybe you should get another rabbit.

I am fostering two boy-buns (that were originally born in the wild but it was a complicated situation and they needed to be rescued at like 1-2 weeks old). They absolutely hate being touched. They are really happy together and they binky and get the zoomies late in the evening and they always beg for treats. They are totally fine with being around my feet but as soon as my hands come near (without a treat they can grab and run away with) they back off and stare at me like I am being crazy.
I always feel like I traumatise them when I need to catch them to bring them to the vet or when I need to check their claws and teeth and stuff.
I hope they’ll get a long-term home that respects their boundaries and accepts them for who they are honestly because I don’t think they will learn to love being pet

I want to share my experience here, maybe is useful for someone else! I have 3 rabbits, they free roam the whole house and the two terraces 24/7 as they please, I buy them the best hay and food I can find, they also have lots of different toys of all kinds and we love and respect them very much. One of them is very cautious with open spaces and with humans (including me and anyone), he prefers to move around walking under furniture (tables, chairs, tunnels etc) where he feels safer, he always gets tense when we aproach him, usually getting away if you're not carrying any food. It sounds bad but we came to realize that's just how he is. On the other hand he is very affectionate with the other bunnies, loves to stick around them and give or recieve kisses, he flops all day long around the whole house and in his favourite spots, even in the same room with us or very close to us, he just doesn't feel comfortable with human interaction. It's been a year since we adopted him and of course it improved but I doubt he'll ever change this behaviour and suddenly act with us like the other bunnies. And we don't mind as long as he is happy and healthy. Every bun has it's own personality and life experiences (all my 3 buns are adopted from different situations) and it doesn't always mean that you're doing something bad or that the rabbit is unhappy.

I got him a tunnel with a house connected to his pen and a bunch of toys to keep him distracted from his loss but im still worried about everything and mostly his health. Please leave suggestions (my mom said she has a few friends with bunnies and maybe she could bring them over some time so he gets to socialize)

Thank you for this vid! I finally convinced my dad to take Sailormoon to the vet for a check-up Friday ( I also got outta school early, lol) and she is perfectly healthy! Which I was slightly traumatized from Cleo's teeth overgrowing (my bun who passed exactly 2 months ago...) I was scared Sailormoon's teeth would be overgrown as well, but she's ok. 💕 I plan to adopt her a fren since her little sis passed. Once school gets out, that is....then she'll have another bud to keep her company 🥰 Once again thx for the videos you post, your channel has changed my life in the course of three years! My baby will thump, but no so much anymore or he used to nip or even bite me, but that had to do if I would stop petting him, the thumping when he was hungry and I missed his snack time or meal time. Babies need attention all of the time and that means giving them their space.

My bunny, Cleo, whenever she is all flattened out on the floor and I'm petting her, or if she's all flattened out on top of her box, she is always breathing very heavily and I'm not sure why. Whenever I AM petting her, she leans into it and seems content but does shake with her heavy breaths. She will also occasionally out of the blue be very very scared of anyone. Any advice is appreciated! Note; she is a rescue and was found on the side of the road, and was initially very very shy

That wasn't nearly enough, because when I returned from the trip she quickly hopped away and went between the sofa and an end table. When I tried to coax her to come out she leaped and bit me.
Message received. "Get away from me you world traveler. You left me here alone and I'm ticked off!"

It's always painful when we fail our furry friends. We can't forgive ourselves and we continue to hold on to the pain. But if you turn to the Lord Jesus He can heal your broken heart. His forgiveness and love is the only thing that can change your life and give you true peace in your soul. I experienced this when I turned to Him almost six years ago - He changed my life and the life of the bunny rabbit in my care for the better. You can't undo what you did in the past but God can help you have a better future. God is teaching me how to love and take care of animals better and to understand them.

I adopted a bun in June and he is very skittish, so I do my best to respect his space and allow him to approach me/spend time around me only when he wants to. I have a female bunny around the same age for 3 years now and she is very social/clingy in comparison. They get along great, cuddle up and he even follows her around like a lovestruck bun! Nowadays he lets me pet him, but not usually for long, and lets me pick him up for nail trims and grooming. Otherwise he just likes to watch from afar, chill next to the girl bun, or hang out in his pen. He does come out for treats but is cautious to see if I’ll make any sudden movements, before coming out for food. As he likes to mostly stay with the girl bun or in his pen, am I doing the right thing by giving him his space or should I take more initiative in bonding with him? Does he sound depressed? I know he didn’t have the best experience beforehand so I don’t want to push anything, but now I’m thinking maybe he’s depressed and would actually benefit from more attention from me.. (Their pens are always open by the way, they can free roam as they choose. Also I work from home so I’m always around)

I was watching a video about rabbits and their living habits from lennon the bunny and I agree that keeping a rabbit in a hutch is wrong now the issue is I’m from the UK so the rescue centres here don’t agree with the idea of free roaming like when they make them bunnies profile they add wether the bunny likes to be outside or indoors and to me that is also wrong because as much as each bunny has a different personality it’s just wrong to keep them outside yes you can grant your bunny supervised access to the garden etc. But unfortunately in the uk they won’t let you adopt a rabbit without a hutch and a run. Me being me and feeling strongly against that I messaged the rescue centre by email and it turned into a major argument or disagreement I tried to express to them that it’s wrong to tell customers who want to adopt a bunny to buy a hutch with a run first and I gave them details to why meaning I told them that having a hutch for a bunny can cause them issues such as weight gain and loneliness and it can also cause them anxiety as they are outside around other animals that are known predators. But of course because it is England and they don’t have rules for bunnies the rescue centre decided to tell me to just practically shut up as they know what is right for each bunny.. it made me soo angry and frustrated but than I remembered that it’s the UK and there is nothing else I can do it’s just soo upsetting that we as people especially the country I live in don’t seem to understand anything all the UK cares about is making money

He was anxious and territorial, dit bite me multiple times and my daughter too. But i work with him. He was not scared of children and did not hate them. He love my daugther now, but he was not fixed before going to spca. And his bad attitude did not last long after we got him. He is a good free roam rabbit that dont bite anymore. But he stump when something dont make it happy. Like when i say his name and what his doing is bad. Like: pompom stop eating that toy. the toy is never his and always like the favorite toy of my daugther.

And I have no idea what to do. I can't possibly get them separated or give them more space than they already have. my bunny is a little odd, he's affraid of heights so will not jump up onto anything other than the bed, he will not destroy furniture, cards, or cables. He hates hiding in dark places (i have to keep a night light on for him) and at night he jumps into bed with me and cuddles until i fall asleep, i then hear him jump down onto the floor when he thinks im asleep and starts doing bunny sprints back and forward across the room... he's completely free roam, no cages. Sometimes when i go to work and I come back late, he's sitting on the bed waiting for me to cuddle him with judging eyes... I think i should get him a companion but im affraid another bunny wont be as laid back and would end up scaring him.
