I own the Sire V7 1st generation, with his signature on the back. And I'm happy with it. I love the way Marcus Miller plays and his personality. No matter which bass he plays, it always sounds good. The key is "Skills" not how expensive the instruments are.
Marcus Miller is the BADDEST bassman on the PLANET!!!! And he's just a straight up cool and down-to-earth dude. I also agree with Obie that, I could listen to Marcus telling of his experiences in music for HOURS!!!!
I Bought my "FIRST" Sire Marcus Miller bass, and absolutely love it! I also own the Fender, Marcus Miller jazz bass. The " Sire , is a 5 string" the Fender " MM" is a 4 string. I also own a Ivory, white & gold, Musician Stingray 5, and an upright. The Sire, is an absolute blast to play, and the pre-amp, is straight " Sick ". The price! Is unbelievable. Thank you, Marcus. I'm 68, and have been playing, since 14 yrs old. Peace, always be with you.
Can confirm. Bought one of the first 5 strings they made. Fantastic instrument for the money. I'll never get rid of mine. I own basses that literally cost 3 to 4 times more than the Sire and the Sire sounds just as good. Plan on buying another by the end of summer.
Wow, his passion is contagious. And I'm so glad he partnered with Sire, gotta be a tough move to move away from Fender in order to pursue something like this. I already admired him as a musician, but now he definitely got my respect as a person,
Pulled out my V7 5 string played on it. Right out of the box it was Intune and sounded fantastic. First time ever had one out of the box play this well.
He is still this nice, gentle and grounded guy I first became aware of on "Tutu". I have a Sire V3 2nd Ed. but now thinking to add a M2 2nd Ed. Unbelievable basses for the worth of money!
I had the chance to meet Marcus Miller twice, before and after a concert, once at the Seine Musicale in Paris and once at the Blue Note in New York. How not to be surprised by the fact that this great artist with his worldwide fame and his talent can remain so accessible, attentive and coupled with great kindness? Certainly a great lesson to give to artists whose emerging success goes to their heads ! My choice fell on the Sire U5 short scale, an excellent choice for learning the bass when you are a complete beginner !
Thanks to Mr.Miller and Thomann.I tried a Miller V7 and loved the sound.Unfortunately I got a shoulder injury..so Im expecting my new U5 short scale next week. Also, hoping it sounds as good as it looks.I think it will. Thanks again.
What Marcus said about other musicians buying these is exactly why I bought one haha! Guitar player by trade and knew just having a bass would be useful. Picked up a version 2 v7 and now I can't put it down.
Purchased the V7 2nd generation 4 days ago. OMG!! I knew it was special taking it out the box. It just felt different from my other 2 basses. Only been playing for almost 2 years so this was my first venture to what I consider an upscale bass (for my budget) so I am not a pro bassist to say the least but upon playing the V7 for the first time even I, a novice at playing bass, could tell the difference in sound quality from my other basses which I will not name. The difference was so pronounced, I have made it my mission to upgrade my other 2 basses. The V7 has a great sound and I get it, the sound of a bass is 99 percent skill and technique but upon hearing the sound of the V7, it was so inspiring to me that it makes me want to practice my skills and techniques 24/7. What a bass. I was introduced to Marcus Miller through the "Never Too Much" Luther Vandross LP dropped back in the 70's. After finding out he was also doing his own thing "Tales" "M" "The Ozell Tapes" were added to my collection. Fantastic bass player. The man is one of the greatest of all times if not the greatest. I definently plan to go see him the next time is in the Baltimore, Washington DC, area. Keep on inspiring bass players and wannabe players all over the world Mr. MM.
I played one of these beside an Elrick Expat evolution that cost about 3000 CDN and I can honestly say I was thoroughly impressed and just might get the Sire instead
I bought the v3 for the studio. Just to have a super versatile jazz bass whenever I need it. Jazz basses are the best. My bassplayer friend who regularly comes in to the studio has a squier jazz bass and it never disappoints.
Thanks Marcus! Just picked up.a V3 today, I wasn't even intending to get one as I dont care for signature/artist basses or active controls, but its an incredible bass for the money. Once I figured out what all the knobs did, I couldn't believe the variety of tones and the preamp is killer. The pickups are excellent as well. Thin body, decent weight, maple neck, rosewood fingerboard with rolled edges (one of the nicest and most comfortable necks Ive ever played) bone nut, steel bridge...this thing is a steal for $399. Thats only $100 more than the junk Squier Affinity basses sell for. The V3 is better than any MIM Fender Ive owned or played and darn close to American made Fenders that sell for 4 times as much. I have zero complaints, awesome bass.
Hello, I confirm, I just bought myself a Marcus Miller P10 Alder 5 TS, and it's really a great instrument that has nothing but really nothing to envy from other very big brand! Thank you Marcus for collaborating with SIRE to release such a beautiful and good instrument! Meet MIster Marcus in April to Saturday April 2, 2022 at 8:30 p.m. for seine musical in Paris for a magnificent moment.
Because that's his ultimate bass. Keep in mind, it's not just a Fender, it's Marcus Miller's old "special" Fender, it's his "baby". However, he does play Sire basses on stage as well and that's not a rarity. It's not a secret that he likes the Sires as well, he's fine with playing those on-stage.
I was one the lucky ones to buy this bass at $299 when they first came out I'm a funk bass player love funk music and I must admit I didn't really know who Marcus Miller was yea I know what ? I have seen his basses in the music stores but never looked him up cause I wasn't paying that much for a bass so what was the point. Well I always wanted a Fender Jazz and I read the Bass Player reviews of this bass and it was off the chain I was like well for 299 i would gave it a shot so it took like 3 months to get the bass something about they make them by hand one at a time yea yea where is my bass well when it came i plugged it up right out the box and was blown away 5 minutes later I was online ordering a 5 string it took 2 months but the wait was well worth it. All my bass playing friends would come over play them an go you payed $299 AN $399 FOR THESE get the Hell out of here So long story short all my friends have them including my father in law I got my eye on a M5 next.
I love the concept and I love the drive to make it happen.. I have seen a couple Sire basses now and I am not sure what is amiss in quality? Thank you.
They are killer basses. I have two 5 strings a P7 and V7 .... I am going to check out the 10 series this weekend,... Jazz bass or PJ bass,... Hmmmm. We shall see
ooh a $200 MM bass that sounds AWESOME! I may need a new bass soon and that would fit even my budget :) I only wish I could play 1/8th as well as Marcus.
I purchased my " MM" Sire, at " Guitar Center" Anderson lane store, here, in Austin Texas. Got it at a good price, and below a grand. It, also came with a few scratches! Although nothing, that can't be fixed. Sire employees, that ship these basses, " NEED TO DO BETTER". Even though I didn't order mine, I'm looking out, for those, that " DO ". How'd you( shipper/ employee) like to get something, you've wanted, and open up the box, and it's screwed up? Yeah! That part!
There is Sire M7 6 string bass in stock currently at Thoman and i'm considering of buying it...The tone is all Yamaha TRB JP, but for the 1/4 of the price. Looks awesome too. Any tips on the Sire M7 over the Ibanez SR606 which was my initial (and a few hundred euros cheaper) choice?
I own a V7 4str. ... GREAT instrument, especially when you compare it with a 1974 Jazz Bass (my first). But mine has serious preamp issues... as in severe battery drainage (2 days... sometimes less). It has been inspected once by Thomann, with no real improvement. It's due to go back a second time. Hopefully, this time, a real drainage test will be performed?
oh this is killing me ... i recently decided after years of agonising i would go for an american elite jazz ( just under 2k ) ... now this ...dammit same active / passive ... its a jazz ... roughly the same 18 volt pre amp essentially i need a jaco mixed with geddy lee with a side of mark king ... and at this price i can get more toys .. aaaargh !!!!
If there were no dislikes at all it would be unnatural. It would happen in an ideal world where all the people would be smart and hearth honest to themselves and to the others :-) But, we live in the reality and we know there will always be some garbage around...
I'm so curious what Marcus brought to this bass himself, because folks... these basses already exist for years! under the brandname Dame... Check this website and tell me I'm wrong. 5-Knob EQ. Even the headstock is the same: damestore.com/product/list.html?cate_no=34
Could listen to Marcus telling stories for hours on end!
Not so expensive but good quality... I love this philosophy

Selling my Ibanez SR600 to go towards buying one of these.

Love Marcus, such a cool dude and an amazing bass player. Bought the M7 last yera and I couldn't be happier.
super unterhaltsames Interview. Marcus könnte ich stundenlang zuhören ... egal ob er spielt oder Geschichten erzählt. Nice.

Thanks Marcus Miller and Thomann , a nice Story ! Music is Magic ! 💕💕💕
The M series is like a work of art!
Trans Blue M7 is mesmerizing.💙❤️💙🎼🎶
I bought the first V7 2nd gen that came into sweden. Sounds, feels and looks great!
Great video! Marcus is "must-listen-to" bass player with a wealth of knowledge presented in a classy way. Thanks!!!
I got one too. I love it, my band loves it.
Don't ya just hate it when the band likes your bass more than they like you?
I have Sire P5 MM and it’s awesome, thanks for having the balls to stick with Sire🎸💪💪💪👍
What do you mean by “balls to stick with Sire?”
i bought a sire v7 2ng gen it is Great thanks playing for 40 years
I played one of these beside an Elrick Expat evolution that cost about 3000 CDN and I can honestly say I was thoroughly impressed and just might get the Sire instead

Just picked up a used V7 natural ash yesterday. Sounds and plays great
My 5 string Sire 2nd Gen Ash/Maple P7 is a dream come true!!!
These bass guitars are AMAZING!
What a nice guy Marcus is. Great, great bass player. I'm interested in getting a Marcus Miller Sire bass for sure!
❤
WOW so awesome
It's got a great tone
I found and bought a used Sire V3 on eBay, can't wait for it to arrive.
Marcus you obviously can play like a demon but I also love the way you want your basses to be good value for a fantastic bit of kit, well done mate
I have 2 Sires. Beautiful instruments and best bang for your buck 🤘
i love mine, really happy for choosing it.
Man I can leasing to this man talking all day long. What a knowledges guy of the bass world.
I remember your univox bass! you still sounded great.
I bought the v3 for the studio. Just to have a super versatile jazz bass whenever I need it. Jazz basses are the best. My bassplayer friend who regularly comes in to the studio has a squier jazz bass and it never disappoints.
Marcus… ❤
I got my m7 2nd gen 4s and that is a killer beast!
The sound is getting there!!!!
Can confirm. I had a USA Fender jazz, but then I got a Sire V7 to have a backup - long story short: the Fender now has a new owner.
He's BAD!! 🔥
Most enjoyable guy! And what a bassplayer!
If I buy one, will I play like him. 😂😂😂😂.
Marcus is the bomb. Those basses are killer.
When he went to drop d that shit was so hard
The track's title is Blast, it's one of my Marcus Miller favorites of all time
Very nice!
Thanks Marcus! Just picked up.a V3 today, I wasn't even intending to get one as I dont care for signature/artist basses or active controls, but its an incredible bass for the money. Cannot believe dude is 60 years old. He looks 20 less.
Novaldex It’s the bass power
10 less, in great shape. :)
Black don’t crack🤷🏾♂️
That’s how you’re supposed to look at that age. Guys age slower too.
He's looked the same for like 40 years. I never really thought of that before. 😆
7:21 down to D... nice
What a great sound!
Mr. Miller, you are, The Man !
I started with a Univox too. And Univox 1x15 amp. Not the best, but it got me going.
i play the v3 its a great Bass
I'm sold.
Dude. My first bass was a univox too. Wish I still had it.
Not sure the kid should be wearing a “Gearhead University” tee if he’s never heard of Univox. Then again, this may be a geographical thing.

R-E-S-P-E-C-T !!!
My first amp was a Univox.. solid state head on 4x12 cab… year 1974
In this video it's a V7 or V7 vintage model ?
why is Marcus playing a fender bass on his live show? ive just bought a sire r3 acoustic guitar so id became interested thank you
Because that's his ultimate bass.

Super ausome.
Strangely humble he is. I would describe his playing as smooth thumbing precise plucking.
v3 and relly good
tanks Marcus your great
What a really nice man.
I think he did a bunch of drop D with Miles, if I'm not mistaken. Tutu and stuff like that.
I really like my V3. The quality is way better than anything made in Mexico that I've ever owned.
I’m not even a bassist and I want one :)
Julia has one!
//Andy
Bought mine a week ago and can't put it down. P7 second generation 5 string
Legend!
ooh a $200 MM bass that sounds AWESOME! I may need a new bass soon and that would fit even my budget :) I only wish I could play 1/8th as well as Marcus.
Maybe if we play together, we can achieve a 5% MM skill rating?
//Andy
next time I come to Austria we'll see :)
Just curious. Is Sire the name of the basses or co.? Origin please!
@15:06
MM: "the neck is roasted"
me: whoooooaaah that's so cool I always wan..
MM: "like a chicken!"
me: wait what?
What an absolute legend

If they were went to meet Victor Wooten we could have 24 frets P-J bass as a standard model.
Wooten would never leave Fedora.
Did fender give Marcus MILLER a signature bass?
There is Sire M7 6 string bass in stock currently at Thoman and i'm considering of buying it...The tone is all Yamaha TRB JP, but for the 1/4 of the price. Looks awesome too. Any tips on the Sire M7 over the Ibanez SR606 which was my initial (and a few hundred euros cheaper) choice?
its the hands and bass mann
Why doesn't Marcus himself use these basses..?, they have his name on them.. All I ever see is him using his Fender..
they paid to use his name lol not to make him play them 😂😂😂
The question we all want to know... what happened with his Fender deal?
Fender said he had to choose 04:14
Is it true that none of the new Sire MM basses have a glossed maple fingerboard? That they're all satin? I want the gloss!
I have a Sire V3!
The sire PJ series is the mother of all sire basses.
HOLY SHOOT BRO, wow!
My first bass is Sire V7
This is a very, very, cool guy.
I own a V7 4str. ... GREAT instrument, especially when you compare it with a 1974 Jazz Bass (my first). But mine has serious preamp issues... as in severe battery drainage (2 days... sometimes less). Turn the preamp off when you're not playing. That might help.
@@halcop , really... and also unplug the instrument, yes?
@@yakyoutuby Unlike passive basses, you must unplug your bass when not playing.
Swap ground wires on the jack....the battery minus wire should be connected to the ring..middle lug...
I was wondering what happens while playing active and the battery went empty. Can you swith right away to play passive and keep having sound?
oh this is killing me ... i recently decided after years of agonising i would go for an american elite jazz ( just under 2k ) ... now this ...dammit
same active / passive ... its a jazz ... roughly the same 18 volt pre amp
essentially i need a jaco mixed with geddy lee with a side of mark king ... and at this price i can get more toys .. aaaargh !!!!
Are sire basses made in US?
I will NEVER play a 7ender again after playing and owning my SIRE P7. Simply the most amazing classic style bass I've ever laid my hands on.
Ken Smith made the first 5 string for Anthony Jackson. Alembic made the first ever 5 string.
Carl Thompson
Grande umanitá❤
THE JAM 7:35
Slap it hard.❤
“Blast!” is the track. Not sure which CD it’s on.
And why are two amps on?
If there were no dislikes at all it would be unnatural. It would happen in an ideal world where all the people would be smart and hearth honest to themselves and to the others :-)
