I think a big part of it is jealousy. Linda worked hard and is now retired she did great investments and doesn't have to work again for her whole life if she doesn't want too. Joan on the other hand had all her homes extensive wardrobes all over the place lived the lifestyle of a jetsetter undoubtedly blew all the money she had made and now has to keep working just to survive.
Linda was also single and had no children. Dynasty was a godsend for Joan who not only had three children to support, but also had a mountain of debt prior to the show when her daughter was hit by a car. Joan stopped working and she and her third husband lived in a trailer beside the hospital, never once leaving her daughter's bedside. Her 1987 divorce from her fourth husband was also very expensive and Dynasty ended its run not even two years later.
Joan is the one who badmouths Linda. Linda doesn't badmouth Joan. It shows you who is the classy one and who is the one who wants her name in the press.

She did not really bad mouth her here but she definitely has other times. And Linda never says anything bad about Joan that I have ever heard
