Ahhhh THANK YOU!!! I KNEW there had to be some connection or pattern there with “Mad” and “Hel”, but I couldn’t figure it out. “Ern” was the missing piece. :)
"Could you just not breathe?" 😂 "From Newark..." 😂 There's so much good, I don't know where to start. There's the perfect amount of over the top camp and serious acting. Yes, Meryl Streep marathon, and a Bruce Willis (poor guy) one. For the time, the effects are great.
This is my one of my most favourite 90’s comedy. Ta, for letting your fans know this wasn’t the First watch! You mentioned Six Feet Under: is there any chance for reactions to it? I’d LOVE that! Not enough people remember that superb series.
"37 years later" - 2029. When I saw this movie in the theater and was a mere 38 years old, I was the only audience member to guffaw at the line "NOW a warning?!?" and Meryl's delivery of it. So many great catty lines between Goldie & Meryl. And David, you throw some good ones at Marc; don't forget he knows where you sleep. Watch out if he starts buying extra life insurance policies on you just like those Dateline cases.
Fun Facts: Another female in Ernest's life was completely cut from the film. She was Toni (Tracey Ullman), a bartender who ends up being Ernest's wife. She had 4 big scenes. You can see some parts of it in the theatrical trailer. Robert Zemeckis completely removed the moralistic subplot, resulting in many cut scenes. Also reshot the entire ending. (The original ending took place in Switzerland, 27 years later) Lisle, in a deleted scene reveals to Ernest that she is actually 600 years old. She lied to Madeline earlier. Madeline paid a million dollars for the potion. In a deleted scene we find out Helen actually lost all the weight herself... before taking the potion. She also mentioned she had herself committed.
The other clients looked so good because they never died. The potion keeps you alive forever by magical means. When Mad and Hel died, their bodies began to rot like any other corpse. They became the living dead.
She Devil?!?! No one ever remembers She Devil! That’s why you’re my fav reactor. Movie choices? Killin it. Obscure references used for maximum comedic value? Nailing it. Puns? On point. Can’t get enough!
Thank you! Very underrated and fun movie. One of my favorites that I have watched since I was a kid. I would love for them to watch that on the channel!
THANK YOU!!! This was my first experience with Street as a conic actor and she was hilarious. I think I watched this movie a million times when it was on cable. Lol!
Ok, first of all, LOVING the incredible decorations in the studio/living room. J’adore! Goldie in a fat suit, watching Madelyn die over and over is still absolutely hilarious! “Is it up yet” as he’s handed a huge Bloody Mary 🤣 Joining y’all with my own “peach tea”. I am SOOOO ready for a Meryl Streep marathon! May I suggest the fantastic “Postcards From the Edge”. Marc’s Birdcage line,”How Egyptian” 🤣 I’m dead!
In a deleted scene (during the morning) the maid gets into the kitchen, opens the fridge door and finds Madeline in there all frozen, she is pissed off. The maid runs to Ernest who is sleeping on the couch and goes "DR MENVILLE?!" "MORNING ROSE... IS IT UP YET?" "YES SIR... IT'S IN THE FRIDGE!" In another deleted scene Ernest is at a bar with his barmaid friend Toni and the tv is on.. Mad's voice suddenly sounds "What are you doing hereeee!!"... Ernest almost jumps off his stool... but then sees it's the same Dark Windows movie that Helen was watching earlier. Toni wants to turn of the tv, but Ernest tells her not to... then when Madeline has been killed he tells her she can turn it off. 😅😂
I first watched this movie after having seen Meryl Streep in She-Devil and I knew she can do comedy. Fun trip on memory lane with Death Becomes Her. Have a fun spooky season!
OMG Thank youuuu! You're reacting to my favorite movie where no other reactors even want to watch it. After Fried Green Tomatoes, I swear you are nailing it every time.
Spooks and Booze season already! I can’t wait to see what choices you have made for this season! Yay! Thanks for the review it’s always fun laughing along with the two of you!
Meryl Streep wanted/needed to do this movie. She said she had done so many dramas, it was getting to her. After “Sofie’s Choice”, she went into a deep depression and it took her a long time to shake that one off. So, she wanted to do something fun for a change and she got this. I remember her cracking jokes because for her to be turned around, they had to do a practical effect. Which means they had to do a complete molding of her whole head, she had never got to do things like that before so she had a great time! Goldie was nominated, I think three times for an Emmy for “Laugh In” but didn’t win. She won the Oscar for Supporting Actress in “Cactus Flower”. It came out in ‘69 and won in 1970. She was nominated for Best Actress in 1981 for “Private Benjamin”. She was nominated 9 times for a BAFTA award, but only won once for “Cacrus Flower” in a LEADING Role. Isabella Rossellini was more of a model and usually only did sensual parts in movies until she did David Lynch’s “Blue Velvet”, which won her an Independent Spirit Award for Best Actress. She won the Saturn Award for “Death Becomes Her” for Supporting Actress. She also won the Golden Camera Award (Germany) for Best International Actress for “Fearless”. Rosie Perez stole the show in that one though and was nominated for an Oscar for Best Actress (and man, did she deserve it!!)
Sydney Pollack directed “The Slender Thread”, “This Property Is Condemned”, “They Shoot Horses, Don't They?”, “Jeremiah Johnson”,”The Way We Were”,”Three Days of the Condor”, ‘Absence of Malice”, “Tootsie”(acted in it too. Stole scene from Dustin Hoffman), “Out of Africa”, starring Meryl and many many more. RIP.
I agree, I love the range all the actors and actresses have and presented in this film. I too love Streep in DEVIL WEARS PRADA. I haven't seen this one in a while myself and because of what I know Willis and Hawn to look like in most roles I almost forgot it was them. Truly a classic that needs to be revisited. Loved the reaction!
I have always loved this movie and am so glad to be able to watch it with y'all. I love how much Marc is coming out of his shell. In the HP reactions he was so reserved and now he's just glowing 😊
Still an amazing movie after all these years. One of my favorite Meryl Streep performances is ''Doubt'' with Philip Seymour Hoffman, Amy Adams & Viola Davis. You & Marc should watch one day ''Ruthless People'' (1986) together, one of my all time favorite comedies....(made me think of while watching y'all reacting on ''Death Becomes Her'')
One of my fav Goldie Hawk movies is First Wives Club. If you haven’t seen it you should add it to your list!!! I also love what I think was her first movie, a Disney movie, call The One and Only genuine, Original Family Band.
Goldie Hawn received a golden Globe and an Oscar in 1969. she has been acting for 56 years. “Goldie Jeanne Hawn (born November 21, 1945) is an American actress.[2] She rose to fame on the NBC sketch comedy program Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In (1968-1970), before going on to receive the Academy Award and Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in Cactus Flower (1969).”
OH EM GEEE!!! I’m so excited to watch this reaction!!! I’m working from 12pm-10pm today, so I’m trying to watch it on my short smoke breaks, so it’ll take me a bit to finish it lol
@@DavidvsFilm ohhh it was fantastic!! But no surprise there, your reactions are always gold 😉 y’all both had so many funny comments & you had one dad type joke that made me cackle, I just can’t remember exactly what it was right now lol but it was great
Goldie Hawn was also in "The First Wives Club" with Diane Keaton and Bette Midler (fun movie). She was in a serious movie called "Deceived" that has a fabulous twist and is well worth a watch! The movie "Foul Play" with Chevy Chase and the wonderfully funny Dudley Moore, "Seems Like Old Times" (again with Chevy Chase) and with Mel Gibson in "Bird on a Wire". She's really had a long career as an actress considering she started out as a dancer on Rowan and Martin's Laugh In in the 60's.
Second!😂 You both how much I adore you guys💚...this movie is fantastic. I remember the special effects with the hole in the middle of the body was a big deal back in the 1900's.😄 I love how Marc is asking realistic question like why would the FBI be there?😂😂
Isabella Rossellini was in Blue Velvet (1986) with Kyle MacLachlan and Dennis Hopper, directed by David Lynch, which means it's a weird one. House Sitter is my favorite Goldie Hawn movie. She and Steve Martin together are sharp and hilarious. Did either of you watch Moonlighting on TV in the 80s? Bruce Willis was just a kid and so funny. He upstaged Cybill Shepherd who was supposed to be the lead or main star or whatever. No one had ever seen Bruce Willis before and he stole the show.
It doesn’t fit in with Spooks and Booze month, but you may want to add Soapdish to your list of potential movies to watch. It has the same vibe as this one, with Sally Field, Kevin Kline, Whoopi Goldberg and Carrie Fisher. Loved this time with you! Peace … Ooh, and Postcards from the Edge, also starring Meryl Streep, with Shirley MacLaine, based on a book by Carrie Fisher.
Notevery reviewer gets the meat of this movie. It works on many levels, not least as a take-down of the craze for "surface youth". I appreciate that you two appreciate it!
Love it!!! I remember seeing this in theaters with my Mom. Good memories and great movie. Bring on the Streep marathon! I am always up for more Meryl. I love She-Devil as well. Some other Streep favorites The River Wild Out of Africa Julie & Julia Silkwood A Cry in the Dark Marvin’s Room The movie Goldie won her Oscar for is called “Cactus Flower” from 1969, it was her big screen debut, if I am not mistaken. It also stars Isabella Rossellini’s mother Ingrid Bergman and Walter Matthau. It is a great comedy.
Have you seen ‘What Ever Happened to Baby Jane?’? I’ve seen so few reacters doing this movie, and it would definitely be a movie to watch for October Spooks and Booze! I’d love to see/hear your take on it!
Omg I LOVE this movie. I remember watching it on TV when I was a kid, and totally thought people did get giant holes in them if they were shot 😂 Also, I love making a ghetto white wine spritzer. I have a Sodastream, so I'll carbonate some water, pour it into my white wine, and tell myself I'm drinking champagne hahaha
Happy Movie Tuesday, David & Marc! 😊 This is such a fun movie. Yet, also appropriate for the Halloween season. You really can't go wrong with Bruce Willis, Meryl Streep, and Goldie Hawn in the main cast. Another fun and campy scary movie that I very highly recommend for the Halloween season is the 1984 movie "Night of the Comet". Looking forward to the next reaction. 😊
Hahahaha "Happy Movie Tuesday" (sorry, covid delayed me this week!) I really am trying to stick to Mondays and Fridays, but you know, best laid plans and all. I had not even heard of Night of the Comet until this weekend! I put it on the list of contenders- thank you so much my friend
5:28 Cops helped me to evict two overstaying boozers I had thought were friends. In my case they said they couldn't DO the eviction but would stand by me as I said it to them.
So fun! I had to watch this without Mike because he's never seen this, but I'll bring him back when he gets around to it. Also can we talk about the over the top double take at 17:45? 😂 Just kidding, Mike decided to watch it anyway to get a feel for the movie! I just had to fill in the gaps. 😊
Happy Halloween to you, David and Marc! Spooks and Booze...or Boos! 👻 "Earnest, you pushed me down the stairs..." Such a fantastic movie! Can't go wrong with any of these three. I'd love to see you react to Overboard (more outlandish moments from Goldie) or Nine to Five (Dolly Parton, Jane Fonda, Lili Tomlin). Keep 'em comin'...
Happy Halloween month to you!!!! I am so excited, you best believe!! :) I am totally down for watching BOTH of those! They would be like this one in that we have both seen them (Nine to Five I watched with Marc after he enjoyed Grace and Frankie so much; we haven't watched Overboard together, but I suspect he's seen it since he mentioned it).
"AHHHHHHHHHHHHH! WHATAREYOU*NUTS*?!" 😂❤😂❤😂❤ I think y'all might like a Bruce Willis/Kim Basinger movie called, "Blind Date." 😅 "Madhouse" is another good one: Kirstie Alley (may she rest in peace). Another movie that fits the kind of zany, camp movie you want to see more of is, "Men At Work" (Charlie Sheen/Emilio Estevez).
I love this line!! lol. I totally forgot about that Blind Date movie, btw!! I can't remember if I saw it, or just parts of it, but I wouldn't be opposed to checking that one out. Or Madhouse or Men at Work :) Thank you!
Have you seen The Devil Wears Prada? At least 90% of that movie's success is Meryl Streep's performance. Oh, and if you haven't seen Isabella Rossellini's series of nature education shorts, "Green Porno", those are absolutely worth seeing. I think they're still on RUclips.
Oh HECK yes we've seen Devil Wears Prada.. to the point that we quote it randomly during life events (when I find a random $5 bill in my pocket, and I say "Everybody wants this life...") lol And thanks for the heads-up about Green Porno!
I'm writing that Universal Pictures should give Death Becomes Her a special Blu-ray release that would include all 25 deleted scenes that were cut from the film and including the film's original Switzerland ending as special features.
One of the best Meryl movies is relatively unknown. "The house of the spirits" also starring Glenn Close, Winona Ryder, Jeremy Irons & Antonio Banderas. Wonderful movie.
one of my favorites, If you loved Meryl in this film, I must recommend the film She devil from 1989. she's hilarious in that film. since it is spook season I also wish to recommend a cute comedy with gene wilde called haunted honeymoon.
@@Belladonna313 Thanks!! Love returned from Houston. Completely agree, btw! We have been “background watching” old eps from the post-Brooks cancer scam era; just finished the Ireland trip haha.
This movie totally stands up, a unique story with a great cast. Throw in the special effects and you have a classic. Just wait until you see Meryl in Only Murders In The Building - just the first 10 minutes alone are amazing. I always did have a crush on Bruce. I can totally see why Goldie would be hot for him.
Hey Jeff!! Yeah, I need to get caught up on Murders in the Building so I can get to the Meryl season ;) I loved so much about what I saw already, and I was especially impressed with Selena Gomez. Also, I'm not sure if you know the character actress Jackie Hoffman by name, but I love her as well.
@@DavidvsFilm The fact that Selena holds her own against Steve and Martin, and everyone else (!!!) is impressive! Who knew? Jackie is also spot on in the series. She has a larger role in the 2nd season. Michael Cyril Creighton (Howard) is promoted to a regular in Season 3. It would be a great series for you two to view/review on your channel.
First!!!! I have not seen this movie in years!! ❤❤❤ oh! Have you seen ”Fried green tomatoes ” ? If not please!!!! Watch it with us and Marc! Marc will like it!
If you haven't PLEASE watch The Bridges of Madison County which has Meryl Streep starring opposite Clint Eastwood who also directed and produced it too. Its absolutely fantastic such a beautiful piece of work. Its perfect. ❤❤❤
Yes! I literally just saw a picture of a bumper sticker that read, "Honk if you'd rather be watching the 1992 cinematic masterpiece 'Death Becomes Her'"
I love this movie, I haven’t seen a lot of reactor react to this movie 😊. I hope u guys do ghost ship that’s a other movie I haven’t seen reactor react too
Trenchcoats were more common in the 40s and 50s and earlier. Bruce Willis is wearing a trenchcoat only because this is a comedy. It wasn’t common place in the 90s.
Oh let me tell you- I laughed some of the hardest I ever have during Sweetest Thing lol. I remember seeing it at a friends house when it came out, and it was the best. I don't know if Marc has seen it though.
It's so funny, fingers crossed Marc hasnt seen it, he'll love it. I love the song they sing at lunch.. 🎵 You're too big to fit in here, too big to fit in here.🎵 Once it's in you're head you cant get it out 🤣 I hadnt seen it in years, I forgot all about it, then the song popped in my head randomly and I just had to watch it again. 😁
I love that their names are Madelyn, Ernest, and Helen because their nicknames are Mad, Ern, and Hel. It’s meant to be Madder than hell.
Ahhhh THANK YOU!!! I KNEW there had to be some connection or pattern there with “Mad” and “Hel”, but I couldn’t figure it out. “Ern” was the missing piece. :)
I never thought of that. 👍Thx.
I actually think is a Mad Hell Nest
Or Meh
"Now a warning." When I first saw this, I laughed like crazy.
Hahaha awesome. Yeah this movie is just so good
I agree David...wish more movies these days were as beautifully acted AND creative and original. This is a modern classic i.m.h.o.☺💚
Compleeeeeeetly agree
"Could you just not breathe?" 😂 "From Newark..." 😂 There's so much good, I don't know where to start. There's the perfect amount of over the top camp and serious acting. Yes, Meryl Streep marathon, and a Bruce Willis (poor guy) one. For the time, the effects are great.

You mentioned Six Feet Under: is there any chance for reactions to it? I’d LOVE that! Not enough people remember that superb series.
Six Feet Under is one of the few series I watched all the way to the end. Loved it.
"NOW a warning??" is my ABSOLUTE favourite Meryl Streep line in her entire filmography. 😄

I didn’t see myself subscribing to another reaction channel, but heck, guys, you are HILARIOUS, I had to subscribe 😂🎉❤
Hey there’s always room for one more, right?? lol. THANK YOU though!!! So glad you’re here 😁❤️👍
@@DavidvsFilm that’s for sure. You make my days better :)
Omg I LOVE this movie. I remember watching it on TV when I was a kid, and totally thought people did get giant holes in them if they were shot 😂 Also, I love making a ghetto white wine spritzer. I have a Sodastream, so I'll carbonate some water, pour it into my white wine, and tell myself I'm drinking champagne hahaha
hahahahaha atta girl on the spritzer! And I totally thought the same thing about the shotguns lol.
Yessss yess yes! This is one of my favorite movies, it’s so weird and dark and funny, just a classic.
This camp classic deserve more and more recognition
Hear hear!
9:30 ... Isabella Rossalini was in White Nights w/ Mikhail Baryshnikov & Gregory Hines. Good movie if you like dance.
Thumbs up as soon as I clicked. LOVE this movie and love you guys 😁
Aww thank you so much!! This kind of movie is always a good time, right?? Much love back to you!
@@DavidvsFilm I've seen it so many times, I could reenact it. You two have great energy and hilarious comments. Your videos cheer me up. Thank you 😁
Why is it all of sudden people are just now finding this classic? Where have you been?? 😂
There’s never a wrong time for Death Becomes Her! ;)
@@DavidvsFilm very true and it was a funny commentary
@@tsilva2183 Thank you so much!! Really glad you watched and grateful for your comment.
Happy Movie Tuesday, David & Marc! 😊
This is such a fun movie.
Just kidding, Mike decided to watch it anyway to get a feel for the movie! I just had to fill in the gaps. 😊
Oh this will be fun. Sorry, I was traveling a lot during spooky season, but getting caught up. ❤
Marcella!!! Hey!! No problem :) Aww I'm glad you got to travel though! I hope it was for pleasure and not for work.
PLEASE DO A MARYL STREEP MARATHON
Happy Halloween to you, David and Marc! Spooks and Booze...or Boos! 👻
"Earnest, you pushed me down the stairs..." Such a fantastic movie!
I am totally down for watching BOTH of those! They would be like this one in that we have both seen them (Nine to Five I watched with Marc after he enjoyed Grace and Frankie so much; we haven't watched Overboard together, but I suspect he's seen it since he mentioned it).
"AHHHHHHHHHHHHH! WHATAREYOU*NUTS*?!" 😂❤😂❤😂❤
I think y'all might like a Bruce Willis/Kim Basinger movie called, "Blind Date." 😅
"Madhouse" is another good one: Kirstie Alley (may she rest in peace).
Oh, Geez! How have I forgotten about The Addams Family movies from the 90s?!
This is my all time favorite B rated 80s horror movie. Shirts, funko pops, etc. I get buy them all when I can
Ohhhhh you got me intrigued with the funko pops now!! I see browsing Amazon in my future tonight..
Loved this love watching with you guys makes it even better 😂☠️👻🍻🎉
And they will never die imagine living forever like that
Still down for rewatches as isn't that what we're all doing lol.
The morgue!? She'll be furious!! 😂
hahahahaha definitely one of my favorite lines. And I also love, "She's just a woman. A woman, Ernest. From Newark, for God's sake."
Even though the musical at the beginning is supposed to be a joke about Madeline being a bad/cheesy actress..... I'd watch that if it was real lol
Oh HECK yes we've seen Devil Wears Prada.. to the point that we quote it randomly during life events (when I find a random $5 bill in my pocket, and I say "Everybody wants this life...") lol
And thanks for the heads-up about Green Porno!
Omg Omg Omg it's happening..... I LOVE THIS MOVIE!!❤❤❤
I'm writing that Universal Pictures should give Death Becomes Her a special Blu-ray release that would include all 25 deleted scenes that were cut from the film and including the film's original Switzerland ending as special features.
GOD yes!
The First Wives Club is excellent with Goldie, Bette Midler and Diane Keaton.
Death becomes her in my opinion one if the best movies that is worth watching in October.
Good gracious I love this movie, hilarious! Have yall seen, "First Wives Club"???
Was the vicki, Tamera referring to the real housewives of Orange County 😂 if so it was hilarious 😂 😂
Yes!!! And thank you for catching that! ;)
@@DavidvsFilm fabulous 😂 😂 I love vicki they need to bring the og back!! Love from Scotland 🏴 x
@@Belladonna313 Thanks!! Love returned from Houston. Completely agree, btw! We have been “background watching” old eps from the post-Brooks cancer scam era; just finished the Ireland trip haha.
@@DavidvsFilm omg the Ireland trip 😂 the bus ride home from hell 😂 they should bring back Kelly too 😂 she was good tv xx
Y'all need to check out....
Bird on a Wire 90' starring Goldie Hawn and Mel Gibson. It is an Action/Comedy.
Special effects and look a like was well done.
Definitely!
Goldie is great in First Wives Club with Bette Midler and Diane Keaton!
That one is a favorite ❤️
The cops came to Helen’s house because she was being evicted and refused to leave so they had to come and take her out forcibly
First!!!! I have not seen this movie in years!! ❤❤❤ oh! Have you seen ”Fried green tomatoes ” ? If not please!!!! Watch it with us and Marc! Marc will like it!
Hello you!!!! It’s such a great movie!! Yeah we’re actually watched Fried Green Tomatoes a couple of months ago. It’s on the channel ;)
@@DavidvsFilm oh my! Now i remember! I even commented on it!! 😂😂😂!!! Does this mean i’m getting old!?
@@DavidvsFilmif you watched "Moonlighting", surely you know Willis started as a comedian.
You guys should do She Devil . Meryl is hilarious in it withRoseanne Barr. Very campy also.
Thanks!! Oh yeah I totally want to include that one on the channel.
If you haven't PLEASE watch The Bridges of Madison County which has Meryl Streep starring opposite Clint Eastwood who also directed and produced it too. Its absolutely fantastic such a beautiful piece of work. Its perfect. ❤❤❤
One of my favorite underated movies of all time 😁
Sup… hands down, my favorite line is… I’m a girl… 😂
Meryl was funny in "she devil" with Roseanne Barr. She's a glamorous romance writer that steals Roseanne's husband. Great movie.
Yes!❤
An amazing classic, right??
Love this film, its soooo good. I would love to see your reaction to 'The Sweetest Thing' even if you've seen it. 😊
🎵 You're too big to fit in here, too big to fit in here.🎵
Once it's in you're head you cant get it out 🤣
I hadnt seen it in years, I forgot all about it, then the song popped in my head randomly and I just had to watch it again. 😁
Yes to She Devil!!!
You guys need to watch trick r' treat it's from the same company that did krampus
It's on the poll list for this year!
