I watched a video of yours wiring young Kishu junipers. I learned so much from this video. Namely, just wire them when they are young, put curves and sideway movement into the branches and Dont Worry About How it Looks at this stage. That has always been my stumbling block. So I wired my junipers like what you showed and finally it all makes sense. I Can't thank you enough.
@@Bonsaiworx all the knowledge i can get the better ! I need to know best methods for back budding. My tree isnt in full health so i was going to let the candles fully grow this year what would u suggest the next step is to get backbudding. The tree i bought someone removed all of the needles along the whole branch so it limited those areas to bed back
I do this to junipers most times of the year. I avoid spring as that is when the sap is flowing the most and the cut points will bleed and weaken the tree.
Best to wait a season. It’s now autumn here. The tree was bought by one of the people watching the demo. So probably wait until late winter the following year.
@@Bonsaiworx Gotcha. Thanks. You mentioned that, when starting out, you made a few "2D" trees, this is something I've been guilty of myself while learning. Do you have any tips for helping visualise or see the tree in the raw material? Pad placement seems like an artform in itself
@@MarkusMh yeah that is the hardest thing. You can’t really teach it. You just need to look at a lot of bonsai in person and study how the branches are placed and so on. I’ve got another video coming soon where I did a demonstration on black pine styling and go through my process in more detail on how I style trees. It will be a long video but worth it.
@@Bonsaiworx Alright, I guess I will have an excuse to go shop for more raw material. Thanks. I did just buy a shohin JBP a few days ago so good timing on the upcoming video, thanks again.
It's quite difficult to see what you're doing behind those pots and supplies. Move the junk and get your camera closer to your work. Otherwise, great work and final result was awesome.

That’s awesome!! Glad I could help.
Nice to hear you’re from Melbourne.. you did a fantastic job
Great demo! You were really warm and friendly. Often new people can be intimidated and you made bonsai really accessible.
Great work watching that tree change shape always great
If you put this back in the bigger pot do you recommend putting a flat rock or something under neath to keep the roots from growing downward.
Great idea. Fattens up the base and improves the nebari.
Love watching demos. I hope u do the black pine also would love to get more knowledge on jbp.
Yep will have the black pine one up soon but it a movie length video!

So beautiful
Are you going to post your JBP demo did at the club?
Yes, still editing the video. Promise it will be up in the next couple of days.
So it’s ok to style and cut branches this close to winter on junipers

Great end result! How long will you wait until you repot it, after such a big overhaul? A year?
