I still find it insane when I watch these videos and how far the equipment has come for climbing. The thing is for me that most of it all is very expensive. The company that I work for can't afford that stuff, so which means I can't afford it lol. People still laugh at me when they see me climbing on a suicide, or a Blake. I guess it's what I'm used to and what the old timers taught me. But I can see the great advantages that all this rigging brings. My knees and my back are shot from years of this and I'm not a big guy, and I see big dudes climbing and running all over the stick with this shit. If u got it , u got it, but maybe one day for me.
@@andrewbrown5868 I hear ya.im older now ..but man get yourself a hitchclimber pulley it's not expensive for 100 bucks you can get hitch cord and hitchclimber kit ..way way way better then blakes..just extend ot away from your saddle if you want to pull the old way.useing a tether or something..not expensive at all
Whats your thoughts on purchasing a sequoia saddle ..been wanting one for lontime so many mixed reviews and people saying those lower d rings can come loose.
I never had mine come loose. But I wouldn’t buy it again. The back pad is not wide enough for proper support. This might be more concerning for someone heavier. Everything else I was happy with.
Another great video man. Any idea what the length of that tether is roughly? Always on the lookout for a setup shorter than my zigzag/chicane for spar/pole work
If you’re using a carabiner for your spar anchor it’s mainly to avoid side loading the carabiner.. The quicky is perfect for spar anchor because it doesn’t have a gate like carabiners do... I only use this ring method if I’m doing a basal anchor but it’s really just preference...
I think the more realistic issue with using a carabiner is the gate being opened by rubbing on the spar. Unless you're 400 lbs and taking a 10 ft drop on a side loaded carabiner, you're never even gonna get close to snapping or breaking it. But I've definitely seen my triple lock carabiner be opened by a branch or spar. I still use it though, just be aware of it.
This is exactly why I dont use a wrench. I love my unicender the best out of all of them. Only thing ill use different is a zig zag for crane work. Great video
My friend.. I'm not sold on that rope wrench... You know RR pro .. Zig Zag.. unicender... Among others to me are a better way to go... The mechanical ascenders are so advanced that older devices are becoming obsolete...I'm just saying why make life difficult when there are tools that prevent that from happening...🤔🤔🤔
you dont need the wrench at all for positioning on spar. wrench only works during full load.easy enough to just unhook the wrench for positioning. why not just bring a figure 8 with you for the decent? or a ring on munter? not like you need heavy limb walking, and canopy gear for spar work... or just run a soft tether for spar work, so the wrench can be positioned closer to the hitch. watch kevin bingham videos, the guy who invented the wrench gives the history, and all the theory behind , hence the feight revolver.your hitch wont bind up during positioning. we are clombers, we need to use the right tools , and training for the right jobs. simplify your set up, and youll see the difference. good review on the tether tho, shows me why i wouldnt want one, personally i hate clunky mechanicals.
Great insight thank you. Loved the figure eight for holding your rigging line. Great idea.

What size (internal diameter) is the green ring you are using for anchor?
amazing video
Glad you think so!

It’s roughly 10 inches long, compared to zz chicane, it’s a bit longer
I'm curious, what's the advantage of adding a ring, plus the carabineer to the anchor? I typically use just an alpine and quicky to choke.

Ur dam good bro, an I just realized that ur are very close to me... I'm in glassboro nj, that's funny I saw it vid, in toms river...

I like to use the hitchhiker it,s a lot more compact
Can you tell me what you prefer, the new tether with rope wrench or the Rope Runner Pro?
depends on what im doing.
Would you work a whole tree from that anchor? Or use it just for spar work? Cheers
I’ve done it before.
I prefer a petzl rig on the spar, or a grigri
How about the " Wire Core Flippline " standard .....lol , one TriTech lanyard and one Wire Core lanyard and life is good ....cheers

Did I hear human talking in there?

He's got the wrench on so he can escape to the ground in a moment if attacked by bees or cuts himself, working from a figure 8 is def not as good
What knot were you using for your anchor?
