I've just ordered the kindle matcha and I'm SOO EXCITED!! I can't wait for it to arrive. I never owned or tried an ereader before so I'm very excited. Thank you so much for all the amazing videos! You were truly a lifesaver while I was trying to decide what to buy haha
I love watching your videos. I switched from Kindle paperwhite 11 Gen to the Boox Go Color 7 so that I can read ebooks and manga apps on one device. Although I am tempted to get the colorsoft sometime.
@SummerSayre I like that I'm not limited to one ebook ecosystem. Because it runs Android. So I can have the Kindle app, Libby, and Webtoon. And it has page turn buttons.
I actually ordered my first Kindle Matcha based off your videos and am so happy I did! I love it! I feel like in the research I did watching videos - yours were the most helpful in details and especially size comparisons across the board! Thank you so much! I'd say the only difference noteable to me for the basic matcha vs paperwhite after seeing one in store is that the paperwhite screen size can display a full book page while the matcha screen is only usually a partial/half page. Though for the money saved this isnt a deal breaker at all!
I have a PW 11 but couldn’t resist the matcha, and I actually think I might prefer it. I keep my warmth pretty low anyway so I don’t miss it, and it’s so lightweight and easy to hold
I have the Kinde Paperhwite 2021 edition. Loved it had no issues with it. All the features are great. However, i bought the basic kindle bc of how small the size was... and OMG im hooked. The backlight is already warmer than the cool light on the 2021 paperwhite. It's very smooth and fast and that smaller size creates a much more pleasant reading experience. Although i personally find the battery life to not be as long as i am used to
I have a 2016 Paperwhite and an 11th gen Paperwhite that I upgraded to summer 2023 but I'm so tempted by the Matcha one even tho it doesn't have warm light, that colour is just gorgeous!! But also since I'm in Canada, Kobo Libra Colour is also very tempting because of the library access features that we don't get with Kindle here unfortunately and the physical page turn buttons seem great too, I have to decide which one I want more when I feel like it's more appropriate to change devices haha
My first ereader was a kobo sage. I loved the buttons on that so much that when I was looking at the kindle, I got the oasis. Now am just hoping kindle comes up with a colorsoft with buttons. I would jump on that ship pretty fast. Love your vids btw, ♥
Hi! Do you like your Kobo? I was excited about my kindle, but I’m not sure if I like the fact that you technically do not own your book. With Kobo you do, but with Kobo I’ve heard that it’s not as crisp as the kindle and there aren’t that many book options as kindle. I’m not sure what to do😩sooo many options.
@kelceynicole I do love my kobo! I usually move books that aren’t available on kobo over from my kindle. It’s not quite as crisp but it doesn’t bother me!
I have: Kindle Paperwhite 7th (white) Kindle Oasis 2019 (silver) Kindle signature edition 2022 (black) Kobo libra 2 (white) Kobo color (black) And I’m thinking about getting the boox go 7 (color) and maybe the latest kindle Paperwhite raspberry because I always wanted to have a pink kindle. P.s the kobo libra color is the only one I like the least due to its dark screen. I don’t read comics and if I could go back in time and get the kobo sage instead I wouldn’t have thought it twice.
Another thing about the Kobo is that it does not have full dark mode. The page turns black but all the menus stay white/light, similar to what Summer showed for the Kindle colorsoft. Just FYI for anyone trying to make a decision
I recently upgraded from the 11th edition paperwhite to the 12th edition signature paperwhite in metallic jade. The selling point for Black Friday in addition to the trade-in discounts and the metallic coloring option. It wasn't much of a leap from a regular priced paperwhite to the signature on sale. I felt that the colors (jade and raspberry) on the paperwhite were a bit dulled in comparison to the metallic when side by side. If the price point wasn't what it was I would have just stayed with the standard paperwhite. But, when push comes to shove my reason behind the using the paperwhite is having the warmth option. I have light sensitivity and the warmth option is such a life saver for me. I also do like the completely flat surface the paperwhite has in comparison to the basic.
@@SummerSayre I do! The speed is much faster in comparison. I've had a paperwhite since its debut and I love the aesthetic of it appearing to be "paper" and is a space changer in a small apartment! I love my paper books but apartments are not conducive for a book lover lol
@livelaughlove384 I know! I have one bookshelf and I dream of a library but I keep having to trade books in since there’s just nowhere to keep them all 😭🤷♀️
Thank you for the video! I have sensitive eyes, and the constant flashing as the pages loaded are concerning. Is that normal for all ereaders? I’m searching for my first one because I now can’t read certain books because the text size is too small, so I need an ereader. Is there one where it doesn’t have that “flash” or buffer as it loads?
The "flash" is definitely more dramatic on camera than in real life, but you can turn the page refresh off so that it doesn't do that for every page. I have it on as it reduces ghosting, but I would say the kobo is a bit better as far as that goes. There will be a "refresh", but again, in real life it's not as noticeable to me. When I watch videos back it's kind of funny to see how the camera picks it up. I hope that helps!
Summer, do you have a page turner? I got the Datafy page turner in pink. I don't like it. I bought it because of my disability, but it feels really weird having a this large large clip on my Kindle screen. Also having to readjust my margins has thrown me off entirely. Also, the charging cable is so ridiculously short and tiny, it's basically entirely useless. It wasn't cheap either. It was R695 South African Rands, which is like $38.40. Any suggestions to help with the page turner? Or tips that would make it easier for me? Thanks.
Oh no! I don't have a page turner, but I was looking into getting one. Which kindle do you have so I know for margins? If I find a good one I will definitely share!!!
@SummerSayre 11th gen paperwhite. My hands sometimes pull lame, and go into spasm, which is why I bought it. I just can't get used to it. I'm looking into getting a new paperwhite, but I will have to wait until at least July 2025. There are so many issues with the new kindles.
I have just bought a PW SE 11, it was at the same price as the PW 12 but I have heard that the new PW screen might be yellowish. Besides, I want to try the wireless charging and the auto brightness feature. I hope not to regret my decision
@SummerSayre I bought it on AliExpress, but I saw it on Shopee, too. I'll let you know if I like the device (most probably I will, I am kind of addicted to e-readers)
This is super random, but it’s not the lip that makes the basic not waterproof, because kobo has ones with the lip that are waterproof. It has always made me curious what exactly they do to make them waterproof or not lol
What are you looking for in an e-reader? Which one is your favorite so far? Leave any questions for me below and I'll answer as many as I can!

I have a kindle paperwhite, a kobo libra color, and a boox Palma. The kobo is definitely my favorite, by far. ❤
