- Directed by Eli Roth, Borderlands is based on the video games created by Gearbox Software and published by 2K. The film stars Cate Blanchett, Kevin Hart, Jack Black, Edgar Ramírez, Ariana Greenblatt, Florian Munteanu, Gina Gershon, and Jamie Lee Curtis.
Lilith (Blanchett), an infamous treasure hunter with a mysterious past, reluctantly returns to her home planet of Pandora to find the missing daughter of Atlas (Ramírez), the universe’s most powerful S.O.B. She forms an unexpected alliance with a ragtag team of misfits - Roland (Hart), once a highly respected soldier, but now desperate for redemption; Tiny Tina (Greenblatt), a feral pre-teen demolitionist; Krieg (Munteanu), Tina’s musclebound, rhetorically challenged protector; Tannis (Curtis), the scientist who’s seen it all; and Claptrap (Black), a persistently wiseass robot.
These unlikely heroes must battle alien monsters and dangerous bandits to find and protect the missing girl, who may hold the key to unimaginable power. The fate of the universe could be in their hands - but they’ll be fighting for something more: each other.
Lionsgate presents, in association with Media Capital Technologies, an Arad / Picturestart production, a Gearbox Studios / 2K production. Lionsgate will release Borderlands in the US and UK on August 9, 2024.

someone on tiktok re-edited the trailer using Ain't No Rest for the Wicked, and tonally it worked SO MUCH better!

They did Roland and Tannis dirty, Marcus should have introduced the trailer, there’s no cage of the elephant jams, and they better make krieg as gory and insane as he was and claptrap crude and annoying.
Ready To Let Go would make a BANGER intro for like a rewritten Borderlands 2 that kept the same dark and gloomy vibe as BL1.

LITERALLY ANYBODY ELSE OTHER THAN KEVIN HART.
Definitely not as great as it could have been. The characters are very muted and the choice of music was terrible. The only character that fit the roll was Jack Black but that wqs for a character that they could have used the original voice. The acting from the characters is what you get when you cast by name and not by talent. This movie would have been great to have lesser known or new actors. They just feel like they are reading through lines rather than actually acting.

Definitely getting some borderlands vibes from this. The only casting im still meh about is roland ofc. Ariana seems to be getting the some of Tina right but she doesn't seem as crazy as Tina is in the games. Still wanna hear Krieg's voice though.

Before you knock Blanchett's age, remember that she'll be the only saving grace of this movie, and this was announced shortly after Thor Ragnarok - oh yeah, it's taken that long.
Also, really NOT leaning into the fact that Eli Roth directed this at all. (Sorry, he directed some of it, the rest was fixed by a director who actually knows how to do action scenes.)
