Kreig is one of the best characters in the Borderlands games. He's a DLC vault hunter for Borderlands 2, and shows up in echo recordings and one of the DLCs for Borderlands 3. One of his game trailers is narrated by Hammerlock, and the other (A Meat Bicycle For Two) is the story of how he meets and falls in love with Maya. Weird that you say you've played a lot of Borderlands 2 and didn't know about him.
@@DanielsDailyVlogsseems like it was very casually a while ago. Like he attributes No Rest for the Wicked to BL2, when it was actually BL1. BL2 was This Ain't No Place for No Hero

As a huge borderlands nerd. I've owned all the games, finished them all atleast twice and more. The casting is shocking. As Jaby said, "Cate is great, but why?". And Kevin Hart is just the same dude in every movie. Also Lilith is supposed to be shorter than Roland... Terry Crews would have been such an ideal fit for Roland imo.
@@chanahasnomana the issue is casting a comedian as Roland, He's one of the only majority serious characters in the game and you especially see that in BL2. The music is "Do Ya" by Electric Light Orchestra, so they are trying to mimic James Gunn's GotG which used "Mr Blue Sky" by the same band for the opening of GotG Vol. 2
I’m really happy I have no investment in Borderlands. When I ever found out Avi Arad was attached to produce Ghost in the Shell… Dear God, that was a rough day. There was a pay dispute between the voice of claptrap and the people who made the game...so that's why he is not in the film... Claptrap voice actor and former Gearbox vice president of licensing and business development David Eddings said last week that he was not returning to the role in Borderlands 3 because of a pay dispute: He "insisted on getting paid" for his work (his previous performances were on the house because he was a Gearbox executive) but he and the studio couldn't agree on terms.

After having played 10s of thousands of hours across the entire Borderline franchise, I actually like Cate Blanchett as Lilith. She is the least over-the-top and most grounded of the characters and Cate brings that sense of down-to-earthness needed. My biggest fear is with Tiny Tina, who is by far the greatest character in the series and is completely unhinged in every way. She is essentially an even more twisted (yet somehow still innocent) version of Harley Quinn. She was designed and intended to be completely over-the-top and extremely darkly comical while somehow still sweet, innocent and childish. I have nothing against Ariana Greenblatt, but every action she takes needs to be more...whimsical, outlandish and filled with glee. I could see her hopping along, humming to herself while explosions are going off all around her, sending body parts everywhere. That is the extreme we need to see for that character!

Cate blanchett isn't just badly cast as Lilith, she's got to be taking a massive chunk out of the budget too. It makes no sense to me. Lilith should be played by someone like Alexandra Daddario or Samara Weaving, or ideally a younger actress just getting started.

I’ve been playing Borderlands since 2013 and I hate to say it, but aside from Cate Blanchett, none of the cast in this trailer feel anything like in the games. Tannis (Jaimie Lee Curtis) is supposed to be a truly MAD scientist who is almost never seen in the field. Tiny Tina is supposed to be like if you took 00’s hip hop, Monster Energy, and every toy from Toy’s R Us, threw them into a blender, and then BLEW UP the blender with an absurd amount of high explosives. And Claptrap is supposed to sound more upbeat because as he says “the manufacturer made that my default tone of voice, I’m actually quite depressed”. And none of those 3 sound like that from this trailer. The look and feel of Pandora look good though.
Krieg was a psycho you could play is in some DLC. I’m with ya, it doesn’t feel like it will hit the mark. Eli Roth was really my first question mark when this was first announced. I’m still trying to be optimistic…but this wasn’t a great first showing. Like you I played 2 the most. Handsome Jack should’ve just been the baddy
AVI ARAD ruined everything again Just like he ruined TASM 2, MORBIUS and UNCHARTED Things went so bad that Craig Mazin (from CHERNOBYL and THE LAST OF US) asked for his name to be removed from the credits
When I saw the title in my notification, I thought you were reacting to Alice in Borderland, so I hurriedly clicked on the video, but it was not the case. Pretty please react to Alice in Borderland. It is a an amazing Japanese thriller series. It is very exciting and a wonderful series . I love it, and I think it is much better than squid game. Please react to it pleaseeeee!
Jaby sometimes you automatically go into things hating things if they aren’t exactly what you imagined. I get it but this looks kind of 4:01 fun 🤷♂️. I am not a Borderlands fan BUT I AM ON BOARD WITH THIS! I don’t know anything about Borderlands but this reminds me of the new D&D movie and I loved that. I feel for the super fans but I personally don’t give two sh*ts if they change things if it is an entertaining movie.
Krieg the phyco was introduced in borderlands 3 and he is one of my fav characters. I’m happy he is in it but it would have been nice to have the old group first. However these characters are fine as a group.
I'll be honest, Kevin Hart as Roland was something I didn't think I would be able to like but I felt like i was pleasantly surprised. Hopefully he can maintain that feeling for the whole movie. All other actors didn't feel at all like the characters that they were suppose to be portraying. It doesn't seem like it would be a bad movie but it sure as shit isn't gonna be a good movie - Borderlands or otherwise.
If you ask me we already have borderlands movies. Called mad max. More real to borderlands than this ever will be. When it was released i thought wow, a new mad max. This movie could of been amazing. The material is created by no one who loves borderlands, just like witcher. Even while having source material to use.
I'm pretty sure Psycho was the Brick when Maya was the Lilith. I think that's in 3 but all I remember from that game is eerily appropriate Alicia Keys.
The main thing that gives me hope about this movie is that Tim Miller was brought in to do reshoots and I'm really hoping it's enough to save this movie. Both Avi Arad (are they trying to scare people away with those credentials?) and Eli Roth I cannot think of a good project they worked on. The casting I'm a bit iffy about. Kevin Hart is just going to be Kevin Hart. Lets not even kid ourselves on that one. I agree why didn't they just use the Claptrap actor to voice Claptrap again, but I can see he's trying and can grow into it. The rest of the casting I can also see growing into. I think the Tina actor was the most accurate on from the bunch at the moment. Of course it might feel different once we see the whole movie. As much as people give Star Wars flack, they generally have good casting. The last Star Wars project, Ahsoka, had amazing casting for example. Nice they even brought in the Thrawn voice actor (I'll ignore the trolls) to play the character. EDIT: I also find it amusing Jamie Lee Curtis is using her Oscar win to land these type of roles. I know she's also trying to campaign for the One Piece TV show too. It's like Helen Mirren winning that Oscar so she can get into action roles, and now Jamie is trying to use her Oscar win to land video game and anime roles. Never knew she was a fan of them. Guess her family gotten her into them.
Unfortunately, we were never going to hear Claptrap's original voice in this, as his voice actor, David Eddings, had a falling out with Randy Pitchford, the head of Gearbox, and was fired, so he was actually replaced in the games starting with the BL2 VR game.
You describe this trailer with the Suicide Squad trailers made by that trailer company and James Gunn touch comparison the way I felt! But I love the actors so I'll give it a shot and hope for a positive surprise like Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves which I really enjoyed.
I’m surprised they don’t use CG effects to make Lilith looks younger just like Luke Skywalker in the Star Wars tv series. Feels like Grandma Lilith every time I see her
They could have really made this something special if they did some kind of really cool cell shade effect, make it look like a kind of live action animation.
Agree it should have been a tv series. Side note; they introduced Krieg the Psycho as a playable character and he has an incredible split personality. Why hes not been given a moment to be hilarious in this i don't know. Also why is a Tannis 65?
Honestly I'm still excited, the casting really doesn't bother me. As long as we get to some wacky explosions, and badass action scenes, and some funny one liners, I'll be happy.
The casting is very... strange. All the women are about 20 years older than in the games, Kevin Hart is 1.5ft too short, and I have no clue when this story takes place since you got two from BL1 and a DLC character from BL2. Hammerlock and Jakobs, the coolest old gay couple in gaming, are also played by actors who look barely 30, while the games have them looking between 50 and 60, unless they are in flashbacks.
Every time a video game movie is made the gods flip a coin. Having Kevin Hart playing Roland is just like having Jim Carrey play as Sub Zero from MK

Too many people just wanting a 1:1 copy of the game which would be absolutely pointless. The trailer looks surprisingly fine imo.
My biggest concern regarding this project is why Craig Mazin's initial script was scrapped
As soon as i saw kevin hart.. the movie will bomb.
Jaby watching the trailer optimistically
"Uncharted"
PAUSE
Krieg is on your side. And his crazy behind is epic.
Easily the best written character
Krieg was a psycho you could play is in some DLC. I’m with ya, it doesn’t feel like it will hit the mark. Eli Roth was really my first question mark when this was first announced. I’m still trying to be optimistic…but this wasn’t a great first showing. Like you I played 2 the most. Handsome Jack should’ve just been the baddy
AVI ARAD ruined everything again
Just like he ruined TASM 2, MORBIUS and UNCHARTED
Things went so bad that Craig Mazin (from CHERNOBYL and THE LAST OF US) asked for his name to be removed from the credits
And this is why you are a part of the problem along with Avi Arad.
Yep Krieg is in the game as a playable character in borderlands 2.
Krieg the phyco was introduced in borderlands 3 and he is one of my fav characters. I’m happy he is in it but it would have been nice to have the old group first. However these characters are fine as a group.
introduced in Borderlands 2*
I'll be honest, Kevin Hart as Roland was something I didn't think I would be able to like but I felt like i was pleasantly surprised. Hopefully he can maintain that feeling for the whole movie. All other actors didn't feel at all like the characters that they were suppose to be portraying. It doesn't seem like it would be a bad movie but it sure as shit isn't gonna be a good movie - Borderlands or otherwise.
If im not mistaken I think by Borderlands 3 there was one that was their friend Korg was his name I think its been a while 🙂
Looks Awesome
If you ask me we already have borderlands movies. Called mad max. More real to borderlands than this ever will be. When it was released i thought wow, a new mad max. This movie could of been amazing. The material is created by no one who loves borderlands, just like witcher. Even while having source material to use.
I'm pretty sure Psycho was the Brick when Maya was the Lilith. I think that's in 3 but all I remember from that game is eerily appropriate Alicia Keys.
I think Kevin heart shown he had great range in jamanji
It looks just OK will not go to a theater to see it is a streaming only movie.
I’m surprised they don’t use CG effects to make Lilith looks younger just like Luke Skywalker in the Star Wars tv series. Feels like Grandma Lilith every time I see her
No psycho is on your side in any of the games.
Are you related to Alba dude?
Borderlands the Se-Sequel.... set 80 years in the future cause gawdam theyre so old like THATS TANNIS AND LILITH?!?!?!?!?
Anyone know what rating the movie will be? The games in the UK are 18 and I have a feeling this will be a 12A
The cast is bizarre Oscar winners and .....Kevin hart😂
Krieg the psycho is a dlc character from game 2
They could have really made this something special if they did some kind of really cool cell shade effect, make it look like a kind of live action animation.
Also Krieg came out later in borderlands 2 but no Brick Mordiaci like what?
Agree it should have been a tv series. Side note; they introduced Krieg the Psycho as a playable character and he has an incredible split personality. Why hes not been given a moment to be hilarious in this i don't know. Also why is a Tannis 65?
Eh i agree, im not to sure what to think from this... hopefully it winds up good.
Honestly I'm still excited, the casting really doesn't bother me. As long as we get to some wacky explosions, and badass action scenes, and some funny one liners, I'll be happy.
It didn't look bad...but it didn't look like borderland either.
This trailer reminds me of the trailers and beginning of the Guardians of the Galaxy flicks.
