I just assumed you like coffee and didn't want to chug caffeine all day. Thanks for being open and sharing. It's a huge reminder that every choice people make could have a private reason behind it. It's not always our business but I appreciate you sharing anyway.
It's bizarre how some people feel offended by other people's food choices. Decaf, no alcohol, vegan, halal, food allergies and sensitivities etc. I've seen people get insulted over all of those. Like, if you feel insulted by other people's dietary needs and choices, you need to do a bit of self reflection and figure out why you're so insecure. Let the girl drink her decaf.
I have a gluten intolerance and people legitimately get so upset thinking it’s so wild and crazy diet trend they have to insult me about. It’s so bizarre. Definitely an American thing as well, in Europe no one got up in my business about it, or tried to debunk it, or insulted me about it. Here for some reason people are insane, like it doesn’t even affect you, leave me alone! 😢
THIS! i have some dietary restrictions due to partial stomach paralysis and people get so funny about it when i say oh i can’t eat that because it’s too hard for me to digest or whatever and some people take it so personally and say just eat it anyway it doesn’t matter etc but why do they care? its nothing to do with them!!
@@gnostic268Me too! I've used coffee to help knock me out at night before. Works like a charm tbh. Drinking caffeinated coffee in the morning is a risk because it'll either calm my mind to help me focus or send me straight back to sleep. I could never have an athletic job like Lori and drink regular coffee.
Gosh, why does anyone ask you such personal questions? It is your business and no one else’s! You are kind to answer the question although it was not necessary! You have been forthcoming often. Thank you for bringing so open and honest.
because people feel that, if the person posts videos on YT (or elsewhere) those that watch are entitled to know every single detail of their lives. Just the other day someone asked a YT person would it be possible for her to do a video with her inlaws (who lived thousands of miles away btw)!!
coffee snobs are so strange to me lol. so many people just like the taste of coffee but can’t have a lot of caffeine for whatever reason or don’t want the effects of caffeine, it’s not that deep. maybe you want to drink multiple cups but don’t want to crash out over it haha. for me, if gives me anxiety and upsets my stomach badly. but i love the taste. thanks for sharing something so personal lori, i hope you never feel pressured to share more than you’re comfortable with 🫶🏻
"One study showed that higher caffeine consumption was associated with higher estrogen levels for Asian women. However, the exact reverse effect was found for white women-higher caffeine intake was associated with lower estrogen levels." So yeah, this still needs to be studied further. But I think she does the right thing by listening to her body and her doctor 😊 If it works then why not!
Some of the reactions to you not drinking caffeined coffee were surprising! I thought perhaps not drinking caffeine drinks kept you from having jitters or to be kept in a more calm state mind. I have to stay off caffeine due to fibrillation of the heart. It seems to affect the beating of my heart. Thank you for sharing some of your personal life!
It's weird to me that people always seem to think that there's no reason to drink coffee if it's not caffeinated. Like they're basically telling on themselves that they're only using it as a recreational drug 😭
Is not Even about that Is how offended they acted on a complete stranger 😂😂 Like everyone has their reason to do whatever they want Eat whatever and drink whatever She doesnt own anyone an explanation Like cmon now
I also drink decaf. Started when I was pregnant. It helped my anxiety and my sleep so now I do decaf coffee and decaf tea/ herbal tea pretty much all the time My periods are almost pain free now. That did not used to be the case. I assumed it was the pregnancies, but maybe the much lower caffeine also helped? I like the taste and the ritual
I understand! I had to make dietary changes because of my hormones too. (I have polycystic ovary syndrome). I'm glad you found a change that works for you!
You shouldn’t have to share personal information just because people are offended! Nothing is wrong with decaf drinks especially for dancers. I am a dancer and the reason I don’t drink caffeinated drinks is because it makes me super shakey while dancing and overall just makes me more anxious.
Whatever works for you and you like it! Rock on! Some folks are soo nosey! You share your life but sometimes viewers questions seem so insensitive - now the real question is- which tastes best!? Maybe it’s a good idea to have the option for guests. You make great points about why people don’t drink caffeine so maybe I’ll stock up on other choices
i have bad anxiety so full caff has actually sent me into panic attacks before so i tend to stick to decaf as well! it's nice to see a fellow decaf drinker ❤
Where I live has a reputation as having a “coffee culture” but having said that, I have never encountered any baristas who won’t prepare a drink which a customer has asked for. There’s too much competition here to knock back customers. A good reputation means more customers.
@@l214laus see, that's what i would think. I can see it in a regular restaurant b/c sometimes they have to fo make a whole new pot of decaf for that one order. Or sometimes they only have instant so it is a little extra work on top of their already not easy job. But at a coffee shop, the beans are right there next to the regular ones and it's exactly the same amount of work. Why the hate?
Oh my gosh! The same exact thing happened to me with too much caffeine! I totally understand! It definitely helped me as well by switching to decaf! No one knows your body the way you do! Can't believe people sometimes! They can get upset over the craziest things! It's your body and life, not theirs! 💖💖💖
Caffeine does agitate my anxiety so limiting it helps. It’s not a cure but if you are feeling anxious, being mindful of caffeine consumption could be beneficial.
You are quite correct about the link between caffeine and heavy periods. Also decaff coffee and tea are better to drink during and after menopause, as caffeine is the enemy in this case.
I don’t drink decaf often but when I’m around the time of the month, a week before I stop caffeine consumption to reduce bleed and pain. Same with the consumption of turmeric in drinks because that cause severe pain and bleed as well.
I feel this so much. I love coffee, I could drink it all day but caffeine causes heart palpitations for me and my doctor said some people are sensitive to caffeine in coffee. He suggested that I opt for tea. I either drink tea or decaf coffee when I want the taste of coffee so my priority is not the spike from caffeine. It is purely the taste and the experience!
I have Fibromyalgia so I don't drink caffeinated drinks either. It makes me have a lot of muscle spasms and pain. My doctor told me to watch the caffeine intake because it stimulates the breast tissue and they think too much can lead to breast cancer.
I can’t drink caffiene because I have secondary adrenal insufficiency, which eats up cortisol levels. Everyone has different needs. And coffee tastes good, it is definitely a ritual! A little caffiene for me from decaf is usually pretty good at waking me up anyways since im so sensitive to it.
It’s sad you had to share this, but also thank you sharing. I limit myself to 1 coffee a day, and then if I’m still wanting something I’ll make a decaf. It is something about the ritual and experience, like you said, and it’s not always about the caffeine intake.
I buy decaffeinated tea at the store. I grew up drinking iced tea but I don't like being awake all night. I don't think it's available most restaurants and convince stores. They probably have it at Starbucks but I don't go there. I don't like bitter so I never drank coffee. I just really hate coffee for some reason.
Decaf contains 10% the amt of caffeine as regular. I'm so happy you're looking at your hormones. I had breast cancer at age 40 estrogen fed. Went thru 2 pelvis area surgeries to stop estrogen in my body. Mastectomy yadayada. You can wean off caffeine and find other ways to get energy. I'm really proud of you for being self-aware and healthy.
Yes me too! I suffered from fibroids and then ER+ cancer at 44. Chemo killed my ovaries so no more worries on that front. No one ever mentioned a link between estrogen and caffeine! @lisad5242 how are you these days?
I am super duper sensitive to caffeine but I enjoy the warmth of a cup of coffee especially on cold mornings. The small caffeine in decaf coffee is still enough to jolt me. I once ordered a latte but forgot to mention decaf and my stomach was a mess, I couldn't stop sweating and my heart was racing.
Everyone always has so many opinions and judgements on other people as though they know what's best for other people and their bodies. It never ends and opening your life up to us unfortunately invites unempathetic know-it-alls, as well as generally nosy people, who think it's their right to intrude. You don't EVER have to share your medical (or any other) business with strangers if it crosses your boundaries. I see in the comments that some people were helped by you sharing this knowledge and I think that's awesome, but you certainly shouldn't feel pressured to defend yourself from people who have never even met you!! Anyway, I want to thank you for showing us the daily aspects of your career. It brings me great joy to see you train and strive and perform so wonderfully!!!
Thanks for sharing, Lori! Through most of my 20’s and into my 30’s (I’m now 53) I cut out caffeine because when I got my period each month there were some spots (maybe lymph nodes) in my breasts that became painful. This was all prior to coffee being an “event” or activity. At 50 I started drinking coffee, when my then teen, was into it. I now cold-brew at home and have it most days, but mostly for the taste. Fortunately, I’ve never had to rely of caffeine to function. 😅
Drink whatever is best for you not what others think you should .. it never occurred to me that was an issue for some but then I do drink decaf sometimes 😊
I also have issues with gut and bladder reactivity - caffeine (and I mean both coffee and copious tea that I drink!) has a lot of acidity, which can irritate the linings of both the bowels and bladder, causing them both to be over-active. Not fun as a gigging musician, even less so for dancers I'd wager!
I drink decaf too I have chronic migraine and keeping caffeine down helps me a lot also my anxiety is absolutely insane and too much caffeine was a big trigger
heavy doses of caffeine make me sleepy, it backfires miraculously, but i still like the taste of coffee so i drink decaf, or teas that mimic the taste!
as a high anxiety girlie who can’t drink coffee, thank you for mentioning this! I just started at a new law firm and almost every single person has talked to me about the coffee machine (it’s great) and when I tell them I don’t drink regular coffee they are flabbergasted. Luckily it makes decaf and hot chocolate, so I have options lol
I love to have decaf because it keeps my tolerance low. If i can function off the little bit of caffeine in the decaf then I would prefer the lower dose. Ill do half caff if i need a more substantial pick me up. Full caff usually makes me jittery
I have heart issues. I love coffee but my body cant handle it 😢 i miss the taste of coffee. I try to compensate a little with decaffeinated ones. Yet miss the wake up effect 😅
Especially if you have thyroid disease hashimotos or PCOS yepper! Everyone should do what is best for them! Some days I need more than one cup other days one is more than enough!
I often go for decaf when I do drink coffee (can’t have it much due to my body not even handling decaf well stomach wise) because I have a nervous system problem that causes tachycardia. Coffee in particular is a big trigger. But tea, especially matcha, does fine. I’m a big tea lover anyways so I just drink that ❤
People are weird. Who cares what kind of coffee people drink. My sister has heart problems, and while trying to work out what was wrong, her doctor made her switch to no/as little as possible caffeine. For me, decaf gives me a headache, no idea why, and I’m fully aware it makes no sense 😂 Definitely not a placebo, as just last week someone gave me decaf and I had a headache before realising they only had decaf coffee.
I think people who don’t understand decaf are just not people who love the taste of coffee. I typically have 1-2 coffees and then switch to tea to not over-caffeinate. But if I needed to reduce my caffeine even further, I’d drink decaf rather than only drinking tea. I just really love the different tastes and experiences I get from coffee and tea.
When I was able to drink coffee (cant anymore due to stomach acid issues), i actually PREFERRED decaf to regular coffee! Its sad that you are having to defend a fricken drink! 🤣 The internet public is WILD!
I have kinda bad anxiety and I'm also pregnant, so I need decaf... It really winds me up when my mil doesn't take it seriously and will make a pot of regular tea or coffee and say yeah, it's decaf! And later I find out it's not grrrrr
i was a heavy coffee drinker. like 4 shots of espresso a day at some point. throughout the years i started to develop massive amounts of anxiety which my doctor told me was partially contributed to by caffeine. i cut back but it wasn’t enough so after i became pregnant i used that as my opportunity to stop completely. the difference is incredible! sometimes i’ll randomly crave the feeling of how caffeine made me feel especially if im tired one day. but i just use that as an opportunity to sleep more that night. i think ive had a total of 3 decaf and 1 (accidental) caffeinated drinks all year and even that i was hesitant about bc it(decaf) still contains caffeine. it’s crazy when people judge about things like that. you never know what a person is going though.
My mom has heart problems and my grandpa did too, and they’ve both drank decaf for as long as I can remember for that reason. I’ve never understood the “coffee snob” type people, meaning the people who criticize others for how they like their coffee or WHAT they drink lol. Seems so silly and inconsiderate 😭😂
I love coffee but stomach acid isnt funny and can cause lots of bad effects. I was a coffee snob, but i realized that I can get great decaf now, unlike previous powdered decaf coffee from years ago. Not really anyone's business!
Me too, also decaf tea otherwise I get tachycardia. At some point coffee would make me feel depressed and tired dunno why and getting rid of it gave me back my life in a couple of days.
I watched one documentary which was made for coffee: caffeinated, decaf, and instant coffee. Here’s the link: ruclips.net/video/IBB_8vR7wpU/видео.htmlsi=GvJp08SIjULPXE3I And it’s worldly known by now that coffee is really healthy. And in this research came to the conclusion that coffee with caffeine and decaf coffee has the same benefits! While instant coffee doesn’t have anything beneficial in it. And I was happy also because I love coffee so much, and I can only drink 2 cups per day, and so other 1-2 cups I drink decaf. 💖 I cannot tolerate too much caffeine unfortunately, so Lori I totally understand you about your coffee 🤗🤗🤗☕️🤎
When i was young, my grandmas doctor told her she needed to cut caffeine out of her diet. She used to have a lot everyday. She had to switch to caffiene free everything to drink. Once in a while, she'd have something with caffeine in it. But that was barely ever.
People who hear that I drink decaf often get mad and ask me what's the point of drinking it at that point. 1. Caffeine triggers massive migraines and 2. I love the taste of coffee. I don't understand why people need to get mad about it. If anyone is drinking coffee JUST for the caffeine, I think they need to reassess their life choices.
I did not know that. Need to discuss with doctor. I thought i had to give up coffee. Forgot about decaf. Good idea to still have the coffee and experience of it
I also switched for my hormone imbalance issues, I started drinking 1 cup of earl grey in the mornings instead of my 2 black coffees and all my pimples went away, my hair stopped being so greasy, and my period pain lessened.
I used to drink in excess of 40 cups of coffee a day ( I was a very busy barber ) to give me that energy kick !! Then I developed heart disease nothing to do with the amount of coffee I’d been drinking, my Gp said try decaf and I did !! I obviously didn’t get that kick anymore so now I drink just one or two cups of coffee a day 😂❤
My significant other stopped my coffee espresso because she easily goes to sleep at 9pm and I did also, but I woke up at 2am and played on my phone. So she took away my coffee and phone as we went to bed. ❤
I have a benign irregular heart rhythm. I’m fine. My doctor wants me to avoid caffeine in all forms including chocolate. People shouldn’t judge us when we avoid caffeine since there are many legit reasons.
i have GERD and i had to stop drinking coffee. it was really hard for me. now i can drink coffee again because of decaf and it doesnt hurt my body. too bad its kinda hard to find decaf here
Caffeine linked to estrogen... And estrogen is linked to dopamine... (gals with ADHD, if you've noticed the second half of your cycle is rougher: that's why.) Off to get some full-caf: thank you for the tip!
I don't know if this is normal, but when I drink regular coffee it makes me feel so sleepy instead of waking me up. Does somebody know the possible reasons?
Coffee is a stimulant. In some people, especially those with a deficiency or disorder of stimulating brain chemicals like dopamine, the stimulant ups those chemicals for a time allowing your brain and body to finally relax. It sounds counterintuitive, but when you rely on other chemicals like cortisol and adrenaline (stress chemicals) to function in the absence of dopamine, getting some dopamine actually relieves the constant stress response.
For those who are curious, decaf still has small amounts of caffeine, but only about 3% of regular coffee. It's not 100% caffeine free.
Came here to say the same thing! Patients who have to have stress tests always get bummed out “but I had decaf this morning!” Still had trace amounts
And I think the decaffeinating process is not the best. Maybe it is a chemical process?
@@chrissiedcohen no. It's not chemical. It's physical. They use CO2 to wash the caffeine out.

Coffee drinkers are so weird and pretentious let this woman drink her decaf in peace 😭
I honestly thought that it was the dehydrating effect that singers avoid it for.
I never thought of that as caffeine being a contributor to painful menstrual cramps .
i was a heavy coffee drinker. like 4 shots of espresso a day at some point. throughout the years i started to develop massive amounts of anxiety which my doctor told me was partially contributed to by caffeine. i cut back but it wasn’t enough so after i became pregnant i used that as my opportunity to stop completely. the difference is incredible! sometimes i’ll randomly crave the feeling of how caffeine made me feel especially if im tired one day. but i just use that as an opportunity to sleep more that night. i think ive had a total of 3 decaf and 1 (accidental) caffeinated drinks all year and even that i was hesitant about bc it(decaf) still contains caffeine. it’s crazy when people judge about things like that. you never know what a person is going though.
Anyone with anxiety would know better than to drink more than one cup of coffee that isn’t decaffeinated. It’s a struggle 😢
Imagine getting offended because someone chooses decaf over regular coffee lol the heck?
I drink decaf because I like to have coffee in the morning but I don’t do well with caffeine.
I only drink decaf coffee because I'm sensitive to caffeine ❤
Just do you boo 🌈❤❤❤your amazing 🌼🦋🕊️🤍 Keep up the great work 🤍🪶
I have blood pressure issues and I can’t have caffeine in any capacity, it drops my bp numbers til I’m on the floor.
Oh I have high levels of estrogen too and drink a lot of coffee 😅 Thanks for sharing 🫶🏻
I guess I am stuck on trying to understand why anyone would be bothered by you drinking decaf
There’s no shortage of coffee snobs who know what is best for all. This is not a dig at the commenter.
I watched one documentary which was made for coffee: caffeinated, decaf, and instant coffee. Here’s the link: ruclips.net/video/IBB_8vR7wpU/видео.htmlsi=GvJp08SIjULPXE3I
And it’s worldly known by now that coffee is really healthy.
I cannot tolerate too much caffeine unfortunately, so Lori I totally understand you about your coffee 🤗🤗🤗☕️🤎
The way people feel insulted about this is insane 😅
When i was young, my grandmas doctor told her she needed to cut caffeine out of her diet. She used to have a lot everyday. She had to switch to caffiene free everything to drink. Once in a while, she'd have something with caffeine in it. But that was barely ever.
can you PLEASE show us where you get all of your nutcracker sweatshirts and stuff they are SOOOOOO cute and I kinda want some😂❤
People who hear that I drink decaf often get mad and ask me what's the point of drinking it at that point. 1. Caffeine triggers massive migraines and 2. I love the taste of coffee. I don't understand why people need to get mad about it. If anyone is drinking coffee JUST for the caffeine, I think they need to reassess their life choices.
Thank you for sharing this! I had wondered, but I thought it would be rude to ask 😅
it is rude to ask ! thank you for not asking
I have high blood pressure and caffeine makes it worse. I had to give up my beloved coffee. I have it like once or twice a month.
I drink decaf cuz caffeine was interfering with my perimenopause making me so unwell.
I drink decaf also bc i get caffeine jitters and LIKE the taste of coffee.
Decaf squad💕
Smart answer.
I love coffee. And I wish I have some decaf right now, because it’s late😂
I drink decaf for the same reason :)
I have a benign irregular heart rhythm. I’m fine. My doctor wants me to avoid caffeine in all forms including chocolate. People shouldn’t judge us when we avoid caffeine since there are many legit reasons.
i have GERD and i had to stop drinking coffee. it was really hard for me. now i can drink coffee again because of decaf and it doesnt hurt my body. too bad its kinda hard to find decaf here
I am superrrr sensitive to caffeine and I can’t have normal coffee 😭 so I have to drink decaf
Caffeine makes me tired so I cannot consume anything with large amounts of caffeine on a regular basis
That's cool you like caffeinated Green teas too. Do you drink Kombucha or Sencha?
Caffeine linked to estrogen...
And estrogen is linked to dopamine... (gals with ADHD, if you've noticed the second half of your cycle is rougher: that's why.)
Off to get some full-caf: thank you for the tip!
Who doesn't love a cup of coffee and some chocolate? My anxiety doesn't... That's why I have decaf
Yes but chocolate also contains caffeïne unless its white chocolate.
@skoopman2675 Omg, I really didn't knew that, thanks for telling me! Anyways 2 little tiles are not too much in that case
@ClaraBerriSousa Yes indeed! But don't worry chocolate doesn't contain that much caffeïne in comparison to coffee.
I don't know if this is normal, but when I drink regular coffee it makes me feel so sleepy instead of waking me up. Does somebody know the possible reasons?
This, but then many hours later i feel awake hahah
I’ve experienced the same and have since learned that caffeine can have that effect on people with adhd. 😊
