That custom oil seal washer you made looks very nice and beneficial. For some reason the Tascam 122 decks didn't come with a capstan oil seal washer like every other deck I've seen. Why do you think that is?
I think they have all cracked and fallen off. There is part number 5534130000 in the service manual that shows it was used on both sides of the capstan. That may have been the outboard oil seal, but it's a good idea in any event.
I think with the torque tape I'd want to try a high framerate, maybe 120 FPS, and then slo-mo the video in editing. Not sure if that's any help at all. I'd try it myself if I had a torque tape, but that's a tool still on my wish list.
For the torque tape, you actually want a higher shutter speed, not a higher frame rate. High shutter speeds reduce the blur, at the cost of also reducing the amount of light coming in to the camera. A higher frame rate would just capture more blurry frames per second.
That makes sense, thank you. I think my main problem is the RUclips compression algorithm, it looks just fine in post but breaks down when uploaded to RUclips. Do you think the higher shutter speed will help out with this?
Как всегда круто! Утончённый подход и достойная реализация обслуживания!
Thank you, I appreciate your comments!
Great work fella! Narration is clear and easy to follow too. It's like watching Painting with Bob Ross, only with tapedecks! >. <
👍
Hey thanks, it's a happy little tape deck!
Yasoo, Peter! Как всегда, превосходная и кропотливая работа профессионала! As always, excellent and painstaking work from a professional! 👍👍👍
Спасибо, Вадим.

That's a good thought, I'll definitely try it!
