2020 was the blueprint...front office messed up...Mr. Pelinka should be on the hot seat
All you need is anther pandemic and you'll be the favorites
@@MaxrepfitgmAll your Clippers need to do is get rid of WestBRICK and theyll be favored to get out the first round for the first time since 2021
lol
@@Maxrepfitgmlakers were the 1 seed b4 the pandemic even hit you tweakin 🤦
All they needed was Dwight Howard and a healthy Vanderbilt and Vincent
Pelinca did well last summer. Lakers in the first half of the season seemed to do good even winning the in season tournament. The injuries to reddish, Vando and hood changed the team’s depth.
Size and Defense always showed us Everytime in every championship
The Lakers had the wolves defensive team in 2020 and blew it up. SMH.
Magic Johnson had the right formula. We need guys that are two way, long, and athletic.
like reddish and prince? hellllll no...rui lost all the time...we need IQ...this was one of the dumbest teams out side bron n AR...top to bottom ive seen...AR is a hell of a player
and young
The Lakers need to reclaim their defensive identity. You have a superstar in AD who has shown he can anchor a championship defense. You already have the blueprint go do it Rob.
As long as Lebron is on the r roster you're not establishing a defensive identity.
@@Maxrepfitgm You can have a guy that you have to hide a bit (like lbj, since he's old). The warriors hid Steph. The problem is you can't hide dlo, bron, and Austin. That's where losing vando hurt. Brons playing the 4, you can hide him defensively if you had perimeter defense...we don't...at all.
I think the playoffs has showed that size literally matters. The last time the lakers won a chip we were one of the biggest teams in the league and had a top 5 defense. Since then we’ve went away from what worked. Get a true center, move AD back to the 4, let Bron run point, fill in the guard spots with poa defenders who can play off ball and knock down the 3
That's what I've been saying. How do we know this and they have no clue? LeBron needs shooters that can hit shots to win. That's literally his blue print.
Bingo!! Size, length and athleticism are a most if the Lakers are to contend again. I have no idea what compelled Pelinka to move away from that m.o. of building a roster. It's been costly
@@luislaureano228It was an over confidence that they could just add MLE and veteran minimums around AD and LeBron and still win a chip instead of paying to keep some key returning players.
WHOA WHOA WHOA... size matters!?!?! IN BASKETBALL!?!?!? Someone tell Rob...........
@@schmitkeoriginals LOL!! right?
One concern I have with the 3-star model is that WHEN one of them is injured, we are in a bad place. There doesn’t seem to be an Iron-Man star these days. It’s hard enough to pick up the slack now!
Thank you Trevor and Sean
Playoffs proved the current roster is mediocre and not good enough to compete with the younger up and coming teams. (Minnesota, Denver, OKC, etc)
We could beat okc but minne and Denver no chance
Because we lost to last year's champs and the best team in the west while being coached by a 2nd-year coach.
This roster doesn't need any major changes. They just need an experienced coach who'll implement a consistent system on both ends.
@@YungGroveBoss Just because they beat them in the regular doesn’t mean they’re better. OKC is the #1 seed for a reason. I still couldn’t see LA beating them in a 7 game series. Lakers roster is just garbage. I’m tired of watching them dudes.
@@Timkbthesecond nah I’m saying that because AD is proven he can guard Chet and we can grab boards because okc not big enough to abuse Bron. Nuggets and wolves abuse us
@@improbablyyourdad8458 "This roster doesn't need any major changes." 😅
Quit kidding yourself...this roster is trash. 😑😜The aging Queen & AD got lucky this season with no real injuries to speak of. Next year both will be a year older & luck might not be on their side next season. 😂
Not to mention both are playing in the Olympics over the Summer. The aging Queen could barely make it through 3rd quarter in playoffs...nothing changing going forward.😅
Trev is so condescending if he doesn’t agree with someone 😂
This franchise needs a complete reboot. Ownership, Front office, GM, etc.. They’re gonna try to keep Bron as long as possible bc of ticket sales, but when he leaves, we’re cooked.
We’re cooked either way
Long story short lakers need to surround bron and ad with big strong defensive athletes something like 2020
Vando, Reddish, Gabe, Prince and to some extent, Rui were supposed to be that.
CWood was just happy and excited Darvin was gone. Hopefully next HC gives him more minutes.
What has he done, to deserve minutes?
I been saying this for 2 years! We need some bigs
We need everything we let go lol
Lost my voice saying that!
We good Wood and Hayes. Not pushing 7ft. Problem is/was a coach who’d rather play 3/4 6’3” inch guys instead of 2/3 7 footers. Hayes is athletic. He just needs a coach who’ll be patient with him and he can grow. Lob threat and a ton of upside
In a new system, Wood could be great. He's tall, can shoot, and showed he wasn't afraid to do some dirty work.
If Lebron wants to compete for a championship he has to sign for a cheaper contract so the management can get the pieces to compete because this current roster is not enough
That’s not how it works though, Lebron taking less money does absolutely nothing
He can’t take less so the Gm can go sign top tier players and still be under the 🧢?@@Foggycallabasashillshelicopter
OMG, I've been saying his for a few years. He needs to make some cap space if he wants some supporting cast.
I agree, but don't hold your breath. We don't take less, at our jobs. Nit impossible, but hard sell
Proves we need a big to play alongside LBJ and AD for 20-25mpg. *Unpopular opinion, but I commented several times during the DEN series Hayes needed time WITH LBJ AND AD.* He’s a 7ft athletic lob threat with a ton of potential. I think Ham seriously missed an opportunity to have him build continuity during the regular season by giving him CONSISTENT playing time. Let him learn and grow.
Unfortunately.... Ham had this fetish with 3-guard, small ball lineups that made no sense at all
He can't guard Jokic and is a fouling machine. He is a liability against Denver.
No AD to Clips for PG ,hell no
@@kuyab9122 y’all always focused on what someone can’t do. What about what he can do. Smh.
@@haywood0457 He can dunk. That's it. If he can't guard and fouls a lot, he is a liability.
I disagree with you guys, big 3 essentially means 3 max contracts and Denver, Boston, Milwaukee, wolves all have 3 max players
Top heavy won't get it done in this era...
@@Cahluvca obviously but BIG 3 just means 3 max contracts is what I’m trying to say 4 teams still remaining still have that… ant, kat, Rudy are all on max, it’s just through the draft which is the better way to
The last few nights I think we’ve seen a monumental shift of power in the west to OKC and the Timberwolves. The speed, length and energy made even Luka and Jokic look old and slow. The Lakers need those three things and Trae does not have length. I’ve been a Lakers fan since Jerry and Wilt laced them up. I believe our prospects aren’t good until we get some youth, otherwise just expect to be also rans for awhile until we get younger, lengthier and quicker. Shai and Ant are gonna go at it for a few years so let’s keep those picks and build for beyond.
To me the biggest thing we learned from playoffs without a doubt is that we desperately needed a back up center and we were very undersized. While we're probably bigger than the majority of league that was not the case vs nuggets and it wouldn't be the case vs Timberwolves either. 6'5 Reaves trying to guard a 6'10-6'11 MPJ summed it up.
That to me aside from getting the right coach is biggest priority this offseason. Getting a true back up center that can also share court with AD during streches and certain matchups and trying to get some bigger players particularly at sf.
Antoher thing to mention was our role players just weren't good enough. DLO, Reaves, Rui are talented and they've shown they can be great and have great games but with how inconsistent they were especially when aside from Bron and AD the 3 of them are supposed to be our offense i think it just paints a picture that you just can't have the 3 of them all back. I think you probably gotta move on from atleast 1 or 2 of them and that probably winds up DLO walking and Rui traded. The starters have to be consistent especially in playoffs it's just too crucial. To put it in perspective if they had averaged what they averaged during the regular season in series vs nuggets we would have won the series. They let us down and you just can't have 3 of your 5 starters do next to nothing out there and expect to win.
We didn't need the playoffs to tell us what has been blatantly obvious for two full seasons
P anyone who ever thought this team was going anywhere the way they give up offensive rebounds was a fool
Well I hear what you saying Trevor about the head coaches but you got Mark Jackson that build up Golden State you got Byron Scott that coach the Lakers and you also have Brian Shaw
We should focus on retaining our core as much as possible following the moves we need to make:
1. Secure a solid frontcourt with at least one other, but preferably two, solid defensive/rebounding big men.
2. Get a defense-first guard or forward.
We should keep to the two-star model that is proving to be the most effective in this day and age. Don’t waste LeBron last year or two
Surround bron & ad with defensive pieces and floor spacers
Also don't waste another year of AD prime defense
It further solidifies the fact that Lakers should stay the hell away from Trae. DONT need small upgrade on offense WITH an ENORMOUS Defensive liability. He is one of the worst! Even DLo's drtg is better
I think the thunder heard all that talk about them being easy marks in the playoffs bc of their inexperience and took it personally like MJ
For a three star model that’s mimicking Minnesota, you need a young 2-way guard/wing which is damn near impossible to find atp. Bron and AD cover the Gobert and KAT archetypes, they need to find the ANT archetype.
Exactly... that 3-star model example there also shows NO REDUNDANCY among the 3 stars, that's crucial. Phoenix "big 3" screams redundancy and we all saw the result. Also, their bench was not only thin, but same redundancy of 1-way players
@@luislaureano228my i suggest splitting the difference. Meaning, i don't see Lakers in Contention, with LeBron on team. While he still has value, i suggest trading him, if he opts in. You cant continue to build around him. As his replacement, a athletic 2 way wing, An Ant Man, Jaylon Brown, type. Or at least a prolific scorer, Mitchell, Booker, type. Also need an athletic PG. A serviceable Big. We need more 2 way wing players, a PG that can make plays, hit 3's, & play D. A Derrick White, type. A rebounding big, that can play D. Why they did not, try for Daniel Gafford, is stupid. He's perfect fit, beside A.D. Suggestions, rebuttals?
1. The Lakers, fully healthy with Vando and Reddish switching on Murray and the Lakers win.
We need a big man desperately
I don’t hear anyone talking about bringing in a shooting guard to play alongside Austin. He literally went a whole season being the only shooting guard on this team and we wonder why we didn’t have any offense.
I Wish Max got the development he needed.
Nope. We couldve had a fully healthy Dream Team and we still wouldve lost to the Nuggets as long as Dopey Darvin was coaching. lol
@@King_Jab don’t even get me started on why Max didn’t get to play during the Nuggets series when clearly he would’ve made a difference
No Cam can go Max is who you replace him with. Max is a better scorer and defensive upside. Cam is awful
@basketballgod2791 yes but i understand why he didn't play. If he got the reps during the season he would've fit in fine for playoffs. Honestly he's the better fit then Cam was the whole time and never got the chance. Wasting a roster spot on Cam imo
Shows that bigs were important and they didn't listen. The 4 guard lineup was the downfall.
We need another big
Video says:
3 stars won't work. Zero depth.
Going for depth won't work because LBJ is too old and can't carry the team during the season.
Need great defense to have a chance in the playoffs.
My summary:
I agree with all of that.
There is no path forward to get the Lakers in the position to compete for a playoff run.
LBJ no longer plays defense.
So why are we going to max out LBJ if there is NO PATH to being playoff competitive?
Apparently...Jeannie makes lots of money selling LBJ jerseys to Asia. 😫
Time to prepare for a long, terrible run of mediocrity for us Laker fam.
We had that Already
Wow!!! BOB MEYERS!!!!!!
It’s hilarious cause some folks wanted us to tank the pelicans play in game to possibly play against the thunder as the 8th seed . It was clipped for us either way man 😭 we are at the bottom of the barrel in the conference right now talent wise
Exactly... the Thunder would have overwhelmed the Lakers with their insane length and speed. The Thunder have also proven to be sneaky-good on defense as well.
@@luislaureano228 OKC loses in 5 to the Lakers, they’re too inexperienced and they’re too small. Bron and AD would have a field day w OKC inside. Lakers championship experience gives them the edge
@@LeGoatJames111 while I would agree with you with the Lakers advantages with AD and Bron against OKC, on the flipside... SGA and Giddey would absolutely have their way against DLO, AR and their wings are better than the Lakers wings.
@@luislaureano228 Giddey is a non shooter and will get sagged off behind the arc. Shai will get his but everyone else is limited. OKC wings are too small for Bron. Lakers are OKC’s kryptonite. OKC will get outrebounded by a heavy margin and get pounded inside. Chet will get abused by AD
Glad to see CW picked up his options and stay with the home team.
It's time to go young so we can run with young NBA players 💯
Yes Rob didn't get a big physical 5
Damn Sean 😵💫
Any possibility anyone in lakers nation can add time stamps once the videos are uploaded?
They’d be super useful
The teams still standing doesn't show us anything new. The biggest takeaway is defense. "Defense wins Championships" is a long running trope, that exists because the facts of NBA championship history show it. The last teams standing is merely more confirmation of what we already know to be true. Teams and stars who are known most for their offense are not the ones on top.
Ur take is half correct. Ultimately even if ur the #1 team on defense but terrible on offense ur still not making it out the first round. At the end of the day when teams are even matched (assuming they’re both elite at defense) it comes down to elite offense and elite shot making. “Defense helps win championships”
problem is fans were cool with vogel leaving because they hated the offense even though the defense was great.
@@Foggycallabasashillshelicopter oh defo. That's why I said "most" known for offense - as in that is more the identity. Not that there is no offense.
I think Sean and Trevor should exchange hats.
Refer to the Suns and Clippers on how well the 3 star model works. Keep working on depth and marginal improvements.
Need to keep depth & get younger and need a Big,don't want to lose depth especially WITH AD & LEBRON HEALTH!
There were times (several) in the Lakers series that the Nugget players looked tired. Against the TWolves, they really look tired.
Bron took a shot at Darvin in his new podcast episode 🤣
The thing about the Timberwolves is, what happens when contract time comes up?
celtics would qualify as a big 4 contract-wise. Porzingis makes 30 million a year, Jrue more than that, JB more than that, JT more than that
Missing on Jalen Hood Schifino really really hurts right now.
Lakers have young athletic players which matches what the other teams have..they jus need to develop REDDISH, CHRISTIE & VANDO's offensive game a bit in order to maximize their potential. These are long athletic wings.
Makes sense, but whiny win now fans and even some in the FO don't want that..."we're the Lakers, we don't develop!"....aaannnd how's that working for us?
Develop with Lebron and the Lakers? Lol 😆 🤣
Agree on christie and vando, but Reddish is a vet, and shown he isn't very good except for maybe being the 12th man.
Lewis is young and athletic and might develop into something. And don't forget Castleton and JHS. I know JHS looked bad, but he is super young and fearless out there.
The Lakers need continuity and two pieces. A big man and a coach. Plus health!
Starting PG who can play in the regular season and post season at a high level to compete with top western conference contenders who have a strong starting PG. Must play some defense as well.

It’s 2024 and Lakers fans are still asking about Phil Jackson coaching the team. It’s so dumb. Come on Lakers fans use your brain.
some clearly don't think logically they are too reactionary. some of them even want JJ as the coach it's just embarrassing not even the knicks when they were bad would sign a youtube podcast guy as their coach that says how stupid some fans truly are.
Wolves are 2020 lakers look at the starting lineup
no they’re the 2004 pistons. Inexperienced team that made a miraculous run to the finals. Lakers 2020 team had championship experience
Kenny is the man out of those 5.
Playoffs proved we need a center that can rebound. Play max Christie more and hopefully a healthy vando
Head Coach: Dawn Staley! Thoughts!
Stotts or Atkinson should get hired
Lakers roster is bad not Ham; you’ll made him the scapegoat
2020 was what you wanted. You had 2 stars along with 3 and D players (Pope, Caruso, Green), big men to help out AD (Howard and McGee), good point guard play (Rondo). The Lakers are missing all those pieces. Pelinka has done a horrible job since then.
A huge problem the lakers had all season outside of the having guards that are bad defensively and streaking offensively is not have 1 or 2 reliable bigs. Bigs that can shoot and contribute on defense consistently .💜💛
What the Lakers need to do to catch up and have any chance of competing with a dominating western conference is for starters get over the AD as the starting center and DLO as the starting PG obession‼️If you don’t start with upgrading those two important positions you are behind in the western conference. Every top team is better in those two positions.
That’s just the minimum of what is needed. If you don’t change those two keep the team in tact because your window is play in/1/2nd round exit anyway. And that’s only if Lebron stays and plays at the same level.
Celtics definitely have a big 3, but they also have really good depth I wouldn’t count holiday as big 3 I was thinking Porzing
It’s clear to win a championship you need defense & size. Both of which the lakers don’t have. I’m surprised you haven’t talked about their defense. They really need a coach that will turn the screws on that area.
I don't know why people can't see this. The META is changing. I'm pretty sure some of you gamers understand that. You have to be able to understand and adapt to those changes. Those who can't see, understand, and adapt will get left and run over.

Idgaf about the advanced stats, AD is a four and we’ll be more successful with AD alongside a BIG. Don’t pull a “wELL acTuaLLy”
Lakers dodged some bullets in regards to PG and Kawhi... actually, those weren't bullets, they were enormous bombs. Trae changing agencies may hopefully be another dodge!
dejounte,caruso,drummond..
Them and lebron and ad can be your starters or DM, Caruso, AD, Lebron and a 3. I hope they can keep at least Reaves for continuity, he's been here for 4 years now and hes a solid player and he has chemistry with Bron and AD, just needs to work on his defense.
Also need to get younger. Average top players pool age has decreased. Having all-vets squad is not a great model anymore

Much better team than this year
Much less skill set duplication, which was the lakers biggest problem
It's funny when people pay money to propose trades way under value ... especially when said trade/player has already been discussed on the show many times ...
Hell yes Rob should be on the hot set I don't trust him anymore
Hi Trevor who you rather have dejounte Murray or Alex Caruso
kyrie. Much better fit and is improved as a defender
Big 3's usually only work if you draft one or more of them. Otherwise, the role players all become minimum salaries.
The first thing the Lakers need to do is hire a coach that knows how to maximize the talent they have on the Roster. I think they need to start there. Rui, Max Christie, Thomas Bryant, Christian wood, Lonnie Walker were all misused by this coach that was just let go. Max Christie is behind on his development. I saw the improvement when he could get the playing time, but the problem was, he couldn't get the playing time I thought he'd earned.
Lakers really need Vando to improve to 35 percent from 3 next year also Wood needs to be the back up 4 instead of center keep 17 and draft a Wing or Center
even if spida doesnt take the extension, i dont think cavs gonna trade til next trade deadline.. they gonna wait for the best option. not gonna be that simple
Totally against trading for a third star, IMO. If they can... Go all in on OG Anunoby in free agency, trade for Caruso since D-Lo seems to be hinting at walking. But I suppose they must decide if they want to upgrade at center and sign someone like Jonas to start or get AD onboard with playing center full-time in-which case they desperately need a legit wing like OG.
Finally. They need more firepower. Check and see if DeMarr or Buddy Hield are willing to take a discount to play with LeBron and AD. Extremely doubtful they can do all of this, but some of these would be potentially fun, which is kinda the point of being a fan haha!
I love Austin Reaves but this playoffs really exposes why is was a undrated players, he lacks the length and athleticism to be a good defender. Looking at the Twolves is really where the nba is heading in the future you was players with size and skill, players like Naz Reid and Jaden macdaniels. These guys will consistently deliver on the defensive end given their physical gifts but have the ability to contribute on the offensive end but even of they are not making shots they still impact the game.
we don’t need no Christian wood ! that guy can kick rocks !!!
This Lakers fan is actually disappointed to see Denver go down
I think they are the only team in the west who can beat Boston
Furthermore, it just shows how bad the Lakers really were
When i saw the mavs vs thunder highlights i feel we would habe been torched by either of the team if we had faced them. Both are high 3 point cieling team . I see no chance against any of these team as we lack the Centre to support AD. And dlo and reaves are defensive liabilities.
If the Lakers would have had Donovan Mitchell they would be in the conference finals Donavon Mitchell single handedly carried the Cavaliers to the playoffs
All you gotta do is hire Shaq to train Jax. Left and right hand jump hook and pivot moves. AKA "feet work"
Gabe must go.
Cam can go.
Spence can go.
Keep Bron, AD, Dlo, AR, TP, Rui,Vando
The Timberwolves being up 2-0 on the Nuggets show two things.. #1 How much we missed a defensive dynamo like Jarred Vanderbilt and a lesser extent Cam Reddish. If a healthy Vanderbilt had been available to hound Murray all series long, the Lakers are playing the Timberwolves right now. #2 Rob Pelinka either has to go ALL IN and get all the pieces to surrond Bron and A.D to win now... Or just blow it the hell up now... 🤷🤷🤷
Aww😊 Trevor has a tabby cat .
The more I think about it. The more I want us to draft bronny.
The playoffs proves that the Lakers roster doesn't take accountability when they loose but blame everything on the coach.
We had MALIK MONK ON THE ROSTER & we definitely could of kept Dewight Howard at least 1 more yr after key was the key cog winning the chip ..those are no brainers
just start AD and CWOOD together next season.
Taking you guys forever plus 2 years, but your are slowly coming around to understanding that Polinka has been a problem.
Vando has been injured in HS college and the NBA. Already had surgery on his left foot. Better to move on.
The way the experts were gloating after the Lakers team was assembled, I was surprised. It was an ordinary team. More than the team, I was sick of the coach and the selection process. I now realize that Rob Pelinka is not capable of doing anything good. There is no point in following this team anymore.
How about Juwan Howard?
If the Lakers would have had Donovan Mitchell they would be in the conference finals
moving back to my topic earlier, how if you don't get vucevic then no one
is that, ya do know when i've said, there were a point in time that the boshtrich of the criami cheat with dwyane fraid being the hooker there is that, the boshtrich, even though managing to be examined like a flower forward as in softness, is that the heat managed their way to being the 6th best in rebounding efficiency. that is because i've read an article somewhere on their website a decade back. purporting mid 6 feet as beasts in rebounds. or live ball 50/50 along with glorifying the 3rd fiddle to be great mid ranger but horrible 3pter
if adhd managed his way to become a horrible 3pter but not necessarily overall like 19 footer then ya can just add mid range 3rd fiddle in there with other mid 6ft person who've worked somewhat of a wonder whilst not being known 3pter in taurine kings
there ya have it.
model the rooster with the coach killer at the 1 with bunch of mid range potential opening up the paint etc still with beast rebounds. ya gotta time yo trap with speed defense deflect joker back downs while it's predictable. but don't get too tall you lose the basketball for tos
My two guys the Lakers should target are Steven Adams and Klay Thompson.
I think the Rockets would be willing to part with him since Segun is now their star center, young and rising talent. Dude avg like 21pts 9 rebs 5 ast at 21 years old. I think it's safe to say Steven Adams will be coming off the bench and perhaps he would rather be a starting C on a different team. He's a great pick and roller , good passer, rim protector, screener, and locker room guy. His contract is $12mill expiring next season. Only downside is that he hasn't been healthy for the past two seasons, so there's risk in taking him. But for one year expiring contract i think it's worth the shot. not sure what the Rockets would ask for in return, but i think the lakers could make it happen.
Klay Thompson would be a great guy to get. I think the criticism he gets its unjustified. the gsw were terrible all around, low shooting % for everyone including curry and wiggins - team was dysfunctional especially with draymond green making the situation worse. Klay has definitely lost a step or two, but he still shot 40% 3PT last season in a down year and his defense is still above average, although he isn't the stalwart defender he was. I think in a different setting Klay could improve offensively and defensively, but at the very least he can give you elite 3pt shooting and 18-20 ppg, this the lakers really need. idk what the lakers could offer klay, or if he is even interested in moving on from GsW, but i think he's worth $20 mill yearly.

Holiday? Wtf? Porzingis is the 3rd superstar in Boston's roster, not Jrue freaking Holiday!
What do you all think about Demar Derozan to the lakers? The lakers IMO need a closer on the team so when it comes down to those times where its the end of games,(outside of Lebron) we need someone who we can rely on to score and get downhill without a screen at a high level and the only high level effecient scorer that would be available is Derozan. I also think we can get him for around that 20 mill range, so it wouldnt completely botch our depth. The best teams have two top dogs and then a player who is a star in their roles, (i.e. Porzingis, Gobert, Jalen Williams, MPJ, even Aaron Gordon) I think Derozan could fill an efficient and reliable scoring role. I think it could work, it reminds me of the miami bron days with Wade not being the best three point shooter but a good scorer and Bosh with his versatility, Those were Brons most talented teams and as he gets older he needs more talented teams to be able to compete.
