I became a fan the same year when the Lakers went on that 33 game winning streak. The Buss Family Trust, especially Jeannie has destroyed the Laker legacy. Their offer to Hurley was a disgrace. For the price of a vet min contract, the Lakers could have increased their offer to $15M a year for 7 years, total of $105M and Hurley would now be our coach with a change in culture. Ownership needs to sell the team.

When the Lakers had to beg a marginal All Star like Lemarcus Aldridge for a second interview because the messed up on the first interview let me know the Lakers the Jerry Buss ran was gone.
Jeanie Buss is a weak and emotional owner. She's not even a leader. Rob Pelinka and the Rambises polluted this franchise. This is NOT the Lakers anymore that we know!
It’s funny how lebron and the lakers have a toxic relationship. The lakers are not well run and Lebron wants to see them make moves and changes so he keeps making it known he can leave and yet everyone knows he won’t leave because of non-basketball reasons. lol it’s actually crazy.
Weve always had a win now mentality and Lebrons age only increased that more. Once he retires LA will just focus on developing until we land another superstar in free agency to pair up with AD
Whether or not we all agree the Lakers are synonymous with innovation is one thing. But the most important part that distinguishes the problems with the Lakers right now is that they are making bad basketball decisions. They have not been acting like the team that knows what it takes to win it all lately. I think this era, the Lebron era is a dark cloud over the Lakers and the drama associated with him are the problems with the Lakers (role players not playing well enough, coaching complaints, front office errors).
the lakers hadn't been in the playoffs in 5 yrs and were getting laughed at by lamarcus aldridge type free agents before bron made this terribly ran organization relevant again.
That is not accurate. AD led that championship and it’s typical of Lebron loyalists to say things like this. AD led that championship run and Lebron got everyone booted from the team and made it about him. Lebron isn’t leading anything (except stat lines) and the sooner the Lakers realize this, the sooner they move on
I’m cool with Reddick hiring. The front office just needs to empower a coach by giving him a long term deal and allowing him to form a system and culture. Back him by allowing him to make mistakes and grow as a coach. No more firing after one or two bad seasons! Consistency and chemistry is what this team lacks the most! We can have all the right players but without a solid system and good team and coach chemistry we will not avail.
Most important factor if it is Reddick is he needs experienced staff to help guide him. That first year will be the most important. It will basically be his crash course as assistant crammed into one year. So still a lot to figure out and people to recruit.
All Lebron James wants to do is try to add a third star and add his son to the team and the NBA is passed three stars we need good role players instead of a third star we already have a third star and on certain nights when Austin Reeves gets his chance to get it going he plays like a star
Since we've been pandering to LeBron we haven't been the Lakers. It's time to let him go and start building the championship winning culture once again. He's not the one who will bring us that. If they hire JJ and keep LeBron I'll be done with being a Laker fan until they both are gone.
See I think we are forgetting how it was before Bron got there, we weren’t building anything successful before him for year, so I’m not sure as presently constructed think we will all of sudden get it right if Bron is gone without really establishing an elite front office.
That's exactly how I feel. Only the ignorant think otherwise. I'd rather endure another rebuild than put up with this circus side show and the daily soap opera chaos and instability that Jeannie and LeEGO have turned the Lakers into.
I think it’s funny when Laker fans got upset that people said the lakers coaching job is bad because fans all talked about how glamorous the franchise is. Yet every day on Twitter, all I see is lakers fans and writers complain about everything from Jennie and rob, to the training and medical stay. Complain about the stars, about dlo, Reaves, reddish, Gabe, complain about everything and talk about how bad the organization is. But let someone else diss it, and it’s war.
@@Dewd54 yeah but you can get mad when people question why someone would want to be the lakers coach when you yourself constantly talks about how bad the organization has been from top to bottom lol. I’ve seen people literally do both.
@@Dewd54 I meant can’t get mad. It’s just funny to me. It’s like sibling that talk shit about each other but if someone else talks shit about one of them, they defend each other. It’s just a funny thing to me.
The Westbrook trade changed everything. It led to our championship coach getting fired, our ability to make improvements crippled, and that all has led to a perception that the franchise is dysfunctional.
It also led to one of Pelinka's few good moves to recover from his own mistake. Even that Russ dump trade IMO could've been better had they taken the original deal with Conley and possibly Alexander-Walker instead of DLo. That single trade has really been one of the only positives since they completed the AD trade. He's even hurt their scouting department by signing guys like 2nd round/undrafted prospects like THT, Caruso, Reaves and Christie to 2 year deals instead of 3.
As a fan of this podcast but not an actual Laker fan, easily the #1 annoying thing that everyone hates about Laker fans is that they think every team will trade them their best players in exchange for the Laker rejects 😂
@@alieneross7717 The amount of lopsided trades proposed by Laker fans where they send packages featuring Gabe Vincent in exchange for borderline all-stars baffles me. They think opposing GMs will gladly fleece themselves for the Laker gain
I am a huge laker fan, but I must say, I started to watch the other teams more often since Lebron is there ! They had a very good nucleus to build long term, they started to move away from it with AD ( which was a good trade in my mind) and afterwards everything went to hell as they listen to the Lebron (Win a chiampionship now) instead of doing what they did with Magic, you win one, but you continue to build for the future. Now the options are very limited and the future look bleak. They need a coach who would say no to Lebron and sit him more often then they currently do. Lebron was never a player who played high intensity for the full game, a 32-34 mins is enough and it gives the other player more touch so they grow as the season goes on. When in the playoff after they do not feel disfunction.
i feel like “legacy”, “storylines”, “rivalries”, and all that intangible stuff that made sports fascinating, at least with basketball, will die with lebron’s retirement. it’s become too emotionally detached in the NBA these days where it’s all about business and money and profit for players and franchises alike. i think of how luka said on that one podcast “i won’t play that long” when asked about chasing lebron’s scoring record. sure, maybe not lebron’s scoring record, but luka could’ve talked about competing with lebron’s legacy in other ways when his career is said and done. i don’t like how players sign max extensions then ask to be traded somewhere, dispassionate about the city they play in. i want it to mean something for a player to belong with a city. i want it to feel weird for a player to wear more than 1-3 jerseys over their career.
Let LeBron and DiLo go and get 3 top players and a couple of good bench players and rebuild. I would say if Reddick or who ever is the next coach, does not workout, Pelinka should go and Jeanne should reconsider her performance with the Lakers.
How are they getting those 3 top players? The cap room without Lebron and DLo is about $30M. If Hayes and Reddish don't pick up their options, $5M more. But that's also without Prince and Christie. If they strip down to rebuild, they still don't have their 1st next year (or 2027), so the Pels (and Jazz in 2027) benefit from any cratered seasons more than the Lakers would.
I love seeing comments here blaming the owner and front office. This is how it should be! Hoping every Laker fans get the real problem and not get overshadowed by their hate to blame players like Lebron and AD who are carrying this team. BLAME THE OWNER, FRONT OFFICE, AND THE BUM ROLE PLAYERS THEY GOT SURROUNDING THE TWO STARS.
The Lakers have been interviewing HC candidates for over a month. James Borrego is the only one who was interviewed twice. However JJ ReDick who was just interviewed this past weekend is all of a sudden is the front runner. Sorry, but unless LeBron gave Pelinka an ultimatum, JJ has no business being hired as the next Lakers HC. The FO needs to pick the best qualified candidate regardless of his connections to any player or FO staff.
I love how LeBron name keeps coming up when we question whether or not the lakers are the same. He only won a championship since he’s been there and led them in scoring as recent as this season. The franchise is the problem. When Magic left that was where the issues started. My humble opinion.
The last time the Lakers were really the Lakers is the '10 championship season. The 2020 season was chaotic for obvious reasons. But remember they got played by Kawhi the summer before. He had Jeanie and Rob running around SoCal like chickens with their heads cut off. Before that, Paul George said F the Lakers and went to the Thunder. He got mad that Magic didn't come get him before. He gave the finger to "Magic Johnson". Dr. Buss made the Lakers the Lakers. His genius, swag and leadership is greatly missed. He had the ability to work with challenging individuals, make difficult decisions, put out fires and leverage the Laker name to win on and off the court.
Huh? 2020 was chaotic? They had the second best record in the NBA prior to the shutdown which occurred with what 14 games left in the regular season. Kawhi played them for sure, I will never blame Rob & Jeanie for that.. but in the end what has that gotten him and the Clippers? I will never forget how he and PG13 played in that game #7 vs Joker & the Nuggets.
Lakers as an organization hasn't lost its shine, there's a reason why athletes mention the team every FA. If the Lakers honestly lost its glimmer etc they wouldn't of signed Bron or would have gotten AD lets be real here. If players cant handle the bright lights of Staples then maybe you're not the one 🤷♂, its that simple. Has the FO made dumb choices, yes, but what they're actively doing now is what we need to focusing on. If Rob fails to build a better roster, i wouldn't doubt he'd be fired next off-season, and thats a BIG IF.
Lakers are still the Lakers. The scouting dept has drafted very well and have found undrafted gems during Pelinka's time. They have done well managing the cap and going after stars. The organization has sucked with coaches since Phil left.

Lebron could leave easily
@@nickwarren7854he should prove alot of people wrong and do it.
Weve always had a win now mentality and Lebrons age only increased that more. Once he retires LA will just focus on developing until we land another superstar in free agency to pair up with AD
Summer League was fun when it was in Long Beach now it's not so fun because you have to go all the way to Vegas.
Trev, do you think Mitch Kupcheck tampers now or do you think he still waits? I remember that was so frustrating as a laker fan that he would wait
Lakers will be a play-in team again next season.
In starting order Magic, Kobe, West, Kareem, Shaq......
Kareem, Magic, Kobe, Shaq, West, Baylor, Chamberlain, Pau, Worthy, LeBron
Lebron isn’t leading anything (except stat lines) and the sooner the Lakers realize this, the sooner they move on
facts > hurt feelings
I’m cool with Reddick hiring. The front office just needs to empower a coach by giving him a long term deal and allowing him to form a system and culture. Back him by allowing him to make mistakes and grow as a coach. No more firing after one or two bad seasons! Consistency and chemistry is what this team lacks the most! We can have all the right players but without a solid system and good team and coach chemistry we will not avail.
uhhh....yeh, right!
If the father-son duo is allowed as a ticket and merchandise gimmick then everything stays the same until LBJ retires/leaves.
@@marcusgarvey6231Just try to act like you had male role models growing up. Try to be a man.
Try to act like a man.
Most important factor if it is Reddick is he needs experienced staff to help guide him. That first year will be the most important. It will basically be his crash course as assistant crammed into one year. So still a lot to figure out and people to recruit.
@@kevtn8 most important factor is LeEGO needs to leave and take his ignorant fans with him.
hahahaha! gray’s sport almanac 1950-2000 sweet!!!
Can't wait till the Lakers actually make a move
honestly they have to move on from Lebron to actually start building a legit contender
All Lebron James wants to do is try to add a third star and add his son to the team and the NBA is passed three stars we need good role players instead of a third star we already have a third star and on certain nights when Austin Reeves gets his chance to get it going he plays like a star
Yeah, great idea.. lets hire the "coach" that several players have issues with. Cant make this ish up.
Why is everybody trying to trade the farm. We were really close the last to seasons . All we need is a big and one more shooter.
Lakers is still big, the most thing make a franchise bigger is fans, Lakers has more fans than any team in the NBA.
Fitting a puzzle is part of business the Lakers been doing. The dark time should be over soon and glory will come back again.
News will probably come after the finals.
This sounds like Death of a Dynasty!
Have fun with that. Y’all were terrible without him.
Have they really pandered to him? 😅should I give list of things they said no to or how it was before lebron!
That's exactly how I feel. Only the ignorant think otherwise. I'd rather endure another rebuild than put up with this circus side show and the daily soap opera chaos and instability that Jeannie and LeEGO have turned the Lakers into.
@@parkeranimations3671 We're terrible with him.
Only thing I want to see different is LeBron leaving the Lakers. Yes LeBron has taken the shine away from the Lakers
😂 fr
The lakers are still glamorous even if the organization sucks. Both can be true
@@Dewd54 yeah but you can get mad when people question why someone would want to be the lakers coach when you yourself constantly talks about how bad the organization has been from top to bottom lol. I’ve seen people literally do both.
@@semajbrown259 yeah I mean I’m a lakers fan and I think it’s fine to not agree but it is stupid to get mad at other fans for thinking that lol
Celtics showed Lakers Front Office how to get it done.
"Helluva" Monologue Trev Dogg
Lakers lost a lot of value when trading for Westbrook. They don’t have enough to trade for what they need to win a title
It’s not his fault they didn’t go after bigs to contend with Joker, not his fault they kept Dlo @ the trade deadline
If you haven't seen Back to the Future II, "make like a tree and get out of here!"
I bet players will get signed during draft night due to losing out on a pick… draft gunna be more exciting
We Will Strike Back Next Season !!!❤ So Watch Out!🎉🎉🎉 😮😮😮 !!!
Trade LBJ & AD away. LA fan base can go back to not making the playoffs for another decade.
Exactly what I said
As a fan of this podcast but not an actual Laker fan, easily the #1 annoying thing that everyone hates about Laker fans is that they think every team will trade them their best players in exchange for the Laker rejects 😂
If anything it's always been the exact opposite...
We not gonna get #Klay #LakeShow?
i feel like “legacy”, “storylines”, “rivalries”, and all that intangible stuff that made sports fascinating, at least with basketball, will die with lebron’s retirement. it’s become too emotionally detached in the NBA these days where it’s all about business and money and profit for players and franchises alike.
i think of how luka said on that one podcast “i won’t play that long” when asked about chasing lebron’s scoring record. sure, maybe not lebron’s scoring record, but luka could’ve talked about competing with lebron’s legacy in other ways when his career is said and done.
i don’t like how players sign max extensions then ask to be traded somewhere, dispassionate about the city they play in. i want it to mean something for a player to belong with a city. i want it to feel weird for a player to wear more than 1-3 jerseys over their career.
Just because we let Lebron and Dlo walk dosent mean we get all that money back to sign players. We wouldn't even have 1 Max slot.
Shams better break JJ not Woj haha
La lakers need a veteran Coach like Phil Jackson they need to stop experimenting If they really want to win Lebron time is running out hes getting old
I love how LeBron name keeps coming up when we question whether or not the lakers are the same.
They actually dodged a bullet with Kawhi
Need a grown up in the room
The Lakers haven't been the Lakers since they traded Vlade Divac to get Kobe.
Fire Palinka
The Lakers were in the Western conference finals last year and won the inaugural tournament this year.
Stop acting like a bunch of Karens. 😂
The only reason the Lakers got them is because klutch identified Rob & Jeanie as marks, willing to pay for attention.
Lakers are still the Lakers. The scouting dept has drafted very well and have found undrafted gems during Pelinka's time. They have done well managing the cap and going after stars. The organization has sucked with coaches since Phil left.
Hart, Clarkson, Caruso, Reeves, Zubac, and Kuz. Great underrated picks and undrafted signs.
