Sooo.... As not to reveal spoilers, all I'm going to say is certain comments you've made make me HIGHLY recommend you watch the Tangled TV series. This. I was around 17~ when this movie came out and even after everything was said and done I made excuses that maybe Mother Gothel cared for Rapunzel in some way. That she couldn't have......faked affection for her for the past almost 18~ years.....right? That somewhere in her heart she loved her.
Whenever Mother Gothel shows Rapunzel any affection, she's actually showing it to her hair. In contrast, when Eugene does the same, he pushes her hair away from her face.
Same with him cutting it at the end, to show it was never about her hair and was always about her. Since basically her whole life her “mother” only showed her love for her hair. People get triggered at that part but I find it really really beautiful ☹️
They said they didn't get why Eugene's dream would be to be alone, but I bet it comes from life in the orphanage. He spent his childhood sharing everything in a house with perhaps dozens of children and is now living a life of crime where he has to constantly watch his back. It's no wonder he just wants peace and quiet. He wants to be alone where he can relax and to have things he owns that he'll never have to share.
Credit to Rapunzel's parents, even with the crushing grief and uncertainty they've been living with, it looks like they were still running a pretty good kingdom
For real. The fact that they didn't just fall apart after their tiny new baby girl, the rightful heir to their throne, a beautiful child that could have been taken for any number of horrifying reasons, was abducted while the queen was still on bed rest is baffling. They didnt spiral into oblivion, they didn't lie to their people, and they didn't stop trying to do right by them. Their people were betrayed too. Their princess was stolen. That is enough to put cracks in any nationalist's belief in their nation. But they also kept going and strongly supported their king and queen. And they never stopped looking. Not a single one forgot about her.
And not to mention they never had another baby. You'd imagine that a ROYAL family would try to ensure there would be someone to take the throne, but nope. Like Flynn says at the end: "she was a princess worth waiting for."
I know the Budz didn't like the "now I'm the bad guy," line, but for me it's always been one of my favorites. Accusing your kids of villanzing you is such a common defense against literally any parental criticism-- and while this is the scene where Mother Gothel is literally being revealed as a villain and therefore the context is kinda wonky, I think it's neat that they flipped it on its head. Usually, kids are like "no, you're just not listening to me," or become desperate to appease their parents' hurt feelings but this movie is like "yes. yes, you are the bad guy."
It also has the heavy weight of Gothel akcnowledging she thinks Rapunzel's the clear villain every time. It's a very narcissistic and manipulative tactic, and it works, as Rapunzel always feels like she's at fault for _everything._
I think Frozen is good too! I feel like Frozen was both over hyped and praised and over criticised (I was one of the people who dislikd it just cause of the song lmao). Considering I've heard nothing but good things about Frozen 2 I feel like it'd be a bit unfair to the series creators to call it a popularity win and nothing more. We probably wouldn't have had our Disney musical Renaissance without Frozen either!
You can really tell this by the costume design of all the characters, Mother gothels is the only 1 who's dress is strictly from the renaissance era while the rest of the characters are all in clothes that only come into style 1000years later
wow. I knew she was old, but not THAT old. maybe unintentional on the creators' behalf, but what's interesting about that is how people equate age and maturity. with narcissistic parents, they tend to be emotionally stunted or refuse to/are incapable of being healthy adults. you'd think with age would come wisdom, introspection, and ego loss, but no, not always. to take it further, some n-parents will distance themselves or 'lose power' as their child ages up into independence, but some will continue the abuse just the same even into old age and when they're literally reliant on their kids to live, if they see they can still hold some power over them.
I'm not gonna lie, when the tear fell near Eugene's eye and the healing began I nearly started screaming. In the original story, the prince is thrown from the tower by the witch, somehow survives, and loses his eyes to the briar patch he landed in. When he finds Rapunzel again, she weeps and her tears somehow heal his eyes. I didn't think Disney would be able to incorporate that into the adaptation, so I was really happy.
Same. A lot of princess/fairytale adaptations normally don’t include important plot details from their respective stories (looking at you Frozen) but I actually really enjoyed Tangled did include most of the main plot points, including the prince being saved with Rapunzel’s tears. And oh course changing the lettuce (aka Rapunzel) to being a one of a kind flower with a powerful ability. There is actually a deleted opening version where they tried being more accurate to the original story where Gothel actually owned the flower and was a witch/enchantress, but refused to give it to the king, and he stole it to save his queen. But I liked the final product instead, and its pretty hilarious how many people didn’t know Rapunzel’s name is actually German for a specific species of lettuce.
I heard they consulted a panel of women on their ideal male character and Flynn Rider is who they came up with. It reflects because he’s not a “good” guy and is up front about not wanting to help her initially and then discovers a bit of himself and changes, not FOR her, but because he wants to be better and decides to do the right thing. It’s so good.
I really appreciate the tear bringing Eugene back to life because it's a nice nod to the original tale. Granted in the original story the prince was only blinded (like that's not also terrible) by the witch, and Rapunzel's tears brought back his sight, but it's still a nice nod.
Fun fact in the German original the reason Rapunzel is named Rapunzel is bc her mother was craving Rapunzel lettuce (a German field salad) while she was pregnant. Her father went out to get some and ended up stealing the lettuce out of Mother Gothel‘s garden, who then in return stole young Rapunzel….yeah, no comment, as a child I never realised how strange that actually is 🤨 Also in that same version, Gothel actually throws the prince out of the tower and he falls into thorns, that then blind him and when Rapunzel finds him she cries and her tears end up giving him his vision back, but it that was too intense for Disney
I think they might have done this version in the movie Into The Woods ? or something similar ? I could be wrong but i remember a prince being blinded by thorns in that movie !
@kenna163 Yes and also in that version, Mother Gothel slowly dies trapped all alone up in the tower cause she accidentally drops Rapunzel's cut hair after using it to trick the prince into climbing up the tower
I feel so much for Rapunzel because she grew up not even knowing what her mother does is bad or is abuse, because her mother is the only reference she has. Rapunzel has no parameter. She thinks all her mother does must be out of love.
Another important thing about Gothel is that every interaction she has with Rapunzel she's constantly referring to her as Flower or only touching her hair affectionately
There's this cool way to watch tangled for the first time, which is where you skip the first 5 minutes, and watch the tangled movie without knowing that mother gothal is the true villain, so the viewers understand the plot when rapunzel does. It's pretty cool
Mother Gothel is one of my favorite villains because she’s so real. She reminds me of my own mother in some ways which makes me relate to Rapunzel very deeply.
Also Eugene's age was retconned in the show! He's 26 at the end of the show, roughly 23 in the movie. Still a bit of a gap but not *eight* years like it used to be lmao
The hair doesn't even simply heal, it literally reverses time. You would think that part would be obvious since mother gothel preserves her youth with it but its not widely acknowledged, most people think the hair heals and glows but NO. It doesnt JUST heal, it undoes the injury! Its even more meta! The song is also not just a song, either, its an incantation (or yk, the basic word for it is a spell). It glows once the magic is activated but can only reverse time when the full incantation is spoken. ‘‘Make the clock reverse, bring back what once was mine. What once was mine'' Rapunzel basically has the power to bring people back from the dead
They also wrote a book called “Mothet Knows Best” about Gothel and her childhood and her path as a witch, and it basically explained how the magic in this world worked and how she knew the song and developed her personality. Love the content, as per usual!
This is one of disneys best, the twist on the most well known classics, the chemistry and character development , the animation was stunning and so well written
Confirmed. My mom was very like Mother Gothel. When I saw this movie I was in tears over her reaction to experiencing the outside world for the first time.
something i really like about this movie is that many of the characters could easily be the protagonist. If you watch the scene when Rapunzel and Eugene meet, when he's tied to the chair, and you never watched the whole movie, you can easily think that he's the protagonist and Rapunzel is a quircky fun character he met at some point. They have such strong personalities and none of them have any kind of "protagonist trait", which make them so much relatible, compeling, even realistic and unique.
Oddly enough, Rapunzel’s relationship with Flynn is kind of like her relationship with Mother Gothel at first. Gothel is using her for her hair, and Flynn is going along with Rapunzel to get what he sees as valuable, the tiara. But the difference is, Gothel never learned to love Rapunzel for her but Flynn did. He realized she was much more valuable than the tiara or even her hair ❤ alright, I’m gonna go cry about it now 😭 Best. Movie. Ever. (In my opinion)
Flynn and her had a mutual deal that they were both on board for while Mother Gothel was her kidnapper and abuser (verbal) that's two very different scenarios. One she was in on from the get go the other was completely unknown to her. What a strange comparison
My favorite part is definitely when she heals flynn cause its when we realize that her power is within her, not only in her hair. Also her love for him evolved her power, you can see that it was more powerful than ever when she heals him.
There’s a video essay about skipping the 5 minute prologue and it makes the movie even better because everything is explained later and it becomes more of a mystery. it’s just so amazing
@ObservantWonderer technically no, but if you think about the emperor of China he's technically the King, and the "father" of China. Mulan becomes like an honorary daughter to him, ergo a princess. Extremely long winded but you could see it that way
“Youth may be fleeting but mistakes are forever” 😂 this opening is by far my favourite haha I was wondering do you come up with most of them or are some of them lines or quotes from movies etc?
Since it’s December I really hope we get a reaction of Anastasia soon! Now THAT movie is one of the best animated musical movies of all time, in my personal opinion. I mean there’s literally a song called “Once Upon A December” after all!
my relationship with this movie has always been really complicated (it came out when i was 8 or 9. my mother was like gothel personality wise so i saw myself in rapunzel, but i look a lot like gothel so the person i would act scenes out with - also abusive btw - would always insist i play her), but it's been one of my favourites because i related to it so much. as a jew, gothel's design combined with the plot* reads a lot like blood libel to me, and i really appreciate you pointing out the design. not many reactors do and i think it's this movie's biggest flaw and needs to be talked about more because when it isn't, this messaging is subconsciously seen as normal in media, if not true irl. *curly haired, hooked nosed woman who uses magic to deceive others (into thinking she's young) kidnaps a blonde child to use in a magical ritual. she's an overbearing, bossy, manipulative mother who keeps herself and her 'child' separated from the wider community. no good (or any other?) characters look like she does, and although a subplot is about how 'ugly' =/= evil, that does not extend to jewish features which, especially at the time, were and are widely considered ugly in the real world. imo, the plot alone makes it quite concerning, but choosing to portray the characters with these specific features (not just gothel, i'm also thinking about rapunzel's blonde hair, which was the focus of the movie + her small, upturned nose, shared with most of the other female characters making gothel's otherness so clear) feels like a deliberate choice. even if it was an honest mistake, there probably should've been a sensitivity test? or someone should've pointed it out? idk.
One of my biggest favorite movie to watch, especially when I was little. I would watch this almost everyday and would reenact and say the lines along with the movie. I remember grabbing a long bed-sheet, wrap it around my head as if it were rapunzel's hair and tie it around the bar of my window and 'slide-down' to my bed like how Rapunzel finally slid down from the tower.
She didn't actually technically *choose* to have her hair cut, Eugene just cut it, of his own volition, before she could heal him, so that Gothel wouldn't be able to use its powers anymore.
Rapunzel was always my favorite princess, even before she was a Disney princess! I grew out my blonde hair to be long just like her when I was little! So when tangled came out, I was elated at how wonderful the movie was, giving her the Disney princess movie she deserved! The soundtrack is amazing
Disney created a whole new hair rendering system based on volume for Rapunzel. They went with the title "Tangled" instead of "Rapunzel" because they wanted to appeal to a larger audience. They felt "The Princess and the Frog" underperformed at the box office because the word "princess" was in the title. They did the same thing with "Frozen," which was loosely based on the story "The Snow Queen." The behind-the-scenes info for Tangled is super interesting. It changed the way they approached future movies.
48:15 I think part of the reason this movie feels so well put together is because of how closely it actually follows the 'monomyth' or 'hero's journey' formula. When I was in high school, I had to do a project where I compared The Odyssey to a modern book or movie (using the 'hero's journey' structure) and I chose Tangled. It was almost surprisingly easy to sit down and break the movie up into the different archetypes and stages.
The tear thing is a callback to one of the original stories ( not the Grimm version) where it was always her tears that healed/rejuvenated and as she grew up the witch started torturing her when conventional means of getting her to cry stopped working. The torture would ramp up everytime she got use to it (I believe the witch also used some of the tears to heal Rapunzel so she wouldn't risk killing her). After the prince is blinded she heals him because he made her cry with his kindness not pain.
@xejelah It's the original one from Germany. Also in that version, Rapunzel gets pregnant with twins and Mother Gothel finds out because Rapunzel innocently remarks about how her dress has been getting tighter around her waist lately. The witch punishes Rapunzel by cutting off her hair and then banishing her a desert where she gives birth. The witch then tricks the prince into climbing back up the tower with Rapunzel's cut hair and he falls into sharp brambles below, which blind him and he wanders around aimlessly until he wanders into the same desert that Rapunzel and his children are in and Rapunzel uses her tears to restore the prince's sight. And Mother Gothel slowly dies trapped all alone in the tower after accidentally dropping Rapunzel's cut hair
It's just great in every aspect - the cinematography, the dialogue, the songs, the details of the story and how each character interacts with each other and their separate motives. LOVE IT SO MUCH
I know there’s a lot of movies that have incredible visuals but I particularly love this one! The texture of her hair, the way it shines, the water scenes, the town, etc. ☀️💕 As always, amazing reactions guys!!
Another small detail that I like about this movie is that she says "did I mumble" instead of "did I stutter", cuz so many movies (even kids movies) mock stuttering and it's so ableist. I'm glad that iconic line didn't get messed up by her saying it that way
@@Ultimaniacx4 the problem with that is "did I stutter?" I'd a widely accepted phrase, even if it is ablelist it is a common saying which is accepted. So having her say that wouldn't show how bad of a character she is, it wouldn't convey that message to an audience who uses and accept the phrase. It would simply be making people who do stutter uncomfortable, seeing how normalised it is mocking their disability
That doesn't make sense. I have never heard somebody say that "Did i stutter" was a offensive thing. And a person, even a kid definetly wouldn't start making fun of stutters because of a common saying.
@@matijasostojic4288 1. it is offensive 2. a saying being common doesn't mean it isn't ableist 3. you haven't met children if you think they don't repeat things they hear, even if cruel it's super weird that people are arguing she actually should've said an ableist statement when I was just commenting it was awesome that they didn't use an ableist statement in a somewhat old movie 🤦🏻♀
Maximus looks like he's based on this Spanish breed of horses called Andalusians. they were originally bred to be war horses and they do style their manes like that. especially in dressage, which is a sport now, but it was used as intimidation tactics in war.
i love that you brought up Chuck cuz that show was amazing, and in the Tangled series Yvonne Strahovski who was Sarah in Chuck plays the character Stalyan which was so fun to see them acting together again
Tangled is just all around good and well rounded, I love it and still remember the first time I watched it. The series as well, absolutely wonderful!! Every single little detail in the movie is so skillfully done, I can't help but admire it every time, I can never get tired of it, I didn't really feel this way about a Disney movie until Turning Red recently but Tangled, absolute classic in terms of princess movies and just good movies and storylines in general, love it so so much!
I like how in the movie, in the song while healing flin’s hand she says, “change the fates design”. Making the connection from Hercules, the Fates you cut a string representing someone’s life. That’s the connection I’ve made.
What I like about Rapunzel and Eugene, is that there is actual commucation and consideration happening between them, which is not really common in disney princess movies
I am so excited to see your reaction on Tangled which is one of my favorite Disney movies. •Also, it’s interesting to watch the psychological aspects of the movie between Mother Gothel abuse towards Rapunzel. •A RUclips channel called Cinema Therapy covered about that topic.
I've just realized another parallel with this film and Hunchback [...], during Rapunzel's confrontation with Gothel about what the world is like. As Quasimodo states, "all my life you've told me what a dark, cruel place the world is. But now I see the only thing that's dark and cruel about it is people like you."
One of my favourite things about the series is how they bring back some of Eugene's chaotic energy that showed up in snippets in the movie. (OFC BEWARE, slight spoiler out of context here) but I've never laughed so much as when the "do you really think you can defeat me?" / "You forget that we’re in a room full of magic artifacts and I dOn’T kNoW wHaT ANY oF tHem DO!" dialogue happened. Made me appreciate him even more
I haven't watched a Tangled series, but I did hear that there is an episode where Rapunzel finds an island where all the floating lanterns landed and she sees all the lanterns people sent out for her over the almost two decades.
i never saw the healing tear as "one last one," but as a reveal that it was never exclusive to her hair; the flower's magic saved her life not just her hair, it's in her entire being, it's just that the hair was very obviously linked to it. she's also never really had reason to cry while singing the song, let alone be in a position for that tear to land on someone that needed healing.
With the whole tear thing in the original rapunzel story her lover had his eyes scratched out by thorns. She cried over him her tears falling into his eyes and healing him. The magic hair though is all Disney it’s been awhile since I read an original princess story but I’m pretty sure her hair was just long not magic.
I loved the original tale of Repunzel as a toddler. Even more so, when I saw Barbie as Repunzel when I was like 4-5 years old. Funny enough, when Tangled first released, I delayed watching it. But when I did, ❤ I absolutely loved it ❤ so I didn't panic when Eugine cut Repunzel's hair, rather it was really touching, the selfless gesture of him thinking about her rather than himself even at the cost of his life! It just gave his 'love interest' character more depth, than just being there. I love how the movie showed more, than telling. 💛💛
Rapunzel is turning 18 she wants to see the lanterns for her birthday. Flynn is 25 I believe. So 7 years is the widest princess to her 'prince' age gap in newish Disney movies. (Unless Marvel comes up, but in newer princess movies.) (I heard that Snow white was 14 and Prince Florian was 27 which yikes but I think they probably changed it in remakes)
I had to watch a few times before I realized Flynn says "You should know this *isn't* the strangest thing I've ever done!" Which just makes me wonder...what's the strangest thing he's ever done?!
One of the best Disney movies ever! It's hilarious from start to finish! I think it's supposed to be a parody of Rapunzel and at the same time, it's supposed to be self aware that it's a Disney movie.
One of my favorite Disney Princess films!! Tangled Tv series is really great in stretching out the world & characters within the 3 years before they actually got married.
Fun fact: in the original fairy tale Rapunzel's tears heal the prince after the witch pushes him out of the tower and gouges out his eyes with thorns. I think it is showing that the power of the flower is just part of her even if the hair was the most obvious sign of it.
The first time I knew of Zachary Levi was, and I don't know whether I should be happy or embarrassed about it, but he was in the second Alvin and the Chipmunks movie. He played Toby.
30:20 So it's really interesting that Flynn's dream SEEMS narcissistic and self-serving but when you find out he grew up in an orphanage, taking care of younger kids and has never had anything to call his own, it makes a lot more sense.

Tangled is a masterpiece. Thanks for your reactions. Keep up the good work.
It truly is 😊 no worries, thanks for watching - Sam
I feel so much for Rapunzel because she grew up not even knowing what her mother does is bad or is abuse, because her mother is the only reference she has. Rapunzel has no parameter. She thinks all her mother does must be out of love.
Another important thing about Gothel is that every interaction she has with Rapunzel she's constantly referring to her as Flower or only touching her hair affectionately
Hearing that Steph has watched Tangled The Series made me so freaking happy
Me too. I get so happy when people talked that the series!
There's this cool way to watch tangled for the first time, which is where you skip the first 5 minutes, and watch the tangled movie without knowing that mother gothal is the true villain, so the viewers understand the plot when rapunzel does. It's pretty cool
i wish i would've done that
Mother Gothel is one of my favorite villains because she’s so real.
It's definite a better adaptation than Frozen. You can't even say that Frozen is an adaptation of the Snow Queen with how much they changed the story.
I deeply appreciate that they made Mother Gothel a walking red flag, pretty much literally. Artistic choices like that are just **Chef's kiss**.
My absolute favourite Disney Princess movie. It’s just perfect in every single way.
Confirmed. My mom was very like Mother Gothel. When I saw this movie I was in tears over her reaction to experiencing the outside world for the first time.
yeah when i first saw this movie i was like 5 and i compared my mother to gothel not even realising how bad of a mother she was
something i really like about this movie is that many of the characters could easily be the protagonist.
"If you don't look at plants you go insane" said so earnestly had me dying 😂
Oddly enough, Rapunzel’s relationship with Flynn is kind of like her relationship with Mother Gothel at first. Gothel is using her for her hair, and Flynn is going along with Rapunzel to get what he sees as valuable, the tiara. But the difference is, Gothel never learned to love Rapunzel for her but Flynn did. He realized she was much more valuable than the tiara or even her hair ❤ alright, I’m gonna go cry about it now 😭
Best. Movie. Ever. (In my opinion)
Honestly he never even seemed interested in her hair ever. 😂 just weirded out.
no
Flynn and her had a mutual deal that they were both on board for while Mother Gothel was her kidnapper and abuser (verbal) that's two very different scenarios. One she was in on from the get go the other was completely unknown to her. What a strange comparison
and in doing so Gothel loses everything while he gains everything
i literally love this commentary of tangled, i love the movie and seeing u guys commentate makes it 10x better😅😅😅
Thanks so much 😁 - Sam
My favorite part is definitely when she heals flynn cause its when we realize that her power is within her, not only in her hair. Also her love for him evolved her power, you can see that it was more powerful than ever when she heals him.
There’s a video essay about skipping the 5 minute prologue and it makes the movie even better because everything is explained later and it becomes more of a mystery. it’s just so amazing
Tangled and Mulan are just THAT GREAT❤
And I think both of them are some of the Disney Princesses that have 2 parents.
@@wonderlucky1912 Mulan isnt a Princess nor is the movie technically a Disney Princess movie
I also want to know this!
This and Emperor’s New Groove are my two favorite Disney films to rewatch. I love seeing y’all’s take on this.
Since it’s December I really hope we get a reaction of Anastasia soon! Now THAT movie is one of the best animated musical movies of all time, in my personal opinion. I mean there’s literally a song called “Once Upon A December” after all!
I second that, I love that movie's theatrical stylings. No wonder it's adapted into a broadway musical.
Yesssss
Can never see it the same after finding out that it was based on a true story
Sam's dejected disappointment over humans needing to see plants to make them not go crazy is kinda hilarious.
my relationship with this movie has always been really complicated (it came out when i was 8 or 9. my mother was like gothel personality wise so i saw myself in rapunzel, but i look a lot like gothel so the person i would act scenes out with - also abusive btw - would always insist i play her), but it's been one of my favourites because i related to it so much. as a jew, gothel's design combined with the plot* reads a lot like blood libel to me, and i really appreciate you pointing out the design. not many reactors do and i think it's this movie's biggest flaw and needs to be talked about more because when it isn't, this messaging is subconsciously seen as normal in media, if not true irl.
Mandy Moore has always been one of my favorites, ever since she came on the scene in the 90s! She's awesome! I'm so glad she got this and This Is Us.
Tangled is the first Disney movie to actually make me cry in awhile when I first saw it. I love it so much!
The amount of joy I got from hearing you sing "secret tunnneeeell, secret tunnneeeell~" 😂
It changed the way they approached future movies.
the atla reference is A+

I think part of the reason this movie feels so well put together is because of how closely it actually follows the 'monomyth' or 'hero's journey' formula.
After the prince is blinded she heals him because he made her cry with his kindness not pain.
where is that story? or maybe what region did it come from is what i should ask?
@@xejelah Honestly I'm not sure. I remember reading about it in a origins of fairytales kind of book when I was like 14
@xejelah It's the original one from Germany.
LOVE IT SO MUCH
15:33 there’s a 6 year age gap between them actually (confirmed in the series) so rapunzel was 17-18 in the movie while flynn/eugene was 24
you should watch "she loves me", zachary levi plays the main character and sings a lot. also the musical itself is just lovely
I know there’s a lot of movies that have incredible visuals but I particularly love this one! The texture of her hair, the way it shines, the water scenes, the town, etc. ☀️💕 As always, amazing reactions guys!!
Honestly, Gothel could've of avoided her yearning to leave by letting Rapunzel enjoy the hidden outside area around the tower.
Another small detail that I like about this movie is that she says "did I mumble" instead of "did I stutter", cuz so many movies (even kids movies) mock stuttering and it's so ableist. I'm glad that iconic line didn't get messed up by her saying it that way
That's stupid. It wouldn't been better to illustrate how bad Gothel is. Instead the horrible villain is careful about being offensive now.
@@matijasostojic4288 1. it is offensive 2. a saying being common doesn't mean it isn't ableist 3. you haven't met children if you think they don't repeat things they hear, even if cruel
it's super weird that people are arguing she actually should've said an ableist statement when I was just commenting it was awesome that they didn't use an ableist statement in a somewhat old movie 🤦🏻♀
@@smolsmile5254 thank you!
Maximus looks like he's based on this Spanish breed of horses called Andalusians. they were originally bred to be war horses and they do style their manes like that. especially in dressage, which is a sport now, but it was used as intimidation tactics in war.
Mother Gothel design is inspired by Cher (she's 77 and still young), so everyone is rooting for her to accept the live action invitation
I love the song “ready as I’ll ever be,” but honestly it was this reaction that has actually gotten me seriously interested in watching the series!
i love that you brought up Chuck cuz that show was amazing, and in the Tangled series Yvonne Strahovski who was Sarah in Chuck plays the character Stalyan which was so fun to see them acting together again
Mother Gothel reminds me so much of my biological mom and it hurts to watch but I love this movie so much
Tangled is just all around good and well rounded, I love it and still remember the first time I watched it.
Literally watching this while using my largest cast iron pan to bake in 😅
You guys should do Rise of the Guardians for Christmas or Christmas time-ish. It's awesome if you haven't seen it
I 100% believe that Eugene is telling this story as a bed time story to there kids
Merida from Brave, Aurora from Sleeping Beauty, Moana from Moana, and Mulan from Mulan have both their parents 💕
I've just realized another parallel with this film and Hunchback [...], during Rapunzel's confrontation with Gothel about what the world is like. As Quasimodo states, "all my life you've told me what a dark, cruel place the world is. But now I see the only thing that's dark and cruel about it is people like you."
So glad you guys enjoyed this movie! It’s been one of my favorites since I was 8 and my mom took me to see when it first came out.
Made me appreciate him even more
have you ever realized that this is a movie about a girl who was forced to stay inside to keep her away from Corona? This movie predicted to future...
The series does explain the song. But most importantly (as you can hear from the lyrics) the magic doesn’t heal, it reverses time
Did you know besides mulan, Rapunzal is one of the only Disney princesses who fights along side sora in Kingdom Hearts
We feel the same thing for this gem of a movie! And Steph, our nail colors match! 💜
I loved Tangled.
Such a great movie 😁 - Sam
I love this movie, and I love the Budz- Happy Holidays Guys ❤
Thanks so much! Happy holidays my dude 😊 - Sam
With the whole tear thing in the original rapunzel story her lover had his eyes scratched out by thorns. She cried over him her tears falling into his eyes and healing him. The magic hair though is all Disney it’s been awhile since I read an original princess story but I’m pretty sure her hair was just long not magic.
yeah its just long because she wasnt able to cut it
I loved the original tale of Repunzel as a toddler.
The fact that Mother Gothel can't even say "I love you" to Rapunzel without making it a competition is just such great writing.
Zach Levi starred on Broadway in the musical She Loves Me
I had to watch a few times before I realized Flynn says "You should know this *isn't* the strangest thing I've ever done!" Which just makes me wonder...what's the strangest thing he's ever done?!
Rapunzil really ought to have a neck like a pro linebacker
Wild child please ❤️ That movie is so underrated
I really like y’all videos. I enjoy how deep y’all go into the movie and bring up stuff that I’ve never even thought about just like finding Nemo.
Mother Gothel really f’ed up when she told Rapunzel what day her birthday was…😂😂😂
Super pumped for Ever After!
(whether it happens next or not 🙂)
The first time I knew of Zachary Levi was, and I don't know whether I should be happy or embarrassed about it, but he was in the second Alvin and the Chipmunks movie. He played Toby.
15:35 No, he's actually 5 1/2 years older than Rapunzel as many people have actually predicted to be correct
YAY for Ever After!! It's a fantastic twist to Cinderella.
30:20 So it's really interesting that Flynn's dream SEEMS narcissistic and self-serving but when you find out he grew up in an orphanage, taking care of younger kids and has never had anything to call his own, it makes a lot more sense.
The witch mother reminds me of someone I know, in looks too!! 🤣🤣 People have parents like this and partners like this..
I love this movie too cause it’s one of the movies back then that actually has both parents alive and well to the end lol
