Ahhh, if only this video came out two months ago!! I just got it to kill team myself and you literally went over every decision I spent hours making in 20 minutes.
I bought the Space Marine Adventures board game just to get me at least 5 of 6 operatives for the Angels of death kill team for $30. No eliminator, but I at least have a heavy intercessor. For stuff like tokens and terrain, I'll probably start by cutting out cardboard, using jenga blocks, or popsicle sticks, toys, bits and bobs. Dare I mention building terrain out of legos? 🤔
Quick question: is there a video out that explains all the tokens? I feel a bit overwhelmed with all the different choices that came with Hive Storm/ Starter set
@@martinfridrich5281 currently no. In general, tokens are merely representations of effects on the field. You don't necessarily need to use them as long as you remember. Who is under what effect. The key ones are the ones that mark where certain things like mines and traps are on the field. You just use the small ones to represent that due to the size requirement for being within control range of an operative. It's mostly about using or presentative things for you to reference what is going on. Beyond that, you don't need to worry too much usually.
The faction rules section on the kill team app/ Warhammer community download has a page showing what each token is supposed to represent for teams that have them. But like in kimerex's reply they're entirely optional
@@FripFrops88 the common trend is something like 6 years. But nothing is truly set in stone. During its time, though, balance dataslates will potentially tweak the core rules a little, so keep an eye out for those.
So technically speaking, If I'm *truly* fine with the loadout that comes out of the "two-box" team and assemble the models in a way that follow the team composition rules, then I don't have to buy another box? As someone starting out in the hobby as a whole, I'm more concerned if the box I'm purchasing is rules legal than whether the team is "optimal" or not.
Ya. If your fine with it. It's just the trick with some teams. If you can only build a flamer -or- melta type weapon and you go one way, you may struggle into others. But as long as your ok with it you can be fine.
I just got the hivestorm box set . I never Played kill team before thinkin I might just stick to the factions came with it . Has all the data cards ect . Trying to teach my 10year old how to play lol
@@bradleykey2288 over time with updates from the community page, any balance issues might get tightened up. Last i heard it felt like the Aquilon were a little stronger at times.
@@UltramanStrikerV2 i do not have an answer. I do want them. Would be cool to get some leapers or something. Hopefully they get a team this season. But it's up to G Dubs.
The word on the street is that they don't really have 'operatives' or 'agents' that would fit with the theme of the missions. They are all about a mass of killing machines eradicating everything in their path rather than covert ops, hacking terminals, uploading coordinates, calling in evac etc.

Another top-class video. Cheers, Kimerex.

Kimerex speaks, we listen.
These has convince me to... not get into Kill Team and has made me look into more of the direction of Boarding Actions as a new player.
not everyone’s cut out for killteam🤕
Great video! Glad to see someone giving an honest perspective on the new Starter Set vs Hivestorm!

Thanks guys! This helped me a lot!
I just got the new starter set and considering getting the core book. As it is currently the end of 2024 how long will this corebook stay up to date?

Will those factions that came in the box be Balanced to vs each other ? Or will 1 be more meta than the other team ?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but apart from two additional light barricades, don't you need two additional extended ladders, too?
There are two retracted that i tend to use and just consider the 4" height from their location, so it's decent to get around.
Question: Why are there no Tyranids in this edition of kill team?

what is the ballsack I keep waving at the camera in the first thirty seconds?
