    As a former rider & since team mechanic over many years.
    GIANT absolutely make high quality & great value frames, bikes & wheels, but guys & gals...don't be swept along in all manufacturers marketing quoting improvements on past models etc etc.
    You the rider, the engine, is what matters in the real world.
    Put a high level rider on a 20yr old bike & he/she will still perform at the high level.
    Put a low lever rider on the very latest, lightest, most expensive bike & he/she will still perform at a low level.
    Use your brains & common sense.

      Couldn’t agree more. My philosophy on cycling is simple: Mount bike. Ride bike. Repeat.

      Completely true. But the issue is I have the money, but not the time. Getting an expensive bike is more like buying a Porsche, it’s totally useless to save time, but gives me joy to ride.
      I wouldn’t overspend looking like a pro though or wear team gear, I would feel embarrassed when getting dropped.

    Looks much better than the previous one - the frame geometry, the paintjob, everything! Just not sure about that stem being 'open' along the bottom though.. Aero bikes I guess find their use in the peloton, me as a mere amateur I enjoy exposed cables and older non-aero classic frames.

      I very much prefer integrated internal routing with under-stem routing, a stem length swap still takes only minutes like a regular road bike. I did this for my customer's third-gen Venge and boy, was I glad Specialized learnt from their mistakes.

    I'm from Australia and those prices (if true) are actually quite "cheap" considering the current market we're in.

    Notice no one is answering the question of what other disc brake Aero bike is lighter? The ISO post is the main thing the comments complain about even though you can now stack something like 4.5 cm of spacer to lower your seat if you want that option (for my son to ride, for example) or leave it long as possible for resale value. I have a 2017 TCR SL and have no problem with the ISO. It’s likely not only lighter but also more compliant. I even fit the whole ML TCR SL into a bike box for international travel without having to remove the seat with no issue. Can’t wait to get one!

    The last-gen Giant Propel has always been my least-favorite aero bike. I always thought the tube shapes looked chunky, almost cartoony, and the stem cap looked like a sharp, self-impaling beak that could kill the rider in a crash 🤕 BUT - compared to this new unbelievably beige, expected, turnkey “all-in-one-racer” … I actually like the old one more. It had character. This new one looks like an amalgamation of CAD tube shape best practices. No thank you.

    Yes. This Propel has thicker Downtube and make the bike look nice from afar even. I have been a fan of Giant bikes for a long time. But now, after advising them on how consumer feels , they are still not getting it right. In 2012, I said that the colours of the bike is not nice. Yes, in 2013, they begin to change to more colourful. Then, later, I told them that the entire name should cahnge. Liv is such a good name. Not GIANT. Think of a better name. The bicycle design is not special eventhough the bike rides the best in the world. You know how a Pinarello look, Right? You know how a TREK look, right? Giant may be the best riding bike in the world but yet, many consumers like a good looking bike. The TCRs look so plain. Not nice at all.

    It's not a bike without pedals. Put pedals on the bike then weigh it again. Then go back and change your description to say it weights 7.3kg

    You should weigh the bike without saddle. It would be event lighter! And unrideable as without pedals. 🤣

    Cyclists have more money than sense, look what motorcycle you could get for this sort of money, proper track race set up 200mph, that's what is called value for money, why do they fit disc wheels,when their ultimate aim is to produce a light bike?

    • @einundsiebenziger5488
      @einundsiebenziger5488 2 года назад +1

      The vast majority of cyclists does NOT have this kind of money. These bikes are for bat-shit crazy rich people who would not know what else to spend their money on (a situation I wish everybody could be in, admittedly). Sad thing is, the only "trickle-down effect" from the increasing number of vastly overpriced superbikes is that lower-tier bikes are getting insanely expensive, too.

      If the ultimate aim is to produce light bicycles, then they might as well not add brakes at all.
      Use your head. A disc brake wheel is there for safety, and they aren’t going to compromise that performance by adding rim brakes just to save a few grams.

    • @AbeEhlers-io5vt
      @AbeEhlers-io5vt 8 месяцев назад

      This bike is 15 lb with disc brakes. Okay add your pedal weight to that. Still very light. $12.5k is not bad for a peak performance Tour stage winning race bike. A top performer motorcycle is at least $50k and a top car like a Supercar is six figures if not in the millions, so why compare a Bugatti or Ducati with a $12.5k bicycle. A Bugatti is for a “bat-shit crazy rich people,” not this.

      @@sarahtoustra7127 I guess you could just change the rims/tires then. Also, low pressure does not mean slower. It's about rolling resistance and loss of momentum due to vibrations that matter. I run 75psi on my 28 clinchers and keep up just fine in races.

      @@yarlon2014 Hi Yarlon, Simon here. I adapted the script for this video based off the original news story I wrote for www.bikeradar.com (www.bikeradar.com/news/2023-giant-propel/).
      This is a news video, and not a review, so we're simply presenting the claims and information provided by the manufacturer (hopefully in an informative and entertaining way). That doesn't mean we are endorsing those claims, however - they are presented here without judgement.
      Once we've had time to ride this bike properly we will publish a full review, where we'll go on the record about our opinions on the bike and any positives or negatives.
      Thanks for watching. Simon
