    Any vortec will bolt up to a Chevrolet trans they did not change the bolt pattern you will need a different flywheel or flex plate the bolt pattern on the rear of the crank shaft changed the TBI and vortec's have the same crankshaft bolt pattern pre TBI engines IE 1985 and earlier have a different crankshaft

    L31 Vortec is a great engine.

    • @Shane-Singleton
      @Shane-Singleton 3 года назад +2

      @ In stock form they won't win any drag races. I think around 255 horsepower and great torque. But the L31 cylinder head is a great upgrade to an older style small block chevy. (requires an intake manifold swap as well because the bolt pattern is different) The real downside to the L31 is that they only made it for a few years. 96 through I believe 99 before switching to the LS platform. So at this point they aren't "as" plentiful as say a 5.3LS. But they are still real easy to find because GM sold a lot of trucks and SUV's with the 5.7 L31 in them.

      6 years to late but what the hell 🤣🤣 maybe someone will find the info useful....If your wanting edelbrock go with the RPM Air gap, its pretty damn hard to beat for a street engine, being a stroker you could probably go with a taller single plane intake and still have plenty street manors but honestly those Rpm Air gaps are just perfect for a built street engine with some cubic inches. I'll never use anything different on any 350 or 383 I build there's just no point in doing so and if you got some decent flowing heads then all the better 😁

      there is a pipe plug in the engine by the distributor that can be removed and that is a great place to mount a temporary oil pressure gauge so you can run the engine out of the car like this guy did. Once the engine is installed in the car/truck you can use the same plug to mount your hose or sending unit (depending on which gauge you have/like) and run the gauge under dash in the vehicle.

      What all did you do to it to get 330hp out of it. On jeggs they said converting a 350 vortec to 670cfi with dual plane intake and hei distributor only gets you 290hp? I'm curious as I'm thinking of doing this to my 97 vortec and putting in a Iroc z
