I have the same 500 cfm Edelbrock AVS2 carburetor with manual choke. I don't even use the choke, those annular boosters lay down a fine spray of fuel. Fastest starting carbureted engine I ever had. My gas mileage and power increased. And my quadrajet was fine tuned well on my 79 camaro. Car is more enjoyable. Great product

Typically stock Chevy 350s like only a 650 CFM carburetor
I have an Edelbrock 750 CFM 1411 on my 350 (not bored over) it has a lopey 520 lift cam (kinda on radical side) aftermarket cast iron vortec heads that have been ported/polished and a dual plane intake.
With my engine combo. The spark plugs look great I have daily drived the vehicle for a few months whenever I pull the spark plugs they look clean with a light amount of soot around the ring at the end of threads. I have also ran the vehicle Full Throttle and pulled the spark plugs and they look the same as before.
When I stop on the gas the engine does not bog and it idles fine.
If your engine can idle and doesn't bog when you stomp on the gas and the spark plugs look fine in various scenarios I would say your carburetor is not too big.

    • @zmurray9499

I just used A barbed fitting in the carburetor, cut the fitting off of the line coming up from the fuel pump. 2 feet of 3/8 or 5/16 rubber line, In-line plastic filter, barbed carburetor inlet fitting, four hose clamps. You might have to get a banjo fitting for the carburetor. For clearance of your air cleaner base.
