  • Yesterday afternoon I got to practice my ‪@EdelbrockTV‬ Edelbrock Performance tuning skills on a really nice 1968 Chevy Malibu at ‪@SkywayClassics‬
Mr. Karl has been a friend for a while and has let us come and practice. So I made a video of this one from yesterday.
If you’re in the market for a really nice classic definitely look them up they have hundreds of all kinds.

Nice going Riley! That looked like a fun Chevelle - Alan and his staff out at Skyway Classics are terrific! It was so good to see you out at the Benedict Castle Concours - hope to see you in SRQ this summer, before SEMA!

Nice job Riley. You are able to see where your attention on the rebuilds ends up in actual use, You applied your new knowledge well and back it up with your skills. Road testing before is so important so you know what effect the changes you do have on the drivability. Tuning with a vacuum gauge is a good skill to know. Awesome stuff.

People are very interested in tuning carbs nowadays we have the internet you tube etc. Used to you had to figure it out all by yourself knowledgeable friends books etc. But other than people that oversee these things don't want cursing dirty words threats etc. Which is good everybody should respect each other. But just like anything else you need some basic knowledge to start with too many trolls out there !

Thanks for the tips! I just purchased this exact carb last year. It was real hard to see any change in the vacuum gauge when turning the screws. I love the tip on the springs, Going to check those as soon as summer gets here in Canada

that is called Cruise condition. could be lean r rich. here is a link to the tuning guide and you will need to buy the right calibration kit. If you read the 4 numbers on the left front of the carb, I can tell you which kit to buy. www.edelbrock.com/pub/media/wysiwyg/documents/carb-owners-manual.pdf

One big problem. Unless that is an EPA car, the vacuum advance line goes on the outlet he had it on, according to Edelbrock. That one thing makes me a little concerned about your work. (And yes, I KNOW this is an item that is argued about all over the internet. But Edelbrock says manifold vacuum for timing advance. You just built in some bog.)
