The british officer is Alisdair Mitchell (15 platoon Left Flank), Im a bit upset that he said the stretcher bearers took a while to get with him. The stretcher bearers we're volunteers after the fire fight. Im 99% sure they we're all left flankers, and a couple of them actually got to Left Flanks objective at exactly the same time as he did, including myself.

Maybe it felt a lot longer, in bad situations when people are desperate for help, it may only be a very short time before help comes but for those in desperate circumstances it feels agonisingly long, but I don’t know, I wasn’t there x

It should be remembered that Argentinian positions continued to shell stretcher bearers and Casevacs after this battle and others; in contrast to the British, who honourably held fire whilst Argentinian casualties were evacuated, and indeed attended to them in great number also.

Between them RF, G and LF companies suffered about 16% casualties of the approximate 319 Guardsmen involved in the assault that is 1 out of every 6 soldiers was either killed or wounded. The Argentinians put up a strong fight and it took the superior discipline and morale of the 2/Scots Gds to win the day.

For those asking this is The Falklands War The Untold Story, 1987. Another excellent docu from the British standpoint is Sea of Fire about HMS Coventry. Neither of these documentaries take the low road nor do they gloat over the sad destruction of human life.

It was the Guardsmen of the Crown
Who scaled the Heights of Tumbledown
And fought that night a bloody fight
To see victory by dawn's first light.
From crag to crag amongst the rock,
They skirmished on, numbed by shock.
Through shell and mortar fire they moved,
Till at last the ground they'd proved
Port Stanley lay there ...just ahead,
As they began to count their dead.
But where the glory, where the pride,
Of those eight brave men who died?
They who made that lonely sacrifice
And through each death paid the total price
In their final and heroic act,
Did surely speed the warring parties pact.
Each one who there his life laid down,
Saved countless others from their own unknown.
So those of you who live to talk,
Let your pride hover as does the hawk.
And never let men these acts forget,
Nor the memory of our dead neglect,
But once returned across this vast sea,
Remember then just what it was to be....
    A Scots Guardsman.
Lt Mark Mathewson, Right Flank 2nd Battalion Scots Guards
Ajax Bay, Falklands Islands, 20th June 1982
