That place is a shrine to the greatness and bravery of the British military. If anyone, anyone ever gives that over to the invaders they should be imprisoned for life for Treason
The Falklands have never belonged to Argentina. Therefore, Argentina should not own something it has no right to own and has never owned. The UK is the lawful Original Sovereign of the Falklands, and claimed them first, in 1594, 222 years before Argentina existed. In 1825 Argentina submitted a full description of all of its lands, islands, latitudes and longitudes claimed, to the UK, in order to be recognised in the Treaty of Friendship: this did not include the Falklands, and Argentina was accepted as such. In 1829 Argentina tried to clandestinely seize the Falklands and ignored a British Formal Diplomatic Protest, and a second in 1832 when they tried to install a governor. In 1833 a British warship asked a trespassing Argentine warship to leave the area which it duly did. The British flag was hoisted and British Sovereignty resumed. Argentina protested intermittently until 1849 when it gave up its claim in the Convention of Settlement, after which, Argentina issued not one Formal Diplomatic Protest for 97 years until 1946, nor were the Falklands mentioned once in the Argentine Congress from ratification of the Convention in 1850 until 91 years later in 1941. Since then, using a settled dispute as a pretext for a fictitious new one, aimed at uniting the people behind a common cause, Argentina has harassed and bullied the Falkland Islanders, denied their human rights, campaigned against their existence, attacked, invaded and annexed their country, covered the place in land mines and dead bodies, and in the present day, bullies their stallholders at trade shows and even their girls badminton team. No country on earth actually has less right to the Falklands than Argentina after its shambolic abuses, and in 2013 the Falkland Islanders, the only people who can determine the sovereignty and political future of the Falkland Islands, voted by 99.8% for UK Sovereignty. The matter is settled.

Just a question, if sheep continually grow wool, what if you loose one? Also did they evolve from goats or something so it produced wool. I'm confused as to how they came became sort of domesticated and needing humans to sheer them in order for them to live normal lives? Sorry to sound so American.
Domestic sheep are descended from wild sheep. Wild sheep naturally shed their winter coats, but humans selectively bred the ones that produced more (and shed less) wool, while culling the ones that didn't. So sheep that produced lots of wool and didn't shed passed on those genetics, creating distinct breeds of domestic sheep. Sheep began to be domesticated a very long time ago (around 10,000BC) so their exact line of descent/ancestors are unclear. So domestic sheep today do not shed their coats, and produce more wool than they need, and need to be regularly shorn. If they are not shorn, they can suffer from health problems like infections, restricted movement, and overheating, which could potentially lead to death. This is quite rare though, especially on small islands like the Falklands! hope this helped a bit :)
I was born a few months after the Falklands war. I had an opportunity to go there to work for an oil exploration company in 2015 but the oil price collapse ruined it.
Modern-day Argentina consists of land stolen by colonists from the Indigenous people of South America but they lay claim to the Falklands as a birthright. It's a weird sense of entitlement but it's not difficult to see when the imported population of the Falklands wants no part of the imported colonial legacy that is Argentina.
Yes. The FIG bought the large farms, divided them up and sold them on favourable terms to the locals. The process had already started before the war, and accelerated afterwards. Rex Hunt talks about it quite a bit in his book "My Falkland Days".
so..............why were the argies not mabe to clear up the mine fields? they layed them, should have given them a bloody shovel and told................not repatriation until this stuff is cleared!.

If Argentina had been truly humiliated, as Germany had been during the 2nd World War, Argentinians today would have a more reasonable and mature attitude, in the same way that today’s Germans don’t keep banging on about their lost territories nor displaying German flags when they go to Poland. The prevailing stance before and during the war was that Argentina shouldn’t be humiliated (eg Dennis Thatcher advised his wife Margaret Thatcher to follow this stance), so it would be easier to work with them after the war. It didn’t work out like that, unfortunately.
The Argentinians should have been so lucky. A British takeover of their country would have meant a better administration, a higher standard of living, better social services, etc, etc. it would have likely propelled them into a second world country, just like the Empire did some really good things for particular colonies.

It seems that the people will stay in poverty, since Falkland Islands Company owned 70% of the land using the population as a low paid workers, and the company is not paying for any upgrades .
The Falklands is a lot more prosperous now than it was then. There's been a lot of land reform, and new revenue coming in from tourism and fishing rights. Plus more money likely to be coming in from oil drilling.
Even though the current islanders consider themselves British, if Argentina had never foolishly invaded, they might have gotten the islands back by now. Yet they DID invade, and they'll be paying for that stunt for a long, long, time. The British will easily be in the Falklands for another two hundred years!
Order from CBFFI, stop calling the Falkland islanders “Bennys” (after Benny the handyman in Crossroads, a tv drama from the era, he always wore a bobble hat and spoke with a slow cadence), so we stopped calling them “Bennys” and called the “stills”, translated = “Still Bennys”, it wasn’t really derogatory but obviously somebody somewhere down the line took offence, but it really didn’t stop us. It might sound strange but the 4 months I spent there were very enjoyable, it was after MPA opened so the living conditions were totally different from the days of the Coastells, a huge bonus for everyone detached down there. The best thing about the tour was the islands themselves, rugged, and in my opinion a step back in time, I would say untouched by human hands, but for obvious reasons it was tainted by us humans, what a waste. The Argentinians don’t want the Falklands for any other reason other than the oil and mineral reserves and a gateway to the Antarctic, but they will never get them.
That's the newspapers calling it a war. War was never declared by either side. So it was a conflict. Then again "War" in the headlines sold newspapers, There was no internet or easily avaliable information. So the newspapers were it.

I always thought the Falkland War was a godsend for Margaret Thatcher. Military and police morale was low due to the Irish insurgency in Northern Ireland. Thatcher was plagued by scandals. The royal family weren't doing much better. Lord Mountbatten was assassinated by the IRA. UK massacred Irish civilians in the street. It was a low point for the army. Falkland War was a nice diversion for the UK to flex its might once more on the world stage. UK got their quick victory. Thatcher regained her popularity. Now time to deal with those bloody IRA again. Of course Reagan realized Thatcher was onto something. USA needed a quick war to boost their nationalism. USA needed to invade a small island nation, something the Americans easily defeat. Hence the invasion of Grenada in 1983. Of course Reagan got cocky when he put American troops in Lebanon. That did not end well for him but it didn't hurt his popularity.
I don't buy this cynical idea that it was just about bolstering the Thatcher government. Our territory and citizens were attacked by a hostile foreign power and we had an obligation to protect them. Britain had to construct an 8000 mile military logistics chain, only had 48 hours to prepare and had to press civilian ships into service. We had also come out of a long period of economic hardship in the 1970s. The liberation of the Falklands was a remarkable military achievement. I'm as cynical as anyone about the machinations of the British state (or state power in general), but this is one example where they did the right thing.

Modern-day Argentina consists of land stolen by colonists from the Indigenous people of South America but they lay claim to the Falklands as a birthright. Yes. The FIG bought the large farms, divided them up and sold them on favourable terms to the locals. The process had already started before the war, and accelerated afterwards. Rex Hunt talks about it quite a bit in his book "My Falkland Days".

Perhaps Britain should have invaded Argentina and established a South American Gibralter? Why didn't they, teach them a bloody good lesson.

Agreed. No doubt those leaders got good publicity from those things.
