Maybe just STFU about who is right or wrong and readback the correct runway to cross. Delta Maintenance couldn’t copy simple instructions. Korean Air kept calling before flight plan was filed. This controller does a great job. Must be annoying to deal with unprofessional pilots.
Personally disagree. I think he was a little bit condescending, when all he had to do was correct the readback. The whole "argument" was a waste of time, especially given he was the only controller at the time. On the other hand, it's obviously a stressful situation, and he was just faithfully representing the New Yorker culture 😅
I agree, hokiepilot. You do not engage in unnecessary discussion on frequency, especially at busy airports. AeroMexico had no right, and could've easily requested a number from Tower instead of engaging in a misguided attempt to reprimand a person trying to make sure they survive and depart safely. Ego and arrogance was AeroMexico's MO that night. Tower, already under pressure with an incompetent ground crew and impatient pilots, responded appropriately. It's easy to act like you wouldn't do the same as Tower under similar circumstances. Tower controls the airport. Not the pilots. It's in the damn name - Air Traffic Control.
It was so sweet how he noticed "I done fucked up" when he asked the Ukrainian pilot if she spoke russian. I assume that she does indeed speak russian, but that she understandably refuses to speak the language currently and maybe ever. He was in luck that he spoke both languages.
It gives me goosebumps when hearing this, especially in comparison with the other recording with the same ATC controller published just few days before. Missed the previous exchange with Aeromexico, but this was very encouraging. JFK is tough, and hopefully this guy will stick around. He is very clear, speaks at a good pace and as multilingual speaker, patient with the pilots that speak English as a second language. I'm impressed....
Compared to most of my experiences with NY controllers that was almost alien. What a joy to listen too. That guy needs to be running the system. Slow is smooth and smooth is fast. Not a single revision after read back. Thats how it should be done.
A real contrast to many American ATC personnel , this guy speaks in a clear , measured way that is more efficient than a quickfire burst as he doesn’t need to repeat but gets the message across first time.
@@VASAviation Could you please also do a video on the similar call sign between Delta and Southwest at Chicago Midway? Both aircraft read back the same takeoff clearance meant for only one aircraft, they were on intersecting runways and almost had a collison and had to cancel takeoff.

I don't know the policies for naming nav aids. But it's not unheard of. There used to be a nav aid east of Phoenix Sky Harbor (KPHX) that was named SPARKY. It was a point north of ASU's Sun Devil Stadium. I can't find it on maps now and don't know what happened to it. Could be a victim of Tempe's war with Sky Harbor over flight paths, a victim of ASU's relentless growth, or a victim of Tempe developing the area around the part of the Salt River known as "Tempe Town Lake". However, I doubt EBAAY was named for EBAY and probably just a handy set of letters. Could also be a point either east of the bay or an eastern bay.
This guy works a lot of late shifts. I do a lot of late night flying out of JFK and when he’s very short with confused foreign carriers when he’s working ground. I made sure to compliment him for running a tight ship one night and got a chuckle back from him! Was hoping I’d hear myself in this video but I guess I missed him by a day or two.

@@overhead18”about this”. That’s how the swiss cheese model works. It’s not “about this” but contingencies where “this” can go wrong. Aviation safety isn’t about well it’s working now but about what can go wrong.
@@zeitgeistx5239 That is an interesting way to avoid answering a pretty direct question.
Nice followup.

"my mom is from Siberia" more precise
I like this guy, one of the few ATC who speaks at a normal speed, which promotes such clear and concise information.
He hadn’t had his coffee yesterday lol. But seriously, this man needs to be employee of the year and promoted to tower manager with a HUGE raise.
It doesn’t work that way. Controllers that do sucks at controlling aircraft are the one that gets promoted to manager so they can’t control anymore.
Awesome clip, thank you for uploading this. ❤
This dude is a machine
Also very cool he speaks multi languages!
Missed the previous exchange with Aeromexico, but this was very encouraging. JFK is tough, and hopefully this guy will stick around. He is very clear, speaks at a good pace and as multilingual speaker, patient with the pilots that speak English as a second language. I'm impressed....
Go watch it now
New JFK legend? 🙏🏼
This guy is a professional. He's a New Yorker. Some can't handle the attitude, but I love it. Clear and concise. Love it.
Hahahaha this is VAS aviation on campaign supporting his friend Mr grumpy ATC 😅
Just met him yesterday. Not a friend haha
Everyone is getting along. It’s a beautiful thing 😂
That COPA readback was amazing
Compared to most of my experiences with NY controllers that was almost alien. What a joy to listen too. That guy needs to be running the system. Slow is smooth and smooth is fast. Not a single revision after read back. Thats how it should be done.
A real contrast to many American ATC personnel , this guy speaks in a clear , measured way that is more efficient than a quickfire burst as he doesn’t need to repeat but gets the message across first time.
Wow 😮 I hear this controller regularly, impressive. I though he was going to give her a number to call! ❤
victor would you be able to upload about the emergency landing aer lingus had at JFK on sunday august 25th. it was Flight EI106 aircraft was EI-EAV
Working on it
@@VASAviation Could you please also do a video on the similar call sign between Delta and Southwest at Chicago Midway? Both aircraft read back the same takeoff clearance meant for only one aircraft, they were on intersecting runways and almost had a collison and had to cancel takeoff.
@@vineetbhagwat4256 I posted that video YEARS ago, just when it happened. Search for it on my channel.
@@VASAviation my apologies! I saw it on another channel and thought it just happened :) :)
I love how he is the one who actually relaxed.
Дуже дякую.
Слава Україні.
This controller about to hit some internet fame
Wow, a lot of the same aircraft from the previous day. Also, amazing how much better everything is when people get their readbacks right the first time. And, would you look at that! ANA told him they weren't going to be ready to go prior to getting to the runway threshold and everything worked out just fine! Almost like they were doing what they're supposed to do and not screwing with the controller and then sassing him for it. Looking at you AMX401.
I’m just a student pilot, and I was able to understand everything this controller said. Calm, clear, and comedically inclined. If I were to fly into JFK or a busy airport like it, I would hope to work with someone like him.
Man, what a stressful job. Respect
absolutely loved her flat-out "No." She speaks Ukranian!

Are you that ignorant or purposefully trolling?
That's how I used to experience the entire New York region ATC - calm, professional, efficient and accommodating. I can appreciate the extra challenge this gentleman faces (besides the offbeat hours when our circadian rhythms are a factor) as he works with pilots from many parts of the world whose English is seasoned with many different pronunciations. I have the highest respect for US controllers in all busy, international terminals. True pros.
That’s so awesome. !!! I was born in Kyiv and mom’s family from Siberia. That’s awesome. Be careful we can’t speak Russian anymore 🤣🤣😅😂😂
More of this stuff please! ;)
Idk who you are moody NY’er but do know you are appreciated by those of us in the aviation life that know how difficult your job is.
This ATC is a rock star. It's amazing how he can handle that workload.
That was my first thought. Imagine that work load. He did his job admirably, even he was a little grumpy.
@@sarahalbers5555 Who wouldn't be a bit grumpy in that situation you don't have time to babysit people if they don't get it right you got to call them out on it
Nice job tower!👍🏼👍🏼
This controller is excellent, but how is he alone at JFK basically running 3 frequencies? That man needs a lot more than a raise. Great to hear how different this video is compared to the first. What a difference a day makes 😂✈️🗽
He is a very talentd controller too. This why this is such a fun job.
That's how it should be. Cordial but professional.
This controller is great. He's super methodical and always makes sure readbacks are correct.
@@genegade:
But he resumed speaking Russian after she told him that she doesn’t speak Russian.
He was never moody. This poor controller is working hard and never had an attitude. Professionally speaking I would have also waited 4 minutes for clearance to make sure I wasn’t moody on frequency.
I was so upset in the comments of the last video where everyone was calling him moody.
Great respect for this guy.
Slava Ukraine 🇺🇦 And air transport 3515 Heavy too )
DIRECT PRMUS DIRECT EBAYY - dhang, when it would be DIRECT AMAZN DIRECT PRMUS, it would sound like some hidden advert... :D
ATC have my utmost respect
I just can’t stop hearing Paulie Pennino’s voice from Rocky when he talks 😂
That’s awesome! Слава Україні, молодець пілот 👩✈️🇺🇦
Dad from Ukraine, mum from Russia .. must make some interesting conversations around the dinner table the past few years!
It's easy to be on the same page across three of them. Like it is in many even Russian families, and it is NOT taking the Russian side.
Love this guy 🍻
Great workmanship by the controller......
Really great job knowing who needs a little help hearing the instructions
Best regards to Ukrainian pilot!
I bet that down the line, you actually save time by being as clear and professioal like that man. How many times have we seen misunderstanding and numerous repeat because of controler trying to go faster than the pilots.
Live this guy!
This is one of those days where everything works out for both the controllers as well as the pilots so everyone is in a good mood!
for a start i like that he slows down from the usual JFK speed for the japanese pilot.
Do you speak Russian, NO. When I hear the Greki it reminds me of the Aer Lingus that stood its ground and wouldn’t turn into weather.
we need to keep an eye on this dood! 🧐
Wow, Ukrainian ATC. Hopefully ill speak with him sometime.
Good evening ladies and gents from the flight deck
JFK is way too busy and stresses controllers out to the point they are talking 1000 words per minute, dealing with international pilots with poor english.
It's a recipe for disaster. Surprised more problems don't occur at JFK.
They absolutely need more man power. Why is this overlooked at almost every major airport in this country?
Now i know what his accent reminds me of. There's a RUclips channel of a New York plumber of the same extraction. Same cadence, same accent
Hey, hats off to him. I didn't think he was rude on yesterday's video. But we're all one mistake away from going viral.
Copa 807 readback EBAAY, but tower said EBAYY, almost perfect 😜😂😂
Talented guy
To all Controllers
Don't do anything dramatic or else VAS will have you on utube
Nobody can hide from VASAviation
Much better radio discipline here (except at 4:03 in, what was that from both the Aeromexico and ANA?! Not surprising) That ATC controller may not appear to be Kennedy Steve, but he's truly a legend and despite everybody's impatience the previous night, he handled that particular shift (and this one) spectacularly!
Kennedy Steve is the top GOAT of ATC, mixing professionalism with a good dose of humor at times, but also very strict and educating when needed.
@@jumpingpiggie422 Completely agree. I hope more ATC controllers follow his style, and then / only then will the world be a bit more bearable.
Stressing out for COPA807 readback... that was a novel.
