hey friends! Today, we're talking about what to do when you feel disconnected from God or when you are feeling distant from God. This is something I am NO STRANGER to and I'm excited to share my experience with you on how to navigate a season when God seems distant and how to draw near to God during these times where you're looking around like - UM, where'd You go?! Hi! My name is Melody Alisa - welcome to my channel. I lived in South Korea for two years where I met God and I documented my life as an English teacher (check out my Life in Korea playlist for more on this!) Now, I call Atlanta home. On my RUclips channel, I share my Christian faith and life as a creative, a newlywed, a soon-to-be first time mama through weekly new videos!
HEY! About a week or two ago, I was angry at God and just being hard-hearted, so I decided to use my prayer time to actually vent at God and be open and transparent with Him (He knows my heart anyway), and I will say since then, I am slowly seeing shifts in a positive direction. I guess God's lesson to me was to not hold things, but to release them. Give Him my ashes so He can make them into a crown of glory.
I was angry at God too.
That’s interesting because usually whenever I have something I’m angry about or annoyed about or worried about I keep them in my chest and don’t say them to God. Or I’ll tell others but not God. Because I don’t want to show a lack of faith

YES I DO THIS TOO!! Honestly, its so refreshing, and ofc God wants to hear your problems (1 Peter 5 v 7) so its a great way to reconnect and be honest with your Heavenly Father 😊💕

Lately, I found myself in a strange place and I remember asking myself "How far are you from God right now?" It was then I realized that the only reason I was in that place, was because I wasn't near to God. So I asked him "What do you need from me Lord?". It was revealed to me that I honestly need to fast, trust him more, worship and keep on praying. It's not that God isn't with me, it's just that he's calling me to come deeper.
Chuckling at how most of us in the comments had similar prayers and God answered through this video. God is so good❤️
I think who you spend your time with and energy on is soooo important to how closely you feel the Lord’s presence!

Definitely perfect timing. Repenting truly does help because it gets rid of the guilt and makes me feel redeemed by God and not so ashamed to come into His presence. Then staying in His Word and prayer is KEY!!

my relationship with God has been so rocky these past days… I tend to distant myself from God whenever I’m going through a tough time and rn in my life, I’m so depressed and miserable… my struggles have started to eaten me whole and I’m struggling to also pick myself back up towards Christ. I’ve stopped reading the Bible/personal time with him, praying to God at night, and I’ve also started struggling going to church. I just feel like I’m disappointing and hurting him so much by my actions, I feel so ashamed of myself, I’m so sorry to God but I’m struggling so much to even get out of bed these days, I dread waking up every morning. I would regret it so much if today was my last day on earth and I wasted it worrying about my wordly struggles instead of submitting myself to God and continuing to tell him my worries and what also seems like me “giving up.” I shouldn’t do that, I should continue finding God and trusting him no matter how miserable and hard things are becoming and nobody knows. idk what has happened with me but I feel so “dirty” with myself that I’ve become so distant from God. I did pray to him about my worries, struggles, etc, but I still found myself still being stuck in the same tiring cycle. I want to get out of this. Please pray for me.

My spirit craves for the words of the holy.
I feel the exact same way. My depression and anxiety has gotten so bad over the years to the point where im numb and don't find joy in anything anymore, and it has caused me to become disconnected from god. I guess because I don't see him helping me nomatter how much I pray for him to heal me. But I want to trust him even through these hard times, I never want to lose sight of him. Don't want to let my circumstances change my relationship with him

When you are in a dry season you need to focus and turn your attention to God. Meditate on his word day and night.
I actually felt distant from God and i started a Daniel's fast! Your own videos on this fast were a confirmation of sorts towards this posture and stance i took.

Maybe that’s how you got back in your parent good graces after you felt you messed up as a kid
This is good, like all of it... I'm fasting right now and this helped me to pinpoint where the disconnect is. It's very true that when the Lord shows us an area of sin, it's important that we not become heavy with guilt and discouragement and draw back, as if we have to do it all alone. I'm comforted by the reminder that He helps us. Thank you so much for this! Shalom to you and your family 💞

I feel like you hit really good points. As a new Christian I’m going through that season now. The best thing to do in my opinion is take action build on our relationship with God. By writing letters to him, going for walk with him, reading his word or thinking about the things his done for me.

In my case, it rather felt as if God was distant from me. And it happened this year. I had just experienced an unexpected but extremely painful loss and I just couldn't feel Him, not the way I had in the past. And I remember crying out to Him, reminding Him of what He said. That His name is Immanuel but where was He. And He spoke to me: I am here with you my child every second of everyday. I have never left you. I am here. Then the Spirit led me to a song called CHETA by Ada and that was the cherry on top. All in all, I am now confident that this moment led me to knowing in my heart that God is faithful and forever with me no matter what my feelings say. No matter what my circumstances say. He is with me.
I was just searching on RUclips "What to do when you drift away from God" and found this video. Thank you so much for making this video! I'm a guy, but I still really resonated with a lot of the truths you pointed out.
One thing I was reflecting on is that it's easy to hide from other Christians that we're going through a tough time. I realised that's just my pride talking. It can be so encouraging to our brothers and sisters in Christ to confess that we're not perfect and that we do struggle. It helps them know that they're not alone in feeling distant from God at times as well, but also to know that there's always a grace-filled path back to our loving father in heaven.

I honestly don’t know what gift you have but let me tell you, when I feel that dark crisis like feeling that life brings when we feel far from God and when we’re in waiting seasons, when things don’t LOOK great in front of us in life, your channel And something about your spirit is so soothing. It feels like a safe place, but more to do with your spirit than anything. I think it’s the fact that you are not just happy and chipper but you have actually been through the fire, you are weathered, and you are stronger bc of it. The warrior in your spirit gives my spirit a message that it is possible. I feel the comforting love of God and his Grace when I watch your videos. It’s truly miraculous. Thanks Melody ❤. Whenever I feel distant from God, I usually have to do "spiritual stock taking" and just allow the Holy Spirit to search me and give me instructions. A lot of time it's because I get busy and don't find that quiet time with Daddy Jesus and Holy Spirit.
Thank you for sharing this! I really listen to worship music and spend alone time just thanking GOD. I usually feel guilty when I don't spend enoug time with GOD. Music, worship, prayer and nature makes me feel closer to GOD.

I woke up this morning (and went to bed last night) angry at God for once again not healing me of this sickness, along with other things I wish He'd do in my life right now. I messaged my family and was encouraged by them. Then I found this video and once again feel encouraged. Thank you. God bless you
The way how I journalled about not knowing what to do rn that Im feeling like this. And then to see this video😭perfectt timing. God always answers our questions
Its important to remember that thoughts are in fact, not feelings. Feelings are real emotions that we feel that we attach false thoughts to and our thoughts are not facts.
So good ! I got distance from God end of last year and in the beginning of this year but I got back on track ! Now has been so amazing ! And will keep it that way ! Being with this community and church, connect groups ! ❤
These 5 tips are great 💕 being mindful of the media we consume is a big one.
the part where you talk about checking our feelings with facts was really helpful to me today. I have a journal so I literally looked through all the places where I talked about how I was feeling in this moment and replaced those feelings one by one with scripture that discounts them. Thank you for being obedient as God led you to make this ❤

The Lord is with you and will be your strength in weakness. Keep praying on it and being desperate about the situation. Even when you end up doing it, Go back to God and tell him again, my flesh is weak, be my strength. I am believing and agreeing with you in prayer for deliverance and healing in Jesus name. Amen.
block them and shed all the tears you can. start praying and share your thoughts with someone you trust. time and God will heal all, trust me ❤️❤️
and try telling yourself “okay i’m not going to text this person for 24 hours and so on” and the more you reach the extended time, you’ll find the strength to keep going because then you have a commitment with yourself

I have been living an unholy life lately, and it’s scaring me because the fear I used to have when committing sins has started to disappear and I feel horrible. The joy and the peace of God has disappeared in my heart and I really need God so much
Wow I found your video at the perfect time. Sometimes all you need is a fellow Christian letting you know you are not alone. Especially when you feel like you are backsliding. It’s videos like this that help me to cling even more tightly to God. God bless you and your family 😊❤️
You inspired me to be able to acknowledge Jesus publicly,I got born again recently and lost all my friends🥲,but it's worth it because Jesus is all I need,he will bring new friends who help me grow through the word of God.I started my youtube channel to share my life experiences before and after salvation 🙂 thanks for inspiring me
1)Shifting my focus to Jesus Christ instead of sin.
2)not worrying about the consequences
3)Being intentional about spending time with Jesus even if am not feeling Him ,choosing to walk by faith and not sight(feelings )
4)realizing l have no back up plan as Jesus is my whole A-Z plan .so if l mess up l have nowhere to go just run to Him .

I've been feeling distant for a few months now but in most recent weeks, this little voice has been telling me to go back. This little push has been growing and this video that I watched to completion, yay, is guidance on what to do and I really like the idea of preaching the Gospel to one self. Thank you, going to try it today! Listening to uplifting gospel praise music is a great way to spend time with God.
Have been reading Psalms 10 and it goes in hand with this video,,, we sink in too much in our ways and prosperity that we forget God.
I’m four weeks late on this one but his timing is always right because I wouldn’t of been ready to receive it. Everything was speaking to me, thank you for sharing 😊
Sin is crippling makes us distance ourselves from God because we feel condemned and think He will say "Again", not knowing that our Lord forgives as soon as we repent and we can feel closer by actually inviting Him in our lives.

This video is exactly what I needed. I did something earlier today and I felt so awful after doing it. I kept asking god for forgiveness but I could just feel I was already getting distant from him.
Then I heard god said to me study my word tonight and that’s what I’ve been doing all night alittle bit before I stumbled upon this video. This just shows me that he’s surrounding me and he’s talking to me. Because I did literally everything you mentioned in this vid prior to watching.

Ive been in this season for months now with back and forth's of struggling with my relationship with God. The one thing I held on to was the fact that God is always nearing every single day that I live, He had already written it down. I believe that there is a reason I had to go through this and things are looking brighter. I will wait patiently. Thank you for this, you're so calm and peaceful in your teaching. May the Lord fill you with more wisdom.

I do not if anyone will read this but for almost a year I've been struggling to reach God the way I did when I first started to seek him a lot of stuff happened and it was my fault I take full blame for it but I haven't heard his voice, nor felt his presence or even heard instructions from him in so long I feel lost and abandoned by him I feel like I've tried to reconnect to him again I've read my Bible maybe not every day but I do read it I tried fasting but we all know that the fast means nothing if it wasn't sincere or if you didn't take God with you. I spend my days trying to understand what I did wrong how to fix it how do I get HIM BACK but nothing. Idk what to do at this point
