I do Uber about 25 hours a week (my side hustle) and use FSD 12.5.x all the time. I'd say about 85% of my driving in on FSD. Most of my riders don't even know it's turn on. About halfway through the drive I let them know. They always say, "really, I didn't know. It is so smooth". it is good, but there are still some issues to sort out. In particular, speed control, avoiding potholes, reading signs, winter driving, avoiding small obstacles, etc. You're discussions with the riders are the same as I have all the time. @@JJFX-when I first started Uber, about 3 years ago, approx. $1000/week. Now there are lots of Uber drivers in my city and its about $650/week now. Still pays for my Tesla 💪
Back in April of '24, I was able to use FSD during that free trial. While driving on the California hwys I felt the lane change decision to take an exit was too "last minute". I would have seen an opportunity to get over but the FSD at that time waited too long and sometimes couldn't make the exit due to congestion. It was still amazing. After I had an accidental fall and was in so much pain, I heavily depended on the model Y to get me back to my condo. My wife and I were so appreciative to have FSD at that time.
Same, most of my interventions during free month trial were less "wrong/danger", and more "poor choice"... it didn't do what *I* thought was the right thing, or at the correct time.. maybe if I had been more patient, or worry less about last-minute changes, it could be better, but.. I wasn't. Then again, it was BETTER than me at a couple VERY confusing offramp/interchanges (I always picked the wrong exit of the 4 choices), I assume it would have been correct since had the map :) The latter is I think the strongest take for FSD, even if full robotaxi doesn't go: for folks who need driving assistance... I've used autopilot eg after getting blood test & don't want to flex my arm much, or after an injury, or am very tired etc... the car can then drive almost safer than me, or at least w/ less physical and mental effort and strain. That's a huge possible value..
As someone who has been doing uber in tesla since 2019. I'm excited for robotaxi. Uber is taking too much from passengers and drivers and im ready to fully switch over to tesla rideshare services. I doubt tesla will be taking 60-70% from tesla owners like uber does. They don't need to. Uber too greedy and not regulated.
I bought my first Tesla on 6/30/18, with HW 2.5. A couple of years later I got the free upgrade to HW 3.0. I finally upgraded to the M3 Performance on 7/17, and they graciously allowed me to transfer FSD at no cost. I can tell you, the difference between Enhanced Auto-Pilot to this latest iteration of FSD is amazing. I use it most of the time that I'm on the road, and I have very few interactions, if any. I can't wait to see what the next few updates will bring, and as always, looking forward to the Christmas update. Great video!

The issue I had wasn't the fsd trial, it was the mapping system. I live in las vegas, and the mapping system to go home keeps trying to take me on the freeway (which I don't want to do), the mapping/navigation system wouldn't recognize a main street (not new or anything) that I take home. Even when I was driving ON the actual main street the map would try to put me on a different street. Only when I was halfway home, the system would recognize the rest of the way and then at that point I could turn on the fsd. The mapping/gps needs a major update to work together with fsd.
I only use uber/lyft and with all the "cost cutting" from uber I notice I get sometimes very bad drivers. At this point I am more scared of uber/lyft drivers then FSD

There’s no doubt that FSD is impressive, but to be Robo taxi worthy it has to be PERFECT, and it just isn’t yet. If it is not super supervised there will 100% be some accidents.
@@klikar1982 I agree, but tell the insurance companies that. There is a huge difference between an accident with a driver and one that involves a driverless vehicle. Tesla's Self Driving should have the ability to comprehend for unexpected circumstances the car may get in and recalculate a new route to get back on track. For example, it should have turn anyway because it's accidentally in a turning lane, even though it really wants to go straight.
What's the point of the driver even being there. The only sad part is that these drivers will lose their jobs. Otherwise, everything else is fine. We will pay less and feel more comfortable, and it's probably better that way, ain't no way I'm paying someone for free when the car is fully automated. Not to consider the expensive rides. There is no skill required to be an uber anyone can do it, so I think it will teach the drivers to consider looking for a profession that requires actual work and skill. By the way its also the next step to the future.
I used the trial FSD and it was awesome! I just don't drive enough to use it as i am retired. If I was still working i would for sure buy it, big time saver and less stress!
It’s good but the main issues still remain: cameras glass becoming dirty so quickly and often it will degrade the system so much that it is dangerous. Turning around in narrow lanes/roads. Ability to think ahead to change lanes to exit in multiple lanes of heavy traffic. Construction zones and equipment in those zones. Ice/snow/rain splashed over/on vehicle, especially at highway speeds - especially while following trucks. Motorcycles splitting lanes. Fog. Low concrete dividers. Pot holes and debris that the car doesn’t avoid that will damage the vehicle. Hydroplaning. Basically, every crash will put those vehicles in a shop, making those vehicles unavailable to owners, costing much more time and money than what the car can make. Really, just way too many things to still work out. Don’t get me wrong, I love 12.5 on our 2022 Y and the system (I purchased it and use it frequently), but it won’t be ready for prime time for a long time, no matter what is “unveiled” to have the vehicles charge themselves, even with an Optimus “driver” onboard. ✌🏼☀️
What a great video, great experiment doing the Uber rides to show this and get feedback! Thank you! Question, does FSD need you to have you hand on the wheel all the time like normal autopilot? i've been thinking of buying it for a month for a long trip, but if I need to have the hand on it, then would it be worth it over the normal autopilot?
The biggest problem I saw when I tried FSD was that it didn't read the yellow speed advisory signs, so on a rural road that was pretty straight and 45mph, with a turn ahead recommended 20mph, it wouldn't slow down and would hit the brakes hard at the very last minute to make the turn. Very disconcerting. It also didn't read school hours speed limit reduction signs.
Very good. I wish your drive had been perfect, because that one moment where you had to take over for comfort when it didn't get in the correct lane quickly enough was probably all it took for FUD to creep into the minds of your passengers. Still, a very good demonstration and the whole situation was handled very nicely. I liked their questions and that you were ready with the answers.

Hey Andy. What's your thoughts on that yellow camouflaged Robotaxi actually being a 2017-18 Toyota C-HR? The camouflage is just too weird. The huge rear fairings. That little door handle on the pillar. The dip at the rear of the roof with rear wing and tail gate removed and a box/cage out in that space.
It seemed to go very well, only one intervention. I’m excited for the Robotaxi, I would need it to be 100% autonomous since I am unable to drive. Cannot wait for how much freedom that will provide if it’s not crazy expensive.

I owned 4 years model 3 2019 with FSD in Europe. After 4 years, I sold the car without even having the possibility to use the latest software used already many years in US.
Not needing to touch the steering wheel isn't really an advantage at all when you have the inner facing camera nagging you anyway. It's still not "Full Self Driving", and even less Robotaxi.
Its going to be nice up south but when it snows or bad weather cameras and sensor are not great. You will have to find other ways to get to your destination or is there something that i am missing?
I think the world will be SHOCKED once the first OFFICIAL FSD ROBO-TAXI ride is done : ) A MILESTONE for mankind. TV news-anchors will surely come with some negative ideas though...
V12.5.2.1 has improved a number of "comfort" issues such as hard braking and hard acceleration. But it still has some improvement needed on lane management. I think that case at time-stamp 9:52 showed how FSD favored being in an open lane over being in the right lane for the planned route. I've noticed on freeways that it will make more lane changes than I and maybe most drivers would do. There is a setting for that so I could turn it off but currently it is on whenever FSD is operating and it won't let you turn it off. I'm looking forward to the next few releases in which I hope the lane management planning is much more human-like.
Look, if an autonomous car is even possible, Tesla has the best shot at getting it to market first. The latest FSD software is very impressive. Tesla owners should relax.
"The one advantage" over other manufacturers? The main advantage that Tesla has is that they can make and sell EVs that customers want and at a price that they want to pay.
I’d buy a T mobile taxi after version 1 but since I like to drive I would probably rarely ride in it unless I can take control. I would use it for uber/lyft. As of now I don’t like fsd…autopilot is the best cruise control type system I’ve experienced but it’s not without flaws: So far under 2k miles experience with a 2020 3. All this is minus my bad experience with Tesla..Im hoping they make up for the experience. Hopefully I’ll edit this comment if they don’t do right…if they don’t I hopefully will never buy a Tesla again..in that case.
Isn't it more accurate to say it went from FSD (Beta) to FSD (Supervised)? Having said that, I thought FSD (Beta) was a terrible name, because it meant 'full, but not really' or 'full, but not yet'.
I like this content, but I felt some of your reactions or things that you were saying could make the riders nervous. it reminded me of a dentist or doctor examining you saying something like "that's interesting" or "I wonder what happens if I cut here" :) I've taken many people on rides using fsd over the past couple years and with 12.5 I'm finding a lot of responses saying if you didn't tell me you weren't driving, I would never have known.

It's always when RUclipsrs talk about privacy, when RUclips is literally when social media is the opposite of privacy. That little door handle on the pillar. The dip at the rear of the roof with rear wing and tail gate removed and a box/cage out in that space.
I like how she goes "they thought about the legality of it.." yea I would imagine so
It seemed to go very well, only one intervention. I’m excited for the Robotaxi, I would need it to be 100% autonomous since I am unable to drive. Cannot wait for how much freedom that will provide if it’s not crazy expensive.
As a rideshare driver… I panicked for a minute when I heard the income ride request notification on his phone, thinking I forgot to log off. 🤣
Good video Andy I appreciate you putting it out there. Not sure why I haven't received it I would love to have it 22 Y Pro... I thought everything was jammed up for hardware 3.. glad you got it.. You were one of the first people with a Tesla that I started watching the videos before I got one. Actually you may have been the first.. You put out some very informative videos!! Thx 🇺🇸✌️hope I get it🤞
Why do you mislead us with titles Andy….. no I didn’t watch, I scrubbed through the entire thing. There’s nothing to present but speculation 😔
Please don’t turn into another clickbait channel
I owned 4 years model 3 2019 with FSD in Europe. After 4 years, I sold the car without even having the possibility to use the latest software used already many years in US.
That must have been a cool experience for them :) Cool video Andy, you take care!
Not needing to touch the steering wheel isn't really an advantage at all when you have the inner facing camera nagging you anyway.
It's still not "Full Self Driving", and even less Robotaxi.
I still have not received the 12.5 update. Anyone else the same or know why?
This is a great video idea, that Uber update coming in handy, would love to see more.
Its going to be nice up south but when it snows or bad weather cameras and sensor are not great. You will have to find other ways to get to your destination or is there something that i am missing?
At 75 you should hope the full fsd arrives soon
Great video Andy!
"The one advantage" over other manufacturers? The main advantage that Tesla has is that they can make and sell EVs that customers want and at a price that they want to pay.
How does one tell what HW level is in one's car? I have a Jan 3020 M3 SR+ abd an Oct 2031 M3Dyal Motor AWD.
I'm glad I don't have a camera in my legacy 17 S with FSD on HW3.
not totally accurate and only like 60% superchargers are open and they have many advantages price? reliability? safety?
I’d buy a T mobile taxi after version 1 but since I like to drive I would probably rarely ride in it unless I can take control.
I would use it for uber/lyft.
As of now I don’t like fsd…autopilot is the best cruise control type system I’ve experienced but it’s not without flaws:
So far under 2k miles experience with a 2020 3.
All this is minus my bad experience with Tesla..Im hoping they make up for the experience. Hopefully I’ll edit this comment if they don’t do right…if they don’t I hopefully will never buy a Tesla again..in that case.
Just what we need -another attorney’s opinion
Gonna take a while to figure out the lawyer stuff.
Ask about the need to not tip in the CyberCab!
Isn't it more accurate to say it went from FSD (Beta) to FSD (Supervised)?
Having said that, I thought FSD (Beta) was a terrible name, because it meant 'full, but not really' or 'full, but not yet'.
Cool idea to give Uber rides and get feedback.
Hey Andy. How come your Model 3 has HW3 (and not 2.5) if it’s 6 years old?
My 2018 Model 3 was upgraded to HW3 at no charge, having bought FSD. Tech did the swap in my driveway.
@@rsteeb Ah, thanks! Good to know. I thought that I‘ve heard that an upgrade was not possible. Do you know if an upgrade is possible from HW2.5 to HW4 as well?
@@underwatersunlight3795 As I understand it, no.
@@rsteeb Thanks again!
What version of 12.5 is this?
12.5.1.5
I really trust AP in highways, my wife doesnt.
WTF r u talking about? Super charger network is still key to Tesla. If they blocked oem access, they would revolt
FREAKING AMAZING
I am 75 years old. I have been driving since I was 18. I would never use fsd.......even if it was free......which it's not. I can't afford $6,000 for fsd. Also if I owned a car with fsd.....I would not hire it out as an Uber. U don't know in what condition u will get your car back..... dirty?......damaged??......not worth it............
What happens when you are too old to drive?
This car works best on the interstate
These women are clueless. If they knew big airliners land in zero/zero visibility and stop they might be a bit more trusting.
Amazing Tesla
A two seater taxi will be pretty useless in many situations
They will probably need a high capacity taxi vehicle to come out pretty soon. That being said, most drives have 2 passengers or less.
9/10 excellent
Y’all enjoy Drakes.
10/10 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Great!
Oh, you Tesla fanboys are so funny. The Toyota RAV4 is the best selling car in the world right now.
Uber, a greedy company
!!I recently sold some of my long-term position and currently sitting on about 250k, do you think Nvidia is a good buy right now or I have I missed out on a crucial buy period, any good stock recommendation on great performing stocks or Crypto will be appreciated.
I managed to grow a nest egg of around 120k to over a Million. I'm especially grateful to Adviser Kristine Lynn Weber, for her expertise and exposure to different areas of the market.
My colleagues had a good laugh at me when I told them I started my journey with $50k capital and how I accumulated over 6 figures within a span of 7 months. They never believed me until I pulled out my P&L.
I know that learning the ins and outs of the market isn't for everyone, that's why personally, she oversees my investments.
look up her name on the web for her website.
I refuse to believe the ladies were random persons you simply asked to provide a ride. If it's real and these ladies are indeed two actual strangers, then they're idiots as this is how abduction / murders happen. Great demonstration though 😅
Edit: I've noticed as well when it comes to shades my current M3, with HW3, freaks out or fantom brakes. Anyone with HW4 facing similar issues?
You missed the bit of the video just after the robot arm. He said he took his car out as an Uber driver. Then before his customers got in he asked if they minded being on RUclips and they didn't mind. He didn't just pick up strangers on the street.
I do not understand how people fall for things like DELETE ME, you are submitting all your personal information to a random website 😂😂😂
I suspect that you'll run foul of Ubers T&Cs now that you've published this. Or even put yourself directly at risk legally because of using FSD for transporting public.
Are you really picking up Uber passengers?
sell your Tesla otherwise your a weird Elon fan.
“According to Musk …..” followed by a lie. How many times does he need to lie to the fan boys before they realize he’s a snake oil salesman ? Robotaxi !!!!😅
2:38 😅how do I order this for, umm, reasons
0:41 he lost me here
It's always when RUclipsrs talk about privacy, when RUclips is literally when social media is the opposite of privacy.
But it is funny how so many people still don't know anything about what Tesla's FSD can do. Just another reason why Tesla needs a PR department. Being fully dependent on technology is a little sketch? First off, can't people just say the word sketchy? And secondly. we've been fully dependent on technology longer than that woman has been alive. She clearly doesn't realize how many things in our lives are fully automated.
