  • The Mozambique Drill, also known as the Failure Drill, or Failure to Stop drill, informally, "two to the body, one to the head," is a close-quarters shooting technique that requires the shooter to fire twice into the torso of a target (known as a double tap or hammered pair to the center of mass), and follow up with a more difficult head shot that, if properly placed, will instantly stop the target if the previous shots failed to do so.

Heat and Collateral are both movies which were given advice by Mick Gould (ex 22 SAS counterterrorism-wing instructor) although Mick was never badged as an SAS operative he has had many years experience training with pro's like the SAS

"two to the chest, one to the head, puts a man down, and makes him dead"
    First nursery rhyme I learned.

It's featured often in John Wick, the red circle bathhouse scene has our dapper former hitman make short work of a musclebound body guard in a few pistol shots
It's a stylish maneuver but also fairly practical should someone be wearing ballistic body armour

It's used to stop a target advancing at you. Doesn't make much sense to use it on a guy sitting on the couch.

That just makes the final shot an anchor shot.

In fiction, this is called “hard-witch drill.”
It is often needed if a witch learns of the hardening curses, performs them, and then grows strong in them. Still, though - if the witch is strong enough, it’s dicey.
