That scene at the condo was the most amazing piece of pistol craft I have ever seen. The speed at which he presented the weapon was fantastic. Now there was a scene in one of the early episodes of season one where Tubbs fired 7 rounds from a 5 shot .38 with no reload and no apparent editing for a reload. But the scene where the assassin demonstrates his prowess with a 1911 was, to me, the most memorable in the entire series. It had to be uncomfortable sitting with that full sized pistol in appendix carry.

Gotta give it the angle, or lack of, that’s comfortable. I appendix carry a HK45 often. And yes, epic Miami Vice scene.

Jim is a great shooter, but it is obvious that the camera was undercranked when that Miami Vice scene was filmed (filmed at a slower frame rate so when played back at the normal frame rate the motion looks much faster than it actually was). It is obvious because one can see that right after drawing the pistol, Jim's shirt tail drops back down at a far faster speed than it normally would.

except likely not - look at the reflection of the trees in the building glass visible just in front of his face. in both the shooting shot and the mag-drop shot, the trees are fluttering at the same speed.

Idk. I looked at how some of the bad guys were shooting and they looked very awkward and uncomfortable with shooting the guns, almost like they were going to drop the gun.
