i m 43 i started learning 1 motion 3 years ago . i tried diff methods . i shoot in the mid of lifting ball up , i use my leg muscle , i even push the ball but non of the things are right until i saw this -shoot on the way up. i tried again and it was so smooth . i used it in game and i have no problem sending the ball in to the basket . i think this help a lot and i appreciate it . i have been wasting time learnin it and i almost thinking to quit basketball as i failed to achieve what i wanted to be. no one wanted to pass me a ball because i have a weird shooting form . i am glad i have overcome it not until 50.
I'm 41 and just started learning this 1 motion shot this week. The muscle memory isn't there for me yet but here's what I am already seeing almost instantly.... I rarely miss left and right anymore. Most of my missed shots are too far or too short. So to me, this style is way more accurate but requires a lot of repetition to lock down the power for distance
Hey same! Keep it up. Try to incorporate both styles (1 motion & 2 motion) into your workouts and switch back and forth. Tip: for me the 1 shooting motion comes easier right after the dribble so get fancy and let'er rip!

Great video bro, i always used to make that mistake. I'm 5'7 and i was shooting with a eyebrow setpoint to be like curry and that was only hurting my range and consistency. Now i shoot like trae young its way faster and i can shoot deep 3s
@@JezPhipps I know I'm late but can you also talk about 1 motion shots in the midrange. I've really been considering having two different shots but I cant hit a 2 motion shot for my life. I dont think I can get a 1 motion off with a defender in the midrange either tho.
Yo bro so if im 5'7 where should i get my set point? even though i feel like i have good rythm i feel like i need too much strenght to shoot it, and it ends up messing my shot
Some help. My guide hand leaves the ball a bit before my set point so I’m basically shooting with one hand. It doesn’t look nice and I struggle to shoot from deep. How do I fix
JP - I think you’re onto something. I’ll have to do some more research but I think most 1.5 motion shooters are lumped into the one motion shooting category. I feel many 2 motion shooters shoot near the peak of their jumps and all one motion shooters shoot on the way up. I don’t think many have caught the 1.5 motion shooter point of the brief pause on the way up and I feel many shooters fall into this category. Nice job!
@@JezPhippsi got a question man, do i need to pause a split second(or less) on my release point, for example Steph he stops the ball in his chin or mouth for like a split second or like do i really have to shoot with the flow no stopping
Yo JP I love yo vids man. Today I just experimented a one motion shot after seeing yo vid. I been normally shooting two motion shot quite slowly from 3 range and been struggling with consistently so I want to switch to two motion for 3 point shots. What drills or exercises or advice do you have for people who are trying to convert their shot to one motion cuz it feels very weird but feels fluid and I want to remove all the old habits and hitches in the jumpshot
Mmm bro, don't get me wrong, but that doesn't make sense. the shooting ability is accuracy, repetition, consistency, and confidence the height could help in some situations, but not in the shooting in general
I wanna start learning that shot, however, when I’m shooting like that, I feel like I can’t fucking aim the ball cuz it’s going to fast. Please can somebody help me on that point ?
Be sure to shoot you and towards the rim and when it comes to accuracy there can be a variety of ways on missing all over the place but be sure to shoot with one hand and the other will be for support!

3:25 good point JP. this used to be my older , less fluid shot which is why I’ve been working on a 1 motion shot .
It’s a big reason too why many players struggle to have a one motion shot!

Try shooting with a 3 pound ball at the box, and then move outward to the three point line after you've mastered the range feeling that is effortless.

Buddy Hield's 3 point contest has the one motion rising of the lower body with upper body same time type of form you talk about in this video.
Can you make a video on a how to always get a middle finger release
Always get a middle finger release? Just focus on releasing if off the middle everytime.
Put ur middle finger on the hole of the ball (where u pump it)

As you begin to get “up” into your jumper the ball will be at your release point like stated in the video

Their chest don’t face the ground it’s just their hips are loaded. None of these elite guys shoot with their chest towards ground
nba players are taller than normal people, that's why shooting is more easier for them

I don't think chest facing to the ground could have help.
The point is to line up your body so the force could be fully used.
