    I got my insert for Gloomhaven from Basically Wooden in the UK; the bonus is they offer to put it together for you for an extra £30, so if you are lazy / scared / lazy and scared then you can just pay extra and get it fully assembled. I opted for that (I only paid £80 at the time, it has gone up to £90 now) and can't complain about the insert at all, very well made etc :)

    At first, I was so happy, that Rhado's with me while I'm bulding this monster myself, but then he's like: "let's start fast forwarding it!" and I was just like "NOOOOOOOOO!!!" (X_X)

    Saim labs' insert is better cut, no recutting or glue required, costs less - check it out!

    I bought a couple of GMT counter trays for $2 each to hold the monster standees. Stored in alpha order worked perfectly for easy find/retrieval. Separating monster trackers from monster cards seems like it would be a pain. The way you had them before, with the trackers as dividers works pretty well.

    • @rahdo
      @rahdo  6 лет назад

      yup, trackers as dividers was the original intent of the designer :)

    I went with Broken Token. The tuck boxes that keep the monster standees and cards together are great. Also, no weird lids that look troublesome to open in the video

    • @traviswood2853
      @traviswood2853 6 лет назад

      Broken Token is far superior

    • @rahdo
      @rahdo  6 лет назад

      without those lids, can you put gloomhaven on your shelf on it's side without things falling out? to me, that's crucial. the tuck boxes are nice but since the monster sheets are still seperate, it's not that much of a difference. i do like the idea of the player trays though. that's the coolest thing about the system i think.
      but in europe, the shipping to get the BT insert doubles the price of it! :)

      RynoKenny I got an insert from Broken Token for Caverna. Packing up ALL those pieces was successful a chore I decided it was worth it to invest in.
      Also it makes it easier during game play since all the pieces are trapped in bags and readily accessible and sorted.

    • @ronhatch9175
      @ronhatch9175 6 лет назад

      Some of the Broken Token inserts have very similar lids. (I've got the Blood Rage insert from them.) They work a lot better than they look like they would.
      (Of course, for me in Southern California, the shipping considerations are the reverse of those for Rahdo.)

    Tip. Use blue painters tape to "clamp" it together. I went with the broken token one and put it gogether by myself in 2,5 hours. But used small pieces of Blue painters tape as clamps.
    Don't use the white tape, it can teat wood fibers out of the wood.

      The Broken Token for Gloomhaven are the first i have bought, untill now i have made my own from foamcore. So i fully glued it, using a small brush, just to be on the safe side :)

      I own this one and I can't recommend it enough. Gorgeous insert, very practical and no glue needed. The card box can hold over twice the amount of cards added in the game, so even when you have sleeved your cards, there is more than enough room.

      i prefer the GB to the BT box myself: lids ftw (so you can put the box on the shelf standing on its side with no fear of jumbles). plus, you have to double the cost on the BT due to international shipping.

    I was expecting someone to have mentioned it somewhere, but there seems to be no Klingon subtitle either, so I guess I'll pipe up to mention that Laserox is actually in Hungary, not the Netherlands. I was really excited when you mentioned my homeland, but unfortunately, there is still some shipping cost there. I am still considering it very much though...

    • @rahdo
      @rahdo  6 лет назад

      really? on their website, it clearly says they're in the netherlands:

      rahdo I checked, and it seems you are right about their contact address, but I guess they have their product physically made in Hungary, looking at the shipping costs to different countries...

    • @rahdo
      @rahdo  6 лет назад

      gloomhaven's not really a legacy game... at most, it's legacy 'lite'

  • @Ready_to_play_by_marco
    @Ready_to_play_by_marco 6 лет назад +1

    But the game never tells you to rip up cards ;-)
    This is just what many understand when they see the pic on the cards...

    • @rahdo
      @rahdo  6 лет назад +2

      a picture indicating that you rip up cards is in fact a pictographic representation of rules directing to rip up cards. whether you follow that directive or not is up to you. originally the game was going to further direct players in the rulebook as well to rip them up, but near the end of development, the designer 'softened' it a bit to allow for alternate disposal methods.
      like i said, i'm hardcore and stick to the original intent! :)

    • @jand563
      @jand563 Год назад

      The game designer himself said that the cards are meant to be ripped, but that "the Gloomhaven police won't come knocking down your door if you don't rip them". ;)

  • @imaloony8
    @imaloony8 6 лет назад +1

    Really cool box, but between both the game and the insert (and possible upgraded components) it seems like a bit of a steep price tag.

    • @KamranZaffar
      @KamranZaffar 6 лет назад +2

      imaloony8 if you play the game more than 10 times the amount of time you save in setup / teardown more than makes up for the cost of the insert. I have the broken token one and it's helped us get an extra scenario done sometimes with the time saved

    • @imaloony8
      @imaloony8 6 лет назад

      And based on what you've experienced with the Broken Token one and what you've seen here, which would you recommend?

    • @KamranZaffar
      @KamranZaffar 6 лет назад

      imaloony8 this also looks good. The Broken Token one looks like it's easier to put together (still time consuming), and you don't need to shave the sprues and its easy to get the pieces out. This one looks very nice as well. But I think I prefer the broken token insert with the player trays

    • @ericaschaidt8588
      @ericaschaidt8588 6 лет назад

      Kamran Zaffar I thought the same thing when I got an insert for Caverna. Yes it was a little pricey, but the time I saved packings up and the way it made game play a bit smoother was worth it.

    • @joestephtweak7744
      @joestephtweak7744 6 лет назад
