I have played this a few times now and very impressed with how fun it is but also how smooth it plays there really is very little AP in this game and planning your time spending on other players turns takes seconds so you never miss what fun story actions they are doing.
Excited for more expansions to this game it has decent variety but could use more cards in the life event, partner and value decks. I think a pet expansion would be awesome or another way to spend money perhaps a market of cards you could buy in addition to an adulthood deck card each turn

I love life simulation games too. IYO does this game do anything more interesting than The Pursuit of Happiness ? it just seems so similar..

fairly different feeling to me. one is a straight worker placement, one is more of an engine builder. i'm keeping both on my shelves :)

I think it is similar, it even uses time tokens as well. Pursuit of happiness is longer, richer, more involving. This one is faster, lighter, cheaper, so they both can coexist and can be played in different moods. :)

thanks for the runthrough, if you ever get the chance I'd love to see a side by side by side of This, Pursuit of Happiness, and CV.

i am keeping all 3 of those games on my shelf as i think there's a place for all of them :) if i were to rate them, CV would be #3, this would be #2, but that's in large part becaus pursuit of happiness has so much expansion content. if this were to get similar support in time, it might climb to #1 because i appreciate that it's a faster game

Thanks for the playthrough and summary. Only one value being known at the start and having to meditate to learn more about yourself is very clever like much of the game mechanics it seems. I have 2 concerns...
*Is the theme going to feel to constricted by reality rather than escapism, i.e it makes sense that your job is most of your time but i hope the game allows for enough creativity besides that.
*Time between turns might be long with so many choices to make although i think everyone will be interested in eachothers stories.
Intrigued enough to look into it though the theme seems like it will help keep everyone invested inspite of these flaws or potential card luck.

the rules actively encourage you to do the majority of your turn planning when it's not your turn and the game zips along as a result. almost everything in the game can be simultaneously resolved :)

@@rahdo Played it a few times now and you are right turn planning is so swift and easy to do on others turns without missing what they are doing

I had a chance to play this last weekend... I really enjoyed it too! I ended up really happy and rich... but barely any community impact. 😅

2023 was an off year for me. The best games that came out last year do not compare with what I've played this year and, probably, what's still to come out soon. I think 2024 will be my best year of games.
