Eric was completely WRONG to allow this. He knew Lucy was very emotionally unstable at this time, and not in any position to be giving a sermon, especially when she all but admitted to him the day before, that she wanted to use this opportunity to vent about her own pain and anger. That is completely unprofessional and NOT AT ALL what a minister does. You’re there for your congregation, not to get stuck on yourself and use the pulpit as a means of airing your dirty laundry. Eric should not have allowed her to give the sermon, and Lucy was right about one thing, He should have seen that coming a mile away. At the very least, he should have intervened immediately when she started the blame game, and taken her out of the auditorium to talk. In reality, Lucy would have been fired for this, because I guarantee there were people among that congregation that day, who never would returned to that church again. Being a minister who counsels people in hard times, he should have known the way the family was helping, no scratch that, NOT helping Lucy deal with the loss of her pregnancy, was unhealthy and not productive for her. Walking on eggshells around her, and catering to her every whim, or simply avoiding her altogether, in an effort to not do or say one little thing that might upset her, was the worst thing the family could have done. Lucy desperately needed grief counseling, and the Camden’s should have put a foot down and told her she was going to get some professional help. Giving someone space for a time when they are going through a deeply painful loss is reasonable, but there comes a point that it’s time for intervention. People who are grieving and deeply depressed are not always in a position to think clearly for themselves, so when they are not coping with their pain in a healthy way, and self destructing as a result, their loved ones need to show some tough love, and insist they get some professional assistance.
I agree that Eric shouldn’t have allowed her to give the sermon and he knew that she would give her sermon as away of letting go of her grief which he thought was best at the time because he thought it would help her, he just didn’t think that it was going to be with her blaming the entire family over her having a miscarriage. A miscarriage is so much more than a tragedy, it’s like your heart just stops and huge part of dies, because you just shut down and you don’t want to feel any more and that’s what happened with Lucy. She just didn’t want to feel any more because the pain was to much at that time. It’s like when her friend died (not the same thing but still) her reaction was just the same. She shut down all of her emotions until one day she just blew up with only difference being she blamed herself instead of everyone else like she did here. There’s no fault or blame, there’s just what is and what is is that something awful 😞 happened and now they need move forward from it with time, patience, love and family and friends.

My Sophomore year one of the I.E.P teacher told my mom that I had failed my first five World History test with "F"s because I had refuse to go up to him to get my test read, when the truth was that I passed my first five World History test with "A"s and " B"s. My mom didn't let me explain because she thought that just because a person is a teacher they would never lie. For those who are asking, this is episode of the finale, finale season (11). What I mean by finale, finale season is that season 10 was suppose to be the last season and for some reason they decide to make another season.

@RockinReed97 Having her do this in the show does not mean that they are endorsing her doing it, every time someone in this show makes a mistake, it gets dealt with and the person eventually learns the lesson from it, that is the point of the whole show.

I think the whole sermon was a complete Mochary of all the history of pastor preaching the word of God. Then again, it's television, it's not real and neither is Lucy.

I loved watching Kevin throughout this sermon. He saw this coming from a mile a way. Kevin was probably one of the smartest people in the family.
