  • Join me, Zach Emigh, as we embark on a poignant journey of transformation. In this video, we honor the memory of a cherished father by redesigning his original wedding band into a new symbol of love and legacy for his son's upcoming wedding. Witness the delicate process of giving an heirloom a second life, marrying old memories with a new future.
    Each tap of the hammer and careful placement of gold weaves a story of remembrance and hope. This is more than just a makeover; it's a touching tribute to a loved one lost, a story told through the art of jewelry design.

      Hello Zach, question: won't the addition of the rose gold bars increase the size of the ring? Maybe I missed something?? By the way the ring turned out absolutely gorgeous, your work is so meticulous!! Beautiful!!

      @@terimiddleton736 yes, they did increase the finger size. That’s why I stretched the ring to approximately 2 sizes smaller than needed because the addition of the rose gold stripes increased the size 2 finger sizes👍

    I almost kind of liked the "bump out" look of the rose gold before it was grinded down and polished, but I imagine that affects the wearability of the piece as well 🤔 I respect a man who's not afraid to rock rose gold. The finished piece is truly unique - a wearable family story!

    It was such an amazing video to watch you turn such a cherished piece from his father into an honor for him to wear for his marriage. I loved how he wanted to include the rose gold from her ring to personalize his ring. It was amazing watching you work & explain step by step! You did a spectacular job!!! What a honour to have your skills used on such a special ring. For redesigning rings into more modern pieces , do you melt the original gold for the new piece or “trade” the old gold for new? Also do you make the new gold ring or give your design to another jeweller to make and then you add the stones? I love how you can take 2 stones and create a ring that looks balanced, when we naturally like a group of 3, 5, 6 etc. looking forward to learning more and seeing your artistic and technical skills showcased.

    • @zachemighjewelry
      @zachemighjewelry  5 месяцев назад

      Thank you very much! Every single project is different, but the gold is typically traded in towards the overall project. The main reason is to avoid containments in the old gold (solder) that could mess up the casting of a new piece.

    Magnifique. Pour ma part j’aurais fait chaque côté des bande d’or rose un fini milligram pour respecté l’âge de l’anneau. Et je crois que ça aurais été magnifique pour faire sortir la couleur rose de l’or!

    Super interesting, thank you for explaining every step. It’s so nice to see an old cherished piece be transformed and getting new life.
    I am curious - why not add the rose gold to the outside on top without cutting the ring apart? Is it because you needed it for the bigger size?

    Question on the milgrained edge. Could you have used the down sizing tool to compress the edge in before you hammered it? Or cut it off before starting the process? Or does the milgrain tool compress the edge too much to compress in?

    • @zachemighjewelry
      @zachemighjewelry  5 месяцев назад +2

      I left it on for the hammering so that when the hammering was complete, I could cut it away to reveal a flat side of the ring. If I cut it off before hammering, the edges would look warped from the hammering. Hope this makes since.
