to be that accepted in a foreign society and that welcomed is such a blessing. you don't come across people like that often. wow. I'm so happy you got that experience. I got a similar thing when I went to Turkey with my dad as a kid. I got my first experience to ride a donkey on a beach, tried Turkish food and shockingly gained a Turkish grandma and grandpa 😂😂😂 no idea why they took such a liking to me and my Dad but they invited us to their house after making small talk with my Dad on the bus and that was it, the rest is history. I'm still in contact with them to this day, don't have any biological grandparents left alive since the last one died in 2017 (when I was 16, and they lived abroad and didn't speak the same language so I never got to meet any of them).
I hope you and your friends will similarly be in contact for years to come!
