We can call it a draw...but that was one bad ass spider 😂🕷🌳. Im loving the new pot choice. They seem sturdy too which is nice with the top heavy juniper. Cheers Broski

Ohhh!! Haahaa - we have those same spiders living on our porch. Saw one yesterday that had claimed our shed. Didn't tell my husband - want to wait till I hear the soprano shrieks coming from the back yard when he discovers it. Does that make me a bad person?!?
Thank you so much for your helpful tips with junipers. I will be addressing these same issues very shortly. My chamaecyparis act the same way. I've destroyed a few because I didn't manage the inner growth properly.

hahah yeah there was a few questionable shrieks here that i had to edit out!
and the whole cypress type trees are the exact same, maybe even trickier as they grow faster and back bud even less. not impossible tho, just gotta watch them carefully :)

Personally I would bend that main leader up and make it an informal upright with staggered pads. If you’re concerned about being too thick, you could repot it and bring the main leader down to make a fully cascading tree. It would lend itself well with the bends and shape. It wouldn’t take much to get a really decent cascade. Or after a few years a nice informal upright

the main leader is coming off :p ive bent it out to the side for now to get it out the way while it can still causing some trunk thickness, but it will be coming off at some point. it will probably be some what of a informal upright tho, if that makes sense. it will just be a a lot smaller

i had a black widow under my work bench in my shop a few years back, the thing charged at my broom while i swept up. i usually move them outside to let them live. but i squished that one. to dangerous with kids and pets around. ive only ever seen a few widows. but they are fearless

thats crazy, im glad i have nothing like that here, as you can see i can barely handle a simple house spider haha

I put spiders on my trees. I hope it keeps pests away.

i think most trees have a few, but usually little ones that im sure help things out. im just not a fan of the absolute units like this one lol
