You really do work wonders with collected and nursery material. Very creative. I’m looking forward to seeing your spring bench tour. I know you have brutal winters. I’m curious how your trees made out. Thanks, keep growing
Thanks Matt, i appreciate your kind words. I too am looking forward to seeing how the trees do over the winter. I’ll post an update in a few weeks as they come out of the ground. Although I won’t really know till they start growing if any died (fingers crossed) it was colder than usual this year but we had a good layer of snow before the heavy cold which will insulate them. Thanks again. 😀👍
Thanks for the question and positive comment. It changes a lot. If I had more pumice I would use more of that. I don’t think I’d use straight pumice as then if I missed a watering there would be no “buffer” in the soil to keep the tree alive, as it would dry out. I think in the summer I’d have to water twice a day. It sort of become a hydroponic type soil then. So after saying that I have been using perlite, peat, and some pumice. But I’m runny out of pumice so I’m going to try perlite, peat, and worm castings. With adding more perlite to make sure the worm castings don’t create a lack of oxygen in the soil. I’m thinking about getting some bark and possibly using that. Hope this helps. My new born just got up and so I might comment more later once he’s settled. Hope this helps
