As an Australian gun enthusiast I never thought Jordies would take a look at guntube. But I agree that the shorts side of it is a complete and utter mad house
It's comparable to looking into stand up comedy and the first thing you come across is Amy Schumer. There is alot of respectable gun youtubers, like Ian mcollum, bloke on the range and nine hole reviews. Plus just with the nature of youtube shorts most of them are going to be shit.

Ian mccollum is an internationally recognized expert on firearms (and to a degree military history). hes written several books, which are considered among the best on their topics. Jordies, You should do a story on the time when a WA newspaper ran a story, about how prevalent guns actually are in Australia, and posted an actual map of an actual town in WA, with bullet hole graphics indicating where peoples houses who owned guns are, And then One of the locations that appeared on the map was raided by criminals and the guy was set on fire, and had his guns stolen.
Yep and the police commissioner trying to sway public opinion on removing higher calibres decided to buy a .50bmg with tax payer money and against Sasr advice, fellow police and raaf used a shooting range not sanctioned for that calibre to run a media stunt to talk about how supposedly dangerous it was and Pearce Air Force base closed the air space down.
As a European who has been raised around guns and spent the majority of my life in the international arms dealing business.. I forget how privileged I am when it comes to the world of firearms. I'm not even a big fan of guns, never shot one or anything in my life. But from a historical perspective, and an engineering perspective his videos are awesome.
You can't disrespect Ian. He's a legend. The amount of information he's codified on his 'Forgotten Weapons' channel is undeniable. Gun related RUclipsrs in general? It's a really healthy space. They don't have interpersonal drama or anything, they're just hyped up about guns.
Its a really healthy space with no drama, that's why you see them running interference for their gun sponsors every time there's a school shooting and gun control is brought up for the 40 millionth time. Or their collective schzio paranoia that lingers in just about every gun store. Nevermind all the Nazi merch you can find at gun expos in the Midwest.
There are (at least) small amounts of drama. My memory isn't working well right now but I remember a golden moment when a former Marine and Army NCO (from the US west coast) dumped a whole bucket of marksmanship awards on a table to dismiss the drunken rantings of another gun youtuber, who was probably jealous of the success of this man's channel and decided to take him on. It had something to do with revolvers if I recall, but there was more. Also an extra spark in it for almost everyone because the guy who got owned was in the Air Force (chair force). Learned a lot from the first guy's channel. Wish I could remember his name. "Shatneresque" speech patterns. Always qualifying statements. Really funny in dry way at times. (Memory works now: Paul Harrell).

I once met a gun nut, and held a gun. Those are the type of people that would watch the videos shown here. And something that hit me is how careful and attentive this guy was, he explained to me that you always threat a gun as charged. And that therefore you should never cross anyone's with it so it should always be pointed down. That was my first experience with the thing and I truly had no fucking idea what I was doing XD, I really appreciated his character however ! Have a good day yall !!

Ian from Forgotten Weapons is actually pretty good. It's a channel about gun mechanics, and history. He does stuff like a full informational tare-down of a G11K2, it's a good channel.
Not all glasses would work adequately, it honestly depends. There are ballistic rated glasses specifically to protect against your pistol or rifle going kaboom which is a very common thing that happens actually due to bad ammo or build quality of a rifle(I.e ak rifles with cast trunnions)
Forgotten Weapons, Ian McCollum, produces excellent breakdowns of the internal mechanism of a range of Arms and Small Arms, as well as putting them in historical context of developments at the time. One of the reasons many of us watch gun reviews is to learn about potential firearms we going to buy, I'm not American I'm South African so the gun laws are quite strict. Still it can be fun when you start going to the gun range regularly (and doing sport shooting)
It’s just like model building. People like to put together guns. It’s a little machine. I think it’s important that you remember the Owen gun, a gun made in a garage in Australia, that was used in real combat. It’s also hilarious that you have restrictions on body armor because of Ned Kelly because he made the body armor, which can still be done.
Only thing you missed with your own rendition of guntuber shorts is the sarcasm. I'd wager my reputation that half of all gun tube videos are at some level satire. Also the reason we like watching videos of mortars and artillery firing among other things is because we like physical power. Kentucky Ballistics has a video of him shooting a 4 bore shotgun(which is insane) with a bit in slow mo that shows the recoil absolutely thrashing him. Its great. He was probably joking about his near dislocated shoulder for the next few days haha. Anyways, it was interesting seeing someones thoughts on firearms who didn't grow up with alot of knowledge of them or explicitly stated that they're the devils work.

I remember seeing an online tool that allowed you to see details on registered guns by postcode or suburb in NSW a few years ago. It was really surprising seeing how many there were, and how big some individual collections were.
@TeeganLee sounds like a great tool for criminals to target people. An article was posted in the WA newspaper maybe a year ago, with a map of how many people owned guns I'm a small suburb. Then WAPOL had a sook that there was an increase in crime. But WAPOL initially released that information to the public when they weren't supposed to thus creating the problem. We are just here following the laws like good abiding citizens and the government is always out to take more privileges away from us in the name of safety 🤷♂️
@@StayFrostyOfficial How are criminals going to use the fucking postcode to target people? Australia really only 'banned' semi-automatic rifles, and even then, primary producers and pest controllers are legally able to obtain and use them (a minority of Australians, but I digress.) Handguns on the other hand (heh) require a club membership, training, and a minimum number of range attendances each year in order to keep the license, and they can only be used for sporting purposes at approved venues, so you'll find most people here don't own any. I wish the laws were different, personally, but I'm not bothered by the concept of a licensing system. My issues stem from arbitrary rules (no pump action shotguns on category A/B, but pump action rifles on the AR15 platform are okay, empty brass treated as actual ammunition in WA, no semi-automatics for most shooters, but button release straight pull 12 gauges are legal, whatever bullshit Western Australia is currently trying to push through without justification, etc.) Our politicians engage in security theatre antics to appease the gun-frightened majority in order to win votes and appear 'tough on crime', whilst doing nothing to combat said crime, and as a result, do nothing but make life even harder for us law-abiding gun owners who already have enough hoops and societal pressures to deal with as is.

Magazines are basically boxes that you fill up with bullets and stick in a slot on your gun. Most guns have them. Clips are, well, a clip that you clip bullets into and then stick into the gun, with all of the bullets ending up inside a designed space in the gun itself. Much less common, though the M1 Garand, which was one of America's most common guns during WW2, used them. That's the gun that makes the really nice 'ping' sound when it's out of bullets. And I'd hazard a guess that's where the popularisation and subsequent mixup of clip/mag came from.
Because you clip the clip as well as mag equally into a weapon. But MAGAZINE means the warehous where you store ammunition, later a box where you carry them, and then the casing that replaces a clip. Gun nuts are just too illiterate and high on moonshine to use their big boy words, so they have to steal rhetoric from cultures with other kinds of technologies than weapons; human speech being one such technology. And just have an infinite regress of HOW they use them, having to screech at each other to use the "correct" one for this century. Later on their situation just implodes and they start shooting each other when screeching doesn't stick, and whoever lives will invent their own new zoomerisms.
Or maybe, just maybe, it's because of cultural and historical differences. It's not confusion, it's just ignorance about something that is not part of your life. Americans put the most random garbage on pizzas, showing they don't understand/ know nothing about it, yet can't grasp other people don't know things about guns, something only common in America?
you were so close to a good point and then you used fucking pizza as your example. Like playing the guitar it takes many hours and personal development to become a good marksman and it truly is rewarding. Its just a shame that crazies in the states are able to get a hold of them and go on killing sprees, which then in turn gives us all a bad name. And being Australian getting your licence isnt actually that hard, you just need more than enough evidence to prove you are you, a good reason to get them, and someone who knows you to confirm it.
5:05 I mean, that gun wasn't designed to kill Rhinos. It was designed to kill Fascists. PTRD was a single shot bolt action anti tank weapon used by the soviets in the early days of the war. It was cheap, could hit through light tanks and for heavier ones could hit weakspots and their tracks. Eventually they got phased out as the Fascists made tougher tanks, but they were useful in the early defenses.
On why most people wear sunglasses in firearms videos is pretty easy to explain. Eye and ear protection is required on all ranges. You can theoretically wear the clear lense safety glasses like a mechanic or factory worker wears, or you can spend money to look cool and buy Oakley, Pit Viper, or Gator sunglasses that have the same Ansi Z87 impact rating as the nerdy looking safety glasses. As for the balaclavas or other stuff people wear for face coverings it can be a few different things. It can be for keeping identification from happening. Alternatively it can be to keeo hot brass out of your face. Brass casings can and do sometimes bounce into your face or shirt collar. It's not fun.

And I'd hazard a guess that's where the popularisation and subsequent mixup of clip/mag came from.
dont forget, mags have a spring in them and clips dont
Because you clip the clip as well as mag equally into a weapon. But MAGAZINE means the warehous where you store ammunition, later a box where you carry them, and then the casing that replaces a clip.
Gun nuts are just too illiterate and high on moonshine to use their big boy words, so they have to steal rhetoric from cultures with other kinds of technologies than weapons; human speech being one such technology.

Despite what we call pizza having been invented, and popularized in America. then coming at them for "putting random garbage on pizza" like there's some designated way of enjoying/making pizza, that some how doesn't align with the people who made it.@@HaloNeInTheDark27
Hearing Australians talk about guns is always quality content. Thanks, mate.
So let me get this straight, Jordie knows so little about guns that he thinks that their completely banned in Australia?
He is joking lol..
They're
@@adods9824 I’ll correct it when I care
I mean they effectively are, wasn't there the whole thing about banning even gel blasters?
@@bdubbsmost states did along with airsoft, its easier to get a rim fire than a toy, as they're deemed as not having any real purpose from a prude government.
Feed the algorithm a bunch of those over the top cooking shorts and see what you get
"He's wearing sunglasses, he must be a conspiracy theorist."
A “toilet gun” is a very real thing for some people 😅
Also: "toilet gun" is a very good RUclips search for a sketch by the amazing Serafinowicz
I keep a brass mace by my toilet 😂
Damn, imagine a collab between Pippa and Friendlyjordies. I'd love that.
Holy shit The world isn't ready
Jimmies not realising he is wearing eye protection for the gun episode, and why PPE is important with firearms😂
"fully semi-automatic"
See i'm an Australian gun enthusiast i find it funny cause some of the people included in this i actually watch but yeah the shorts side is a bit crazy usually the long form videos go into detail on the weapons more and or the history of the weapons especially ian earlier he specifically talks about wrapon history
feed the algorithm nothing but wholesome family content and see how long it takes to get to a thirst trap
It is hilarious seeing Ian reduced to "Yea that's how I picture a US gun expert." is hilarious considering he's basically the Roger Ebert of gun history.
He's not wrong, but it's still hilarious.
Could’ve just watched 1 episode of Pauline Hanson’s Please Explain and the feed would’ve been the exact same
I think Internet Historian explained it best; it's like holding a big stick, it just makes you feel weirdly secure
with the amount of knowledge this man showed, he is definitely ready to become a u.s politcian and start making gun laws.
Your statements weren’t even controversial. You just had genuine questions about something you knew you were looking from the outside in. Great vid.
I adore gun shorts, same with Ian he’s a proper firearm man.
Yeah he makes great vids
as a Russian, i have to admire gun culture from the west
Ian is not just a gun expert. He is THE gun expert… now do a part II.
Alternate title “I made RUclips think I’m an American”
I grew up just outside the city in Australia so I actually understood basically every reference and gun detail. It’s really only the cities that have no guns in Australia now, the majority of the country and a large amount of towns (particularly inland) populations all still have firearms.
yeah, I'm not really sure how they don't know some of the stuff about their own home but can speak with such confidence on it. And the shade thrown at Ian... my soul, it hurts.
@@chiraedisk702 yeah.... this is the first video ive seen by him but yeah this dude has no idea wtf hes talking about, why even make a video on something without doing ANY research. certainly a proper journalist.
@@zzflare It's meant to be funny calm the fuck down. I like Ian too but Jordies comments were legitimately funny because Ian absolutely does look a little strange, if you can't laugh at something like that you're too sensitive to be on the internet.
Im a south african and I know there most definitely are guns in australia both legally owned and illegal
Who tf claimed there wasn't?
@@kek22219 if you watched the video you would hear him say it at least 2 times "that there are no guns in Australia" are you a retard ?
@@kek22219 yup looks like you are an actual retard, sorry about that.

I will say, Ian goes over a lot of historical weapons. His channel is literally called Forgotten Weapons.
'why do they always wear sunglasses??' Lmao well Jordie, this specific guy probably was because it was sunny out. For real though this is a hilarious video and I'm glad you're taking a dip into the react content and not working your fingers to the bone releasing your usual videos.
IIRC Ian films in Arizona (or someplace close to it) and trying to be safe by seeing where you're shooting when the sun's out, makes it so that having sunglasses does help out a lot.
I suggest not using shorts- shorts often represent the 'lowest hanging fruits' and the most 'trashy' or 'low effort' side of a particular niche, in fact I find this effect is *magnified* massively in the niche areas of youtube
It's ok Jordies, we can't all comprehend freedom
I remember Sega world
@@punishedbnnuy You're goddamn right
@@punishedbnnuyof course a socialist would be against the private ownership of firearms. Wouldn't want any dissidents to be able to fight back against fascists when you come to seize their private property they earned with their blood, sweat and tears?

searched for gun channels and failed to find demolition ranch, how???
Not even Kentucky ballistics
The no handed shooter lives like 20 minutes away from me! Crazy seeing an Aussie watching him
You only have to watch one gun video to be thrown irrecoverably into that RUclips realm. In fact, I think this video might just fuck my account again.
Personally, whenever I see any gun channel, I just send it straight to "Do Not Recommend." That way, it's still there if I'm looking for it, but I'm not inundated with gun stuff for a month.
Feed it fighting game videos. The results will either be the most hilarious shit you've ever seen or completely and totally impenetrable with exactly 0 in-between.
WorldWarWisdom is a history channel and Ian/forgotton weapons historian/curator gun channel. Both are incredibly good youtubers. Dont why you're trash talking them, they're zero drama channels and wholesome
it is kind of strange seeing someone who has had his house literally firebombed seemingly recoil at the idea of owning a gun for home defence
6:24 Hiding your face is basic camouflage. I get that you don't know anything about this, but its common sense that the human face is an insanely recognizable pattern. Hiding your face, even a little, is the difference between living, or having your head blown off by Opfor.
Australians don't need guns for home defense. They will just send the 7ft spider at the intruder
I really want to see friendlyjorides go down the Hololive Vtuber Rabbit Hole. For someone who got this lost with GunTube, he'll definitely be in a completely different dimension with VTubers. My hope is that he encounters Bocchi the Glock in the wild one day so the crossover can be complete
It'll be so painful
poi
lion or boat girl reference, you'll never know
Anyway friendlyjordies channel logo is already tactically placed in the spot of the end card where Jordan's face is, like all the clippers 11:51
Now they just need to sync it up so he makes an ahegao halfway in.
One of the clips being Ian Mccullum is so funny. He is one of the most knowledgeable people about firearms and firearm history like internationally.
7:05 calm down, he said CHICKS
Guns are fucking awesome.
as an american, i’m really glad to see some of my favorite youtube shorts guntubers
Gun lovers like myself get such a bad rep, most of us, and i mean 99% love the history and its use as a tool and in many cases functional art.
6:35 The fucking SS uniform in the background. A FUCKING SS UNIFORM.
💀 oh fuck I noticed it now
Not just one, but TWO!
(& this is why I avoid most gun youtubers like the plague, despite liking guns.)
I'm more scared for Jordie going into vtubers than I am for the conspiracy theories
