    If you want to reapply thermal paste to the cpu cooler MAKE sure your mini pc is not a model that uses liquid metal before proceeding. If it uses liquid metal leave it alone. You have been warned.

    Very useful. especially the thermal paste part, where I feel sure that many who may have avoided attempted the task because of not knowing how much to apply, suddenly hears the words 'non conductive'. Rejoice they may for now they can splash it all over with wild abandon.

    What is the port where wifi card is placed in Gmktech G5? could this be used for eGPU? then wifi replaced by usb dongle or just using LAN for internet.

    • @TeamPandory
      @TeamPandory  Месяц назад

      It'd be an M.2 A/E Key'd slot. You might be able to get an A/E to M key converter, which will give you PCIe2.0 speeds. Not as good as oculink or anything like that, but it is something.

      Any one of these with an oculink will be ample if you intend on adding an egpu.
      TBH if you get a mini pc with 780M onboard I reckon it's enough for some people depending on the games you play.

    Sometimes the fans themselves are the heat issue. Just replaced a fan in a laptop where the bearing went. Temp went through the roof. So did the noise coming out of the laptop. The laptop is 5 years old and I had to cut the tape. Completely clogged with dust in the fan and in the heat pipe fins. Took the other fan out and it was pretty clogged but reinstalled it. They were the same fans but one was set upside down for push and pull I guess.
    The fans are 20 bucks US. I E-Bayed out of China. I mentioned 5 years. Did a RUclips search for the fan model. Someone from China did a ASMR video about 30 seconds long 2 years ago. Showed a box of these fans. 132 in the box. Did the finger crawl and finger tap on the cardboard box. That had me concerned, so I bought 2 of them. The video was bragging about having these fans. My guess 5 years out and the fans are New Old Stock at this point.
    Now on to the tape. As I wasn't going to reuse that tape, I needed tape. Black + shiny electricians' tape has heat limit in the 90 C range. It also stretches (and shrinks). Off of Amazon I bought "Tesa's Most Advanced High Heat Harness Tape 51036 Mercedes, BMW, Audi, VW" on September 10th 2024. And is no longer listed on Amazon as of Oct. 4th. It's a tiny bit thicker than the tape that I removed. It doesn't stretch or shrink. It has a heat limit of 150 C. I figured if the laptop maker wanted to seal that heat pipe fin/fan gap that bad, then it's needs to be done by me also.

    • @TeamPandory
      @TeamPandory  Месяц назад

      I did similar to a Geforce 1060. You can grab fans from aliexpress, a quick switch and all is good. :)

      @dlewis9760 Месяц назад +1

      @@TeamPandory I installed a temperature program now. With the new fan and cleaned fan/fins I know what a "Nice" temp is. I've setup in Google Calendar to check the temp every couple of months. Any future dust and dirt is going to start raising the temp long before something fails. As you said, piece of cake getting into the fans and heat pipe. While 5 years before it finally failed, my guess it was pretty bad after say 3 years.

    So...If you have 16gb Memory on DDDR4...Can you upgrade your mini pc to have 32gb DDDR5 ??, Or do you have to stick with DDDR4 ??

    • @TeamPandory
      @TeamPandory  Месяц назад +1

      @@The_Arby no. The memory that can be used is dependent on the slot. Ddr4 slot fits ddr4, ddr5 slot fits ddr5.
      If you have two slots and 1 ddr4 module is in there, if you can get the same chip and place it in the other slot, it will run in dual channel. Much quicker.
