How to Fix Error Code 0x80070017 When updating Windows 10 or 11
Step 1) Run Windows Update troubleshooter
Step 2) Reset Windows Update Components
SC config trustedinstaller start=auto
net stop bits
net stop wuauserv
net stop msiserver
net stop cryptsvc
net stop appidsvc
Ren %Systemroot%\SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.old
Ren %Systemroot%\System32\catroot2 catroot2.old
regsvr32.exe /s atl.dll
regsvr32.exe /s urlmon.dll
regsvr32.exe /s mshtml.dll
netsh winsock reset
netsh winsock reset proxy
rundll32.exe pnpclean.dll,RunDLL_PnpClean /DRIVERS /MAXCLEAN
net start bits
net start wuauserv
net start msiserver
net start cryptsvc
net start appidsvc
Click the File tab/Save as/Select the desktop.
Name it as Wufix.bat and in the field below under Type select all files.
Click save
Right-click on the Wufix file and click Run as administrator
Restart your PC
Step 3) Run these commands
dism /online /cleanup-image /startcomponentcleanup
sfc /scannow
dism.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth
Step 4) Windows Update/Installation Assistant

Step 5) Update Windows 10 or 11 using media creation tool
www.microsoft....
www.microsoft....

none of the steps worked for me :(
step 2) update got to 100% and then failed.
Step 3) couldn't complete the scan thing
Step 4) can't remember but didn't work and finally:

windows 10 installation failed... ugh any ideas on what it could be?
