Thank you taking me back to the late 80's when Level 42 was "King" and life was a little more less stressful. Oh, to see these chaps over in the States just once...
Yeh this is the best live version of this old track i have ever seen LEVEL 42 with the original second line up mike lindup adds so much to many of their best hits and it has truly revived their second coming long live level 42
They are truly unbelievable! My favorite band! my mom has listened to them since i was a small child and i started listening to them since i was 15 up until now, their music just resonates with me, it heals me!!
Best popsong Level 42 ever made. This concerts is, in my opinion, one of the best concerts Level 42 ever made. Great musicians on tour, also the horn-section and of course, Gary Husband, the "animal" on drums... ;-)) Annie McCaig on backing vocals...good old times... Fantastic!!! Thx for posting !!!
Stunningly awesome, this gets better everytime I play this...all elements of this song are perfect...album and this live version....and a great bassline to learn and play too...
I wish I had that bass. That Alembic sounds awesome. It still sounds like Mark King no matter what he plays. What's more difficult, playing like Mark King or being able to afford an Alembic like that. At this point both are dreams for me. I've been listening to him since the early 80's. Never ceases to amaze me. He would sound great with a washtub, a stick and a srting.
Amazing band. Always loved the drummer and bass player. I discovered their "Running in the Family" record back in 1986 and still love listening to it today.
Thank you so much Kolbola, you're right, superb version! Probably the best song of Level42, very inspired. Everything comes right on time, over a strong bass line which swings. The great voice of Mark, a bit nasal, very focused, with precise tones at each moment, joining others at times "slips away" wanting to give even more relief. As telling a story, his voice follows his bass before great crescendos, great Q/A with the others at 4', free solo flights, great trio chorus at each last sentence of verses. Good drums & guitar, great Mike, great & pretty woman, great intro, all is perfect here, very professional performance, my heart & my body smile when I listen and look, Bravissimo Level42!
Man, this version with the different intros and outros from the studio recording is MAGICAL. Makes a fantastic song even better. It’s an example of perfection, which then got EVEN BETTER.
Anybody checked out Retroglide yet? If your a Level 42 fan you'll dig it! God I love this band, ever since "True Colors" Level has been a part of some of my fondest memories! Now they're back together and touring Europe, I'd kill to see them once again in the states!
great song, great live version too mark's playing on this is great shows that he his not just a slap mechant but is an amazing finger style player too.
a brilliant version of this old classic,,,not sure who played the original lead guitar on this cos it came out around the time that the original line up split,,,,, brilliant track from a brilliant band
well my friend i have to agree with you there ... Annie McCaig s vocals are just amazing ... and so is Jakko J. (dont ask me to spell it lol) .. this song as always been one of my personal faves but anything from RITF is :)xx
a very good live version of Children Say,but the Enchede 91 version of this song is the best thing I ever heard from this band live where Mark's bass and Mike's falsetto are unbelievable and touching.
Martians say come to stay and you will never get out looking like a fish so go and make your pasta and tomatoes 🐸🐸🐸🐒🐒🐵🐵🐋🐋🐟🐟🐟🐟🐠🐠🍲🍲🍲🍎🍅🍅🍅🍅🍅🍅👽👽👽👽👽👽👽👽👽👽👾👾👾👾👾
the last big tour they did...and proud to say i was there! and also the last years that mark king had a great bass sound. the status he plays on now sucks...sound like a guitar :/ mostly treble and fretnoise. but still, MK rulez for ever! :)
Thank you taking me back to the late 80's when Level 42 was "King" and life was a little more less stressful. Oh, to see these chaps over in the States just once...
a great falsetto voice with the keyboardist, a bad boy bassist, great guitarist & drummer, & a great 80's song....captured live! thanks uploader

Fantastic song from a truly fantastic band.
Mark King is so unbelievably great at finger-style that it's (almost) a shame he doesn't do more of it.
my favourite version of this song ever
Such a great intro to this song. Saw them on this tour and saw Mark on his own a few years ago. Level 42 are touring this year (UK) with Mike on keys!
so underrated, fantastic song

Mark King is my favorite funk bassist. :-D

well my friend i have to agree with you there ... Annie McCaig s vocals are just amazing ... and so is Jakko J. (dont ask me to spell it lol) .. this song as always been one of my personal faves but anything from RITF is :)xx

@markymarkking
and John Thirkell on the trumpet!!
Don't forget Johnny!!
a very good live version of Children Say,but the Enchede 91 version of this song is the best thing I ever heard from this
band live where Mark's bass and Mike's falsetto are unbelievable and touching.
LOL, thanks so much for sharing that with me. Good info.. :-)
Thats Justin Timberlake at the keyboard! I'll hope he covers this track up on a time. Great song and great live peformance! Love this band.
Greats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
fine version
Es una voz espontánea, que no tiene que esforzarla, me encanta!
永久に共に
They should have been bigger in the USA
The Original Line up played on this song, they just didn't appear in the video (Probably shot months after the song was finished, mixed and mastered)
¿Por qu´rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr ,no pude estar ahí
WOW
yes, you should already know ;)
He is Mark King.
@martsteve75
yeah and on june they are gonna come to japan too:-)
Cuando será el día que vengan a Chile aunque sea Mark King solo
I like the Wembley 86 version better.
I love the lead singers voice..What is his name? I have been a fan since running in the family, i really should alreay know!!
misslittlemomma ... 9 years a little late but that's Mark King.
amazing intro
I am a bassist and it's hard to do what he is doing :(
@orlandofriend Your not wrong bro!!
¡Así es!Bueno,al menos tu y yo :P
Hi! who is the guitar? Real good intro.
@eat911t what about john taylor??
valt ook niet mee froukje...heeft me heel wat uurtjes gekost om maar een beetje in de buurt te komen
Martians say come to stay and you will never get out looking like a fish so go and make your pasta and tomatoes 🐸🐸🐸🐒🐒🐵🐵🐋🐋🐟🐟🐟🐟🐠🐠🍲🍲🍲🍎🍅🍅🍅🍅🍅🍅👽👽👽👽👽👽👽👽👽👽👾👾👾👾👾

but still, MK rulez for ever! :)
it's hard to play bass and sing at the same time like he is doing
If you're born with it it's as natural as breathing. Trust me, know this one. Guessing you were born with other talents he'd struggle with.
defo not easy
15 notes per measure, sings and chews gum
Mike Lindrup's voice sounds real bad in this...and they don't need the female back up either..
