"Something About You" is a timeless pop classic that captivated audiences upon its debut in 1985 by the British band Level 42, featuring a remarkable fusion of synth-pop, jazz, and funk elements. Mark King, the lead singer, delivers soulful vocals while effortlessly showcasing his unparalleled skill with the bass guitar. The song's irresistible groove, catchy melodies, and heartfelt lyrics combine to create a euphonic masterpiece that has stood the test of time and continues to bewitch listeners worldwide to this day.

Remember when this came out and didn't take that much notice at the time, but I am now catching up again with L42 and have watched this several times and realise what a clever video it is. Probably their best one. MK genius as ever.
I saved up my pocket money, which was 50p a week in 1985, and went and bought this on 12''....me and my best mate Chris used to sing this and play our 'bass guitar' tennis rackets.....we were 13! Great times! I told Mark King this when I met him at a Football charity event at The Grosvenor hosted by David Beckham. Mark was brilliant and had all the time in the world to chat.....wasnt allowed to have a photo coz I was working....gutted! I LOVE LEVEL 42!!
Transports me back to my teenage years and all the people i remember at the time . Memories of mates and girlfriends that you lost touch with . Long summer days and everything was carefree and easier . Take me back
RIP Boon Gould, one of the most iconic songs of the 80s was "something about you". I saw Level 42 live at Wembley Arena in 1987, when this song came on the place was jumping. Why don't they make music like this anymore?
Was it September or October 1985?…I’m not Googling to cheat😄. Incredibly evocative. I hadn’t heard of Level 42 until that point. When Running In The Family came out in 1987 I was all over the album.
This IS music, to dance, to enjoy, to listen, beautiful music. Generation X has lived the best part of music I think because we have danced to the influence of disco music, rock, pop and even reggae, we saw black and white tv and now we stare at a flat screen!! we have gone through it all!!! And having this beautiful videos that remind us a time of no cell phones, no internet but hand written letters and events were relationship were genuine because we met face to face, we spoke with each other.....God that need to come back somehow!!
The music these guys made was pure class. Enjoying this masterpiece in 2024!

The essence of the 80s is this song and those synthesized choruses and arrangements.
This song takes me back to the glorious 80s - what a decade ❤❤
its still sounds awesome after 38 years, way back from 1985!!
One of the greatest classic tracks that's forgotten by many people, who've obviously never had great taste for music.
Até hoje essa música mexe comigo ,adoro ,muito linda.
Parabéns 👏👏
Something about this song !!!
This film clip is genius. Just utterly stunning. The song is of course amazing. But so many cool things going on. They don’t make em like this anymore. Utter genius
yeah im looking for a video analysis in the comments! so creepy cool
Thanks for the comment! I cut it, Stuart Orme directed.
I don't think we will ever get music like this ever again. It had a meaning back in the day
The ever best song and clip of the band. What a perfection, from instruments to vocals. All songs of Level42 are wonderful and timeless.💎
Level 42 had some classic singles mid 80s "Leaving me now" "Lessons in love" and this gem "Something about you" classic 😎👍.
The 80s simply perfected pop music. So glad I lived in that decade.
Remember when this came out and didn't take that much notice at the time, but I am now catching up again with L42 and have watched this several times and realise what a clever video it is. Probably their best one. MK genius as ever.
I am a 80's child and this was some of the best music brings back good memories wish I could go back
The mid 80s, a golden golden era. If you know, you know…..you can’t explain it
I saved up my pocket money, which was 50p a week in 1985, and went and bought this on 12''....me and my best mate Chris used to sing this and play our 'bass guitar' tennis rackets.....we were 13!
ESSA MÚSICA ME FAZ CHORAR !!! LEMBRO DA MINHA ADOLESCÊNCIA!!! .... QUE SAUDADES! .... AMO LEVEL 42
Kkkk Força! Só uma pergunta tens Quantos anos?!

Rapaz, eu tb fico com aperto no coração. Emoções demais.
I'm 63 now, but yearn for those days, so sad we cant go back.

Amazing song and video,Cherie Lunghi was the icing on the cake❤️
This IS music, to dance, to enjoy, to listen, beautiful music. Generation X has lived the best part of music I think because we have danced to the influence of disco music, rock, pop and even reggae, we saw black and white tv and now we stare at a flat screen!! we have gone through it all!!! And having this beautiful videos that remind us a time of no cell phones, no internet but hand written letters and events were relationship were genuine because we met face to face, we spoke with each other.....God that need to come back somehow!!
I love this song.
I have wonderful memories of my childhood when I listen to this song
Isso que era música!!!
Hoje só tem porcaria!
Still one of my favourite bands of all time ever, in the 80,s they were legends, they are still legends now.
I love Level 42 and have done for many years.❤
The song is infinitely good. The video is also fascinating.
