My Uncle, Col. Jean B. LaMarre graduated from West Point on D-Day, June 6, 1944. He and my Dad, Col. W.O. "Frenchy" LaMarre attended the 1943 Army-Navy game in New York before my father shipped out for Europe to cross France with the Fifth Armored Division in Gen. George Patton's Third Army. A few weeks after graduation, Uncle Jean sailed into Guam under fire and later fought in the Battle of Okinawa. A third brother, Col.
