A highlight of my law school career was being interviewed at West Point for a JAG position. Loved the campus. Was watching teams scrimmage when it was time for the lowering of the flag. All stopped and showed proper respect. That is some place to spend four years. Go Army! Beat Navy!---Proud son of an Army veteran who served post-Korean conflict.
"Hail, Alma Mater dear, To us be ever near, Help us thy motto bear Through all the years. Let duty be well performed, Honor be e'er untarned, Country be ever armed,West Point, by thee." "Guide us, thy sons, aright,Teach us by day, by night,To keep thine honor bright,For thee to fight. When we depart from thee, Serving on land or sea,May we still loyal be, West Point, to thee." "And when our work is done, Our course on earth is run, May it be said, 'Well Done; Be Thou At Peace.' E'er may that line of gray Increase from day to day, Live, serve, and die, we pray, West Point, for thee." Salute to our military! GO ARMY BEAT NAVY!
Mr Botto It is a Hymn! This is the dictionary definition of Alma Mater: An Alma Mater song is an official or de facto song, anthem, or hymn of a school, college, or university.
By its lyrics it is a 'worship' song of West Point...it appears, in my opinion, to exalt and elevate service to country above service to God, as if salvation can be found in dutiful service to country. Perhaps someone can enlighten me if I am incorrect.
A nice song. But the creator of the poem should have written "Honor be e'er unharmed". The actual word, "untar'nd", does not rhyme with either "performed" or "armed", and comes across as a futile attempt to squeeze "untarnished" in there somewhere.

By far my favorite Alma Mater. Wish my school had a song like this.
As an "old grad" (Class of '77) I wanted to say that this song never gets old. Wonderful rendition. Thank you band and glee club -- you are the best!

Absolutely Fantastic - Beautiful Hymn
It's not a Hymn, it is our Alma Mater
Mr Botto It is a Hymn! This is the dictionary definition of Alma Mater:

The timing and Metrical intonation of this music is a Hymn
Just toured WP. I am still taken away by the sheer beauty and majesty of the campus.
MAGNIFICENT !!!
You all look great!
RESPECT !!!
Fond memories of this place when our son was a cadet, class 1997. I would love to visit again but with my husband now gone it may not happen😢
So beautiful! How can I get the music score for this?
Thanks for share
What building/hall was this recorded in?
Pretty sure that was Cullum Hall
👏👏👏👏👏👏
At the end of football games, how many verses are normally sung?
1
"Go Army Beat Navy"

More like service to country is the equivalent of service to God. Salvation can be attained.
Here at morning of 2024 go army beat navy game

I thought Glee Club was gay, isn't this a choir??

Why are you critiquing a song that’s hundreds of years old?
I believe that comes under "poetic license."
E’ryone’s a critic.
So incredibly weak. Compare this to the version sung by the real warriors of the US Army.... MEN!
