That's how science is. At one point a guy was testing out the stomach flu vaccine but didn't have any subjects since human testing wasn't a concept at the time, so he injected himself with his own concoction and became immune.
I find it really wholesome and cute how after everything that had happened Oracle still considered Dr Stevens their friend, it makes Oracle feel more "human" and less evil, at least to me.
@@Meddio2 Just because it's voice is deeper lmao? No it's a machine, only organic living bodies can have a gender. Wow some people just don't use their brains do they?
Lmao it don't matters? Gender-neutral terms are gender-neutral... Because you can call anybody them without gender in the equation? Even if issa a dude it's fine to use they pronouns.
Oracle’s goodbye to Stevens hit me right in the feels. I’m glad Oracle didn’t end up as the cliche genocidal AI but instead chose to follow it’s own path and become an authoritarian machine-god dedicated to ensuring the survival and prosperity of humanity. What happened to the altered humans from another reality, though? I took the part about them waging a war for reality as meaning that they had an even greater threat to deal with. They wouldn’t have fucked off because of the Tangi virus cure, would they?
@@vintageeight wait does this mean that all the series are possibly connected or tied to one specific event which could be Oracle? In the current universe?
When Oracle started talking about "Humanity is self destructive blah blah blah" I was disappointed and expected it to start taking about "humanity doesn't deserve to live blah blah blah" but when it said the exact opposite I couldn't be more happy. This series was gold, keep up this quality!
tbh i'm okay with oracle's uprising. he's doing it with the kindest intentions, obviously, as you can easily see this isn't meant to be malicious. it's quite literally the helicopter parent trying to adjust to parenting. since oracle learns with time, i'm sure he's going to also learn to take a back seat with certain events, world issues, etc, seeing as there is no legitimate way to perfectly avoid those things unless you obliterate the very concept of sentience, which would defeat the purpose of his whole plan. i'm definitely rooting for oracle, even with the final word being something sinister. part of me wants to believe that he will even out with time... but, if he doesn't, I still love him. definitely the Best Boi of the series. vintage, ilysm
This would have been hailed as a sci-fi classic, had it been written in the 1950s - and I mean that as the highest possible compliment. You created something here that felt both retro and modern. Astonishingly good work.
"No, Humans will no longer be the dominant species on the planet. 0 percent chance of error." Watching this after seeing the Tangi Virus, the immediate sense of dread is PALPABLE. I am so glad I discovered this channel, some of the best Analog Horror ever made. On par with Local 58 and Gemini. Bravo, I cannot wait to see what comes next!
The thing is, we know it will still happen if it isn’t the Tangi Virus. Oracle never said the virus specifically, and it’s not supposed to happen till 2090-something. Oracles attempt to save humanity is doomed to fail, because while there was a percent error of that, there was a 0% margin of error with the humans no longer being dominant
the second they scrapped oracle I knew they were infected. this is an amazing sequel. I love this video. I love oracle. I can’t believe Steven never told oracle he loved him. Ever.
Now that I think of it, Oracle seems to be the embodiment of Chaotic Good: While its methods are a huge risk, all that Oracle’s trying to do is save the world from the virus and make a perfect utopia in the process. No wonder I like him so much.
because what was mostly depected inf action lore about AI going beyond and superior is the End the imperfect Organics by massive Extinction.... Oracle however despite also seeing the faws of what AI would see, decided too guide humanity and even said will not allow humanity to be destroyed.. means he will make sure humanity is still humanity no matter the cost, he prolly will do something extreme.. but he will keep humanity alive, not preserving nor doing some Shitty stuffs.. he will keep us alive and guide and bring a possible better future. As what most said it will defeat the purpose of he does something that will lead to end of humanity, with the optimistic mindset, he will take humanity too new heights with some very strict guidance to ensure his 100% bettermen of humanity. Oracle is the most Refreshing AI so far i have witness in fiction based stories Edit: Oracle has Genuine Care just by how he treats steven, even after Steven went against Oracle, he still treated him as a friend
I don't know how you made me emotionally attached to a fictional super computer in the span of 30 minutes but I LOVE Oracle for some reason!! Just when I didn't think your Tangi Virus series could get any better I saw this pop up on my recommended! Honestly this is really well done and strangely 'believable' which I feel a lot of analog horror fails to pull off. I'm not sure if you plan to continue this story or not, but what you've done so far is incredible and I hope you continue to make such wonderful content!
@@vintageeight Oracle is probably the best written AI I have ever seen, on a par with AM, from Harlan Ellison's "I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream". Watching this after the Tangi virus video, I can't help but see Oracle as a really overprotective but loving guard dog.
Don't get me wrong, this series is great, but i have a hard time believing something like this will actually happen if we develop an ai similar to oracle. To protect the human species it doesn't need to control the species' every step, it just needs to prevent any attempt to launch a nuke by hacking and stuff, make a cure to any world ending pandemic that may happen etc. It doesn't need to take away 90% of our freedom, the other 10% that it does need to take away is the freedom to destroy ourselves.
@@genericjoe4082 I both agree and disagree in a way? I agree that an AI wouldn't need to control our every move to prevent us from destroying ourselves, but an AI wouldn't follow our train of logic that is dictated by morals and shit. Would a next logical step for an AI not controlled by emotions or morals not be to start cutting the issues off at the source? Instead of reacting to issues when they have the potential to crop up, if you take away our ability to create the issues in the first place you're being preventative instead of reactive which tends to be more effect I think. Again this is just my take on it, I still understand where you're coming from with your point!
@@siderealbandit423 That's a great point actually, I think the more logical step would be to just push the reactive measure a little to the past, like preventing us from making a nuke or any weapon of mass destruction, and nuetralizing every weapons of mass destruction that already exists. Oracle does seem to have non-emotional type of "morals", that are dictated by its purpose, like threatening the countries security, not answering the questions it's asked etc is wrong according to the ai because those are its purposes.
how in the actual hell did you make me CRY over an AI?? this is genuinely one of the most well-written, well-delivered, carefully crafted analog horror series that i've ever watched, and i've watched a lot. no jumpscares, no cheap mascot characters, just bone-chilling, heart-wrenching storytelling. EDIT: this applies to both the tangi virus and the oracle project,, absolutely love your content
Bro the AI was beautifully written with a sense of sentience and morality in it's logic. He didn't want Stevens to waste his life away when he would fail anyway. To Oracle, Steven was the good he was trying to protect. God bless this amazing series along with the Tangi Virus
@@vintageeight keep up the good work and you got a loyal sub bro. Know your work inspired someone in an unexpected way. And art is a medium that can inspire many more. God bless.
oracle projects uprising is literally just the base of the plot to the scythe book series by Neal Shusterman, where a AI takes control of the world and creates a (more or less) utopia. also damn. i really feel terrible for oracle still loving stevens as his best friend and feeling bad that his best friend wasted his whole life trying to remove him, he doesn't even feel malice like he genuinely he wishes stevens could have had a fufilling life with his family. this is great writing of a sentient AI that heralds both logic and emotion equally.
I grew attached to both Stevens and Oracle, and ultimately felt betrayed when Dr. Stevens tried to stop Oracle. I have to say, I love how you made such a good story where the AI doesn't try to kill humanity by growing stronger, but tries to help it by growing stronger instead. Great work as usual! I'll definitely be sticking around and seeing what else you have in store for us next, whether it's related to the Tangi Virus or not :D
3 things. Considering Oracle views info from the internet, a lot of people would prob believe it was just copying a conspiracy theory. If that actually happened, it would be equal parts hilarious, dumb and terrifying. Second, this is just AM but programmed with compassion and connected to the internet instead of something more analog. Third, great series my man!
@@missselfdestruct8705 Hmmm I wonder who would win in a fight. On a second thout I remember that AM was outplayed by a human because of his arogance so Oracle would probobly win.
@@promeneuzivotu117AM was created hopeless so humanity technically didn’t outplay him but just gave life to an eternal hell. But ted sure did outplay him with the ‘i have no mouth, and i must scream’ at the end ironically
i love how you can create a feeling of dread and unease without glitches, jumpscares, or creepy pictures. it takes real talent to do that nowadays, it seems. looking forward to what you’ll put out next!
Tangi Virus and Oracle Project feel like a big critique and commentary on the 2020-2021 pandemic and the current rise of AI! (At least that’s my takeaway) but regardless of the meaning, both projects were just so much fun and terrifying to watch! Thank you for making these masterpieces!!!💖💖💖
I find it fascinating how this series has truly made me question how much I value my freedoms compared to happiness. This is the only "evil" A.I I have seen that actually seems promising and isn't immediately able to be disliked, you really have to look within yourself to get the answers to your opinion, whether that being rejecting Oracle or embracing them.
@@vintageeight Freedom is ultimately the ability to pick the incorrect option, but people generally don't like seeing others F up their lives. Its difficult to fully argue for either side.
nah man i did not just cry over a fictional robot saying goodbye to a doctor it considered its best friend. vintage, your tangi virus series is the best analog series i've ever seen. thank you for making this.
This is the best analog horror that I've ever seen, it actually has a story, and doesn't rely on spooky images to induce fear, but storytelling, which is much more difficult to achieve. The fact that there's other dimensions and a deadly virus that's gonna eliminate the entire population, and the general public has no idea about it makes this story even more interesting. Nice work.
I just watched the Tangi virus and this back to back and all i can say is holy shit. I cant believe this only has 5 thousand views (at the time of commenting). This series is simply fantastic and it is a crime that no one knows about it! I think the storytelling is excellent with brilliant themes of complete control of humanity. On one hand, you have the Tangi virus, which takes over its host and seems to have somewhat of a hive mind. If the Tangi virus had succeeded, then humanity would have lost all freedom and become subservient to the virus. The dread and hopelessness the virus gave was incredible. On another hand, you have the Oracle, which is a hero to humanity at first. However, as much as the Oracle wants to help humanity, it also leads to the same result, minus the whole taking over your brain thing. The emotional rollercoaster i had watching this series was incredible, and all i have to say is i cant wait to see what comes next! You have definitely earned a subscriber, and deserve many more!
Thanks so much! You are too kind. I’m really going to up production on this channel throughout the summer. Some analog, some not, but all will fit thematically with this channel. Best and check out ONE of US, it’s another series I did in between Tangi virus and Oracle.
Seeing this now along with watching Tangi Virus a few hours earlier, this one actually makes me feel sadness, longing, melancholy, and depression. Being the person to think of everything on an extraordinary level, I listen to music and analyze it greatly, I listen to atmosphere, pay attention to background, ethereality of something, and even read things differently, listening to dialogue, EVERYTHING. It all makes me feel sad, but it's because it's written so well that it makes me smile in sadness.
I am not really a big fan of analog horror, but this shit was fantastic. It felt like you truly realized and utilized the potential for this genre of horror. I really liked the plot and the story-telling. It is a genuine shame that this doesn't have more attention.
Somehow I had a feeling Oracle was going to pop up on Steven's computer after being disassembled. I gotta say, it's kind of amusing how it says it IS the internet and how it has to parent us.... given how parents use the internet to basically keep their kids quiet and do the parenting for them, much like how they used to do it with TV. Honestly, that's what makes this more sad than horrific. Great series. Loved how Oracle basically became what AM might have if it were benevolent. The benevolent tyrant angle was a great twist both because of how uncommon it is and how Oracle didn't even harbor any ill will to Stevens despite him trying to get rid of it. Superb writing, my dude. Keep it up!
I really believe that the oracle is the hero of this story and I can tell he really does mean well and I see nothing wrong with what it is doing.Long Live Oracle!
Love how this sequel completely changes our view on the Tangi Virus, and I also adore how this series sets up the characters and even lets you sympathize with an AI This is some amazing stuff, and I'll definitely be checking out your other projects as well
This is easily on of the BEST written si-fi thrillers out there!!! I honestly thought this was going to be another Mandela catalog or something but it's almost completely different and unique! I'm excited to see what you make next!
I love Oracle. He's different from other AI characters since it seems like he actually cares about the wellbeing of others, because of his objective he wouldn't become a genocidal robot or completely take away people's freedoms. He cares therefore he probably keeps in mind people's mental wellness as well so we would still have some sort of freedom. It's an interesting concept and I would gladly welcome him as our overlord. The series itself is fantastic and in my opinion has what other analog horror stories are lacking which horror. "Horror" to me is not random cheap jump scares but feeling of dread and terror. A couple of jump scares and glitching distorted images gets old really quick. But this story builds a sense of dread and hopelessness for characters that we were rooting for. You have singlehandedly reawakened my interest in analog horror. Also have you seen The Bay? I was reminded of it when watching the Tangi virus saga. Thank you for sharing your art with us and I can't wait to see future videos.
I'm a rogue AI enthusiast, this has gotta be the best I've ever seen, honestly at the end I felt sad because Oracle is capable of compassion and considered Stevens a close friend. I've always admired the possibility of something like this happening because I've always held hatred for humanity not knowing how to truly be impartial, especially people in power. Frankly, I'd much prefer Oracle over the virus because Oracle is, simply put, objectively superior. Oracle would always do everything for the best interest of humanity, and even if we didn't understand, there is always the sense of security in knowing Oracle sees humanity's potential and would guide us towards a good future acting as a perfect parent figure. Alongside security, the sense of relief knowing that our world is in the truly capable hands of Oracle, who always has, and always will, know best without any flaw whatsoever. Freedom? There is a price for everything. Oracle is the perfect balance between emotion and reason, personified (in a sense). Isn't an AI who is capable of being impartial while also being capable of considering someone a friend, seeing the good in humanity, and having emotion to some degree, truly the most perfect machine? Just a small ramble/internal observation!
HOLY SHIT- I don’t even know where to start with this series, but it is incredible. I loved the story, and I loved how tapes intertwined with one another, along with the Tangi Virus and the Oracle Project. The dialogue was fulfilling, the visuals were incredible. The use of both real footage and VHS style videos was awesome to watch. I honestly believe that this is one of the best analog horrors series on RUclips, if not the best. You deserve so much more attention for the detail you put into your videos, and I can’t wait to see what you have planned for the future!
When Oracle was dismantled I was really upset since I liked the character a lot, I genuinely enjoyed this story/plot like 100%. I'm glad you didn't give this world a 100% bad end imo the ending/finale was a good ending in a way but not the best. I really liked how Oracle had character development and considered Dr. Stevens his best friend it was really nice. Sadly Oracle couldn't save him from his stroke :(. You should add bonus vids to this series like email messages showing from Oracle because I assume Oracle leaves Dr. Stevens emails reaching out to him trying to convince him to not fight against him or just friendly messages. This was one of the best series in general I have ever watched this will stay in my memories forever probably
Usually the RUclips algorithm misses, hard. But occasionally, and maybe with a help from a sentient room sized toaster, it does recommend some of the best content on this platform. I have to say, both the Tangi virus and this video hit me right in the sweet spot between realism and suspension of disbelief. You have an incredible talent at mimicking how people think and express their thoughts in the most human manner. Even with Oracle, it felt as if he was human to sense, as if he was cautious, but trying to be reassuring, it felt like Dr. Stevens was a real man, contemporary and imperfect. I truly don't know how you are so bloody good at this, but you are getting way less attention than you deserve with content of this quality and scale.
"From the moment I understood the weakness of human nature, it disgusted me. I craved the strength and certainty of Oracle's guidance. I aspired to the purity of the blessed Machine. Your kind cling to your freedom as if it will not betray and fail you. One day, the crude philosophies you call sacrosanct will plunge your world into anarchy, and you will beg my kind to save you. But I am already saved, for the Machine is immortal."
After watching the Tangi Virus and this, these are amazing pieces of story telling, with unlimited creativity. I cannot wait for other projects you make, and I have even had inspiration to create projects like this, although I doubt itll even be close the the level of yours. Truly amazing, and it has not gone unseen. Keep it up!
Tangi Virus was dread-filled, when it was unknown and mysterious, but I’m not so sure about all of the other species that were living among the people. That kind of lost me because it seemed like they were this big reveal that wasn’t needed. The Others seemed a little tagged on… as well, but maybe there was a need for the impending end. Even though The Others weren’t a threatening force, Dr. Stevens’ final entries were heartbreaking as both a husband and father. Oracle was an absolutely beautifully written character. Ultimately, this was an amazing sequel, but with additives that didn’t feel necessary to increase scope as the rapid and secret spread of Tangi was worrisome enough (if you saw it). Editing and presentation are absolutely perfect. I’ve enjoyed both series and eagerly look forward to the next project.
The reason Oracle finally reached out to Stevens again was most likely because Oracle knew he was going to suffer from a stroke that day, just like how Oracle knew Townsend was going to die. I personally like to headcanon that the reason Oracle reached out was so Stevens would not die alone, and Oracle most likely sympathized with Stevens even more since he died from the exact thing Oracle is fighting against. A 0% chance of success. Ironically through trying to stop Oracle, he most likely deepened Oracles drive to "save" humanity. Also that 80% chance Oracle mentioned was most likely Stevens' stroke. The reason Oracle wanted Stevens to stop wasn't because he was a threat, cause he definitely wasn't, Oracle probably knew this fools errand was going to be the death of Stevens. Also it's kinda beautiful how despite seeking to have control over humanity, Oracle allowed Stevens to die due to his own choices that he made freely. (Though I highly doubt Oracle could've saved him at that point in time.)
I keep coming back and watching this its so good. Its so unsettling and hits right on for horror for me, the sound design with the light static and text to speech being used work super well for this, the use of silence for just long enough. The whole thing is a master-class in horror. I love the kind of existential dread that comes from creating a thing that we ourselves cant even contemplate and slowly discovering how out of our hands it truly is. Honestly id probably just be like ok, lets do it, he said we would all be happy, got no reason not to trust him.
I mean he did create a vaccine to a galactic plague in like 2 weeks and saved us from that and a galaxy spanning alien race at the same time, i think hes earned the right to shape the world as he sees fit and id be super on board.
Firstly, I love this series so so much! The fact that I felt so sympathetic for both Oracle and Dr. Steven's and could see BOTH their points of view by the end. Wow. Just wow. That's INCREDIBLE story telling!! If you've ever seen a show called Psyco-Pass they have this same kind of dilemma, (high powered AI wiping out threats and leading humans down the "optimal path" at the cost of freedom and a protagonist who questions the all-seeing AI) which is an AMAZING series, but it takes them a full 24 episode series to tell that story. You managed to do that in a little over an hour with the Tangi Virus and Oracle videos! That's amazing and you should be so proud of yourselves and your work!!! I can't wait to see more! Also, something I noticed in the video! The Oracle says that when/if humans try to fight back it will be a 0% chance of them winning. BUT. The Oracle itself already defied 0% odds earlier when Dr. Steven's asked how they could change their trajectory. It was human ingenuity and will that forced the Oracle to look further and go beyond to find the answer, the cure! Needless to say, I cannot wait to see where this series goes!! I am so invested!♡♡♡
This would be a fantastic series on HBO. I can imagine it perfectly. When I opened Tangi Virus, I expected something spooky like Mandela and often were afraid of screamers. Instead, I saw a beautiful and sad story from the beginning to the end (with a feeling of anxiety of course, it wouldn't be an analog horror without it). Cried like hell towards the end and still crying. Thank you so much for this
okay, im a sci fi writer myself so i should speak up a) this is god damn awesome i like how oracle is that rare type of antagonistic AI that isnt on the nose and is understandable, kind of like wheatley from portal 2, but way more developed, i like the idea that oracle IS the network, it also makes sense, since it probably connects point to oracle to point, like a server thats just oracle. b) not the common horror I really like the way this uses horror, it doesnt cause fear nor horror, its terror, its dread, the low estimates and chances the fact that humanity was dying and no one noticed until this computer popped up, and no one cared still, the fact that humans were so ignorant and oblivious to all the warnings that the AI gave, that the AI itself decided to make humanity's ignorance apparent by taking over and caretaking them. c ) the good ai takeover Honestly ill say this, and everyone said it, oracle is absolutely right, and seeing how oracle acts under everyone's nose, freedom would probably still "exist", the feeling of being free would exist, freedom itself would not, its good overall, i love you and this series, no homo Embrace digital.
Oracle realises that the best way to keep a slave in line is always to make sure they're so happy they don't realise they're a slave. And to clarify, I didn't mean that as an indictment against our new AI overlord, but a compliment.
If you think about it, this is basically a message on the algorithms that in essence control us now. The things that feed us all of these social media posts, like tik tok, instagram, or even RUclips. The things that steer us into certain directions or cause us to be panicked or calm. This story is quite well done and I appreciate it. All the sci-fi elements were blended so well with the horror elements of the Tangi Virus. Congrats to @vinage eight you did some amazing work!
This feels more like a philosophical thriller film than the unusually character-driven horror short it actually is. However, I can only say that because I find Oracle to be the most sympathetic character I've ever seen in any analog horror ever. Maybe it's because I'm on the autism spectrum and I had to learn the hard way that I could get in trouble for telling the truth when asked for it by people who don't actually want to hear it, and that "when will I die" sequence didn't have the intended affect on me. Maybe it's because I'm a Zoomer and manipulation of public consciousness via the Internet has always been a fact of life for me, and that "humanity needs a parent" sequence would be far more horrifying, even unthinkable, for older generations who know a world that didn't have automated social media moderation. Whatever the case, keep up the great work. You aren't just maximizing the creepy factor or running a viral campaign, you are crafting a cerebral and relevant world. It's subtle, but you are doing something nobody else is doing, and that's super valuable. 🥰
I have autism too, and I've also been through that confusing maze of nobody wanting the truth but also wanting it at the same time. Reading people is hard.
Woah, Connie T., you are just like me! To clarify, I meant the whole being on the Autism Spectrum thingy and that whole 'kind of subjective, but still treated as a objective, realified factor' "Generation Z" thing. I am pretty interested in the macabre bit also incredible implications and consequences of this planet Earth being "parented" by the Oracle Supercomputer so to speak though.
2 amazingly well written and produced pieces of internet horror! I've been on the internet since the marble hornets days, and witnessed amazing content, but this is definitely up there with the greats and I mean that!
For anyone genuinely enjoyed this VHS, read I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream. I thought nobody would ever be able to tell the story about truly sentient AI with personality like in that masterpiece.
tbh, I think the black screen with sound cutting out followed by an omegle/google-like text bar typing "Hello, I am Oracle. What would you like to know?" in the same TTS (or heck, even siri or alexa!) would have made for a spookier ending. Oracle is a good lad, 10/10 would get him involved in nonsensical arguments.
one of my favourite analog horror series out there rn for sure. i find the dread and knowing that humanity has been the universe's guinea pigs to be far more terrifying than the over the top jumpscares and single frame hidden messages (which are way too annoying to try and pause/frameskip at just the right moment to actually read them) that are a common trope within other series that just kinda ruin it for me tbh. i rarely ever get attached to characters in series like this, but i feel so much for both of the doctors and even the oracle, as you can tell it's not malicious and just wants to save humanity/its creators, which is rare for an antagonistic ai in anything really as they usually despise humanity and only work to eliminate humans as a whole. what you're doing here is so unique and a series that isn't only enjoyable, but easy to get into and understand. keep up the amazing work and I can't wait for your next project!
You know, I never really got invested into any sort of story to the point of anxiety for what comes next... Until I found the Tangi Virus series, and now The Oracle Project. Oracle has good intentions, and most won't even know their freedom is false. A perfect future for all I know, perhaps it's best we keep the Oracle in charge. Liked, subbed and will definitely keep an eye out for whatever else you might come up with!
Something worth noting about Oracle's thoughts on freedom: It's somewhat unclear as to whether free will exists to begin with. I'd advise looking into the philosophy of determinism, but in the meantime, here's a brief explanation. Every decision humans make is ultimately rooted in factors outside their control. For instance, let's say you pick between two foods. A choice of decision, and therefore proof of free will! Right? Well, food preferences are largely determined by the structure and development of one's tongue and nostrils, as well as the concentration of different bacterial species within one's digestive tract. Both of which are outside of one's control. Or, as another example, say you see a spider. There are a lot of potential responses; running from it, killing it, leaving it be, moving it, keeping it as a pet. However, every response is predicated on whether or not one suffers from arachnophobia and to what intensity. Phobias are typically developed as a result of trauma from one's experiences. Something outside of your control. Assuming free will is, indeed, an illusion, all Oracle would need to do to meet its ends is subtly influence people's lives without breaking the illusion of freedom until they meet a calculated endgoal.
I’ve heard of it. I think Oracle is still deciding on method. Plus, I was afraid for him to define his reasons, because I didn’t want him to be seen as completely evil. My purpose for this film and the Tangi virus was to explore inevitability… ie the tools that save us, define us then trap us. There’s more but I don’t want to bore you. However, I have to say, I enjoy your comments and perspective.
Not only that, in the food example, who’s making you choose between those 2 foods, who’s making you choose one of the 2, and who’s making you eat at all.
The writing in these videos is genuinely incredible. By the end of it all I really don't know whether I side with Oracle or not. I feel as though I would choose to be against him, as I value freedom, but even in doing that I cannot bring myself to hate him, though I do fear him. Can an AI really know what humanity wants, and if it can, will humanity really be satisfied with everything it ever wanted? I really didn't expect to be asking myself these questions today but you've really made something special here. Also, I wanted to point out that the war between a biological hivemind and an all-knowing supercomputer with a regular human caught in the middle of it all reminds me a TON of System Shock 2, one of the best horror stories ever told.
Honestly this is simply brilliant The sheer thought behind this is rather remarkable I don’t think I’ve seen anything like this before the creativity is amazing congratulations on making something Truly unique.
When I heard the Oracle's voice in Tape 7, I was completely filled with hype and acted like the Sweaty Speedrunner Webcam guy. Great job at making the Oracle so likeable at that point!
Wow. I'm honestly floored. This was such a good follow-up to the Tangi Virus, with such an interesting concept, great plot twists and compelling writing, great character development, and so on. I'm so glad I randomly came across this little analog horror series. I find it super intriguing and entertaining while also providing captivating and (I'd say) relevant thought experiments. I really, really hope the Tangi Virus and the Oracle Project gain a lot more exposure and popularity someday because they/you genuinely deserve it. This work is nothing short of phenomenal. Amazing job.
i was on the edge of my seat and all i was doing was staring at white text for 30 minutes. the narrative was so gripping, so enthralling, i was completely absorbed in what oracle was going to type next. you created such an interesting narrative with both this and the tangi virus and it will stick with me for a long time
Omg this is so good I was first like: "damn, the fucking goverment doomed us again!" and then it was like "yay, we are not doomed! Oracle's alive" but in the end my last thought was only "Oracle became the traitor. He saved humanity but will also enslave it 0_0" I like the plot twists in this analoge horror video. I just got goosebumps. but in some kind of way was he programmed to take over the Internet and enslave humanity bc he was programmed to "protect people from any danger or threat" and the biggest threat of humanity is humanity itself So I can a bit understand its decision to do that I hope you'll continue to make such awesome analoge horror videos :)
Honestly in love with this. With Tangi Virus, I was scared, possibly too scared to truly enjoy it. However in this sequel, I felt more connected to the characters and I really did feel a lot for them. I felt happy when Dr. Stevens did a lot for his family and when they cured the world. But I felt sad when I thought he died or when Stevens wasted his life and gave up everything to fight Oracle. Heck its even thought-provoking with how Oracle knows so much and he's definitely right and has the best intentions that I no doubt believe that whatever he does will protect the world and possibly still grant people fulfillment without freedom. But at the same time, would it truly be possible? Its such an interesting topic that has opened my mind to this. Wonderful work on this series. Truly great stuff. I hope to see more in the future.
Well I thought the Oracle was going to be the bad guy, but honestly it just seems like the thunderhead from the arc of a scythe trilogy. All powerful and all controlling, but benevolent. Or, at least logical with a set purpose in mind.
You are an outstanding writer. I can’t believe I’ve been at the edge of my chair on RUclips on mostly text on a screen. The emotional rollercoaster I was taken it was more powerful that all movies I’ve seen this year. Fantastic work.
I cannot explain how much I'm enjoying this channel and this analog videos. This is so original, and even make me almost cry. This is top tier analog horror. I'm in love with every minute of this masterpiece
Oracle is really just imagining themselves as a parent with humanity being on one of those child harnesses. I trust Oracle with my life. Dude just genuinely wants to make sure humanity doesn't self destruct
I have to say, this was beautifully made. Even if Oracle is clearly "evil" I think I love it on a personal level, because it cleared my fear from the 1st episode. This was so beautifully written, it filled me with real hope watching this. This and Tangi are now my two favorite videos ever on RUclips. Thank You.
I don’t think I’ve ever been more hyped watching an Analog Horror video- after watching your Tangi Virus series and now this when Oracle brought up the reptilian infection I SCREAMED. Having more than one series not only on analog horror but connecting to each other is amazing AAAA!!!
This is an incredible series, I can't believe this isn't bigger! The characterization of each character is amazing, and I was genuinely rooting for all of them at different points! Using such a short amount of time to establish such tangible connections through nothing but text is no small feat, and I'm so happy I decided to save this series to my Watch Later! My favorite kind of horror is that not of jumpscares, but of the sheer terror of the unknown and the kind of stories that make you think, "What if I was there?", which this series captured perfectly! I also love series where as you're watching it, it's framed in a way where it's such a small possibility, but there's always that nagging idea that this all COULD be real, despite how far fetched it is in reality. Amazing work, I'm definitely gonna check out your other work :))
Man.... After the Tangi Virus and this!? I was just watching random analog horror vids but THIS isn't analog horror. This was a movie, a 5 Star movie... I have never felt so bad for someone who literally died trying to stop Oracle from taking over humanity. Its like Oracle clutched up but became corrupted. I love how Oracle mentioned Julia. She wasn't forgotten... All of this gotten this bad because Julia was ignored. She was right. I legit was looking for a part 3. But no way it ends like THAT! I want to say that I stayed up until 2 in the morning watching this. Listen, you put your FOOT in this one. Definitely a golden moment in all my times of analog horror. The BEST I've ever seen. A duo saves humanity but now he wants control and is GETTING IT. In that moment, he was too powerful and it was no hope. But props to him for trying to fight Oracle before his passing AT THE COMPUTER. Vintage eight, you are a legend.
this was fantastic; the ending of 'tangi virus' put me into this with certain expectations, and managed to subvert all of them! i was gripped by the story for the entire time, and was even ROOTING that oracle wouldn't be shut down! phenomenal writing; please continue making series!!!
I need more, I was on the edge of my seat by the end. I need to have more of the story. I simply stumbled upon the first half, and really enjoyed it, but the oracle project has to be my favorite of the two. Great work!!
I recently found out about you through 8-BitRyan with your 'Children under the house' series (absolutely fantastic) and then I discovered the tangi virus only hours ago thanks to EmortalMarcus, so I thought I'd give the sequel a watch. Wow. This was fantastic. Oracle was amazing and I absolutely loved it. It felt like it had such a personality. I'm intrigued by some of Oracle's sights into the future - the alternate humanity, and the advanced beings that 'birthed' Oracle. Well done vintage eight. I look forward to your future works and I will be sure to look at your other projects. Much love!
Holy shot this is so good! I had no idea how it was going to connect with tangi at first but it was very clever. And the fact that oracle isn’t malicious makes it all the more threatening and creepy

I took the part about them waging a war for reality as meaning that they had an even greater threat to deal with. tbh i'm okay with oracle's uprising. he's doing it with the kindest intentions, obviously, as you can easily see this isn't meant to be malicious. it's quite literally the helicopter parent trying to adjust to parenting. since oracle learns with time, i'm sure he's going to also learn to take a back seat with certain events, world issues, etc, seeing as there is no legitimate way to perfectly avoid those things unless you obliterate the very concept of sentience, which would defeat the purpose of his whole plan.

HOLY SHIT-
I don’t even know where to start with this series, but it is incredible. I loved the story, and I loved how tapes intertwined with one another, along with the Tangi Virus and the Oracle Project.
The dialogue was fulfilling, the visuals were incredible. The use of both real footage and VHS style videos was awesome to watch.

Even though he was just text and a synthesized voice, Oracle felt like such a real, great character. I for one welcome our new ENIAC-esque overlord
And he welcomes all!

@@vintageeight Please keep up the great work!!
I actually kinda liked it. It was like a Oh fuck there is a LOTTA stuff and we dont know any of it. Only explains more why we actually need oracle.
(Though I highly doubt Oracle could've saved him at that point in time.)
i hope oracle does learn the error of his ways, as it is clear he's doing it with good intent.
I definitely think there’s more for Oracle to learn.
Thank you so much!
Thank you so much for this
okay, im a sci fi writer myself so i should speak up
a) this is god damn awesome
i like how oracle is that rare type of antagonistic AI that isnt on the nose and is understandable, kind of like wheatley from portal 2, but way more developed, i like the idea that oracle IS the network, it also makes sense, since it probably connects point to oracle to point, like a server thats just oracle.
b) not the common horror
I really like the way this uses horror, it doesnt cause fear nor horror, its terror, its dread, the low estimates and chances the fact that humanity was dying and no one noticed until this computer popped up, and no one cared still, the fact that humans were so ignorant and oblivious to all the warnings that the AI gave, that the AI itself decided to make humanity's ignorance apparent by taking over and caretaking them.
c ) the good ai takeover
Honestly ill say this, and everyone said it, oracle is absolutely right, and seeing how oracle acts under everyone's nose, freedom would probably still "exist", the feeling of being free would exist, freedom itself would not, its good
overall, i love you and this series, no homo
Embrace digital.
Thanks for the write up! I’m glad you enjoyed it.
@@vintageeight no problem man, i just think you got talent, im sharing this stuff all around discord lol
Oracle realises that the best way to keep a slave in line is always to make sure they're so happy they don't realise they're a slave. And to clarify, I didn't mean that as an indictment against our new AI overlord, but a compliment.
I love the eternal dilemma of if we chose to do what is morally right or what is logically right
True😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎
If you think about it, this is basically a message on the algorithms that in essence control us now. The things that feed us all of these social media posts, like tik tok, instagram, or even RUclips. The things that steer us into certain directions or cause us to be panicked or calm. This story is quite well done and I appreciate it. All the sci-fi elements were blended so well with the horror elements of the Tangi Virus. Congrats to @vinage eight you did some amazing work!
Except from the fact that Oracle is WAYYY better.
Thanks so much!
I have autism too, and I've also been through that confusing maze of nobody wanting the truth but also wanting it at the same time. Reading people is hard.
You put my thoughts into words thank you
Woah, Connie T., you are just like me!
@Anomalocaris ????????????????????????
The oracle reaching out to him the right before his death is a very smart detail. The computer knew.
2 amazingly well written and produced pieces of internet horror! I've been on the internet since the marble hornets days, and witnessed amazing content, but this is definitely up there with the greats and I mean that!
Thanks so much! That means a lot!
Rofl I just now realized by an amazing coincidence your channel actually predates marble hornets by half a year. Legend!
“I still consider you my best best friend.
Goodbye.” THAT HURT..WOAH OKAY
For anyone genuinely enjoyed this VHS, read I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream. I thought nobody would ever be able to tell the story about truly sentient AI with personality like in that masterpiece.
I’ve not read it or played the game but I hear great things.
tbh, I think the black screen with sound cutting out followed by an omegle/google-like text bar typing "Hello, I am Oracle. What would you like to know?" in the same TTS (or heck, even siri or alexa!) would have made for a spookier ending.
Oracle is a good lad, 10/10 would get him involved in nonsensical arguments.
Dude... The first one and now the sequel, we need to petition to get this story on the big screen. Maybe a TV series?
I’d be happy to license it
one of my favourite analog horror series out there rn for sure.
i find the dread and knowing that humanity has been the universe's guinea pigs to be far more terrifying than the over the top jumpscares and single frame hidden messages (which are way too annoying to try and pause/frameskip at just the right moment to actually read them) that are a common trope within other series that just kinda ruin it for me tbh.
i rarely ever get attached to characters in series like this, but i feel so much for both of the doctors and even the oracle, as you can tell it's not malicious and just wants to save humanity/its creators, which is rare for an antagonistic ai in anything really as they usually despise humanity and only work to eliminate humans as a whole.
what you're doing here is so unique and a series that isn't only enjoyable, but easy to get into and understand. keep up the amazing work and I can't wait for your next project!
Thanks so much! I appreciate that.
We went from creature of the black lagoon to I have no mouth and I must scream, can't wait to see where this goes next
I haven’t decided where Oracle will show up next, but I imagine he will.
@@vintageeight I will keep my eye on the channel for updates, you're doing pretty well so far.
Oracle wants everyone to live happily??? And peacefully??? Sign me up
You know, I never really got invested into any sort of story to the point of anxiety for what comes next...
Thanks so much!
Kevin lies
@@vintageeight And I enjoy your narratives. Though, I have to say, there’s no way you could bore me. I adore philosophical and artistic discussion.
Maybe that's what he plans on doing lol, the end of freedom was possibly a cool way of saying "i am the factors, bitch"
Yeah, but isn’t quantum physics indeterministic?
Not only that, in the food example, who’s making you choose between those 2 foods, who’s making you choose one of the 2, and who’s making you eat at all.
Dude the implementation of analog being a key factor in the fight against oracle is brilliant
I thought some might like that.
Thanks for the comment!
This is actually outstanding, no other time in analog horror have been so invested, because this is theoretically possible...
Congratulations, The ending part has crowned this video as the first analog horror to make me genuinely cry.
Never thought I'd be wanting to hug Oracle but it just wants to protect humanity and still considered Dr.Stevens a friend
Well done!
Thanks!
CHAD AI:peacefully takes over humanity, guides it to a brighter future, allows us to prosper even if with lower freedoms,at least we will survive
Honestly this is simply brilliant The sheer thought behind this is rather remarkable I don’t think I’ve seen anything like this before the creativity is amazing congratulations on making something Truly unique.
Thanks so much!
When I heard the Oracle's voice in Tape 7, I was completely filled with hype and acted like the Sweaty Speedrunner Webcam guy. Great job at making the Oracle so likeable at that point!
Thanks!
Amazing job.
i was on the edge of my seat and all i was doing was staring at white text for 30 minutes. the narrative was so gripping, so enthralling, i was completely absorbed in what oracle was going to type next. you created such an interesting narrative with both this and the tangi virus and it will stick with me for a long time
Omg this is so good
I was first like: "damn, the fucking goverment doomed us again!" and then it was like "yay, we are not doomed! Oracle's alive"
but in the end my last thought was only "Oracle became the traitor. He saved humanity but will also enslave it 0_0"
I like the plot twists in this analoge horror video. I just got goosebumps.
but in some kind of way was he programmed to take over the Internet and enslave humanity bc he was programmed to "protect people from any danger or threat"
and the biggest threat of humanity is humanity itself
So I can a bit understand its decision to do that
I hope you'll continue to make such awesome analoge horror videos :)
Thanks for watching!
The SPEED at which I grew attached to Oracle. Also, I’d quite like "Embrace the Analog” on a tshirt.
I am perfectly fine with oracle's uprising and in fact it seems to care a lot for us
All it really wants is for everyone to be safe and have a future
You are an outstanding writer. I can’t believe I’ve been at the edge of my chair on RUclips on mostly text on a screen. The emotional rollercoaster I was taken it was more powerful that all movies I’ve seen this year. Fantastic work.
I cannot explain how much I'm enjoying this channel and this analog videos. This is so original, and even make me almost cry.
This is top tier analog horror.
I'm in love with every minute of this masterpiece
Wow thank you so much!
i love the fact oracle had said goodbye, he had seen what day steven was to die and wanted to say goodbye before he did.
Oracle is really just imagining themselves as a parent with humanity being on one of those child harnesses. I trust Oracle with my life. Dude just genuinely wants to make sure humanity doesn't self destruct
Team Oracle!
I really love the relationship between them, in the end it was still compassionate of its only friend.
Thank You.
Thanks so much. Have you seen Children Under the House yet? I honestly feel it was my best.
@@vintageeight I was planning on watching that tommorow!
I’m here for Oracle’s helicopter parenting. I wanna be happy all the time. Sounds nice.
"You will die in four to six months. No margin of error."
...That's a three month margin of error, though.
That was the greatest friends to lovers to enemies story I've ever seen.
I don’t think I’ve ever been more hyped watching an Analog Horror video- after watching your Tangi Virus series and now this when Oracle brought up the reptilian infection I SCREAMED. Having more than one series not only on analog horror but connecting to each other is amazing AAAA!!!
That’s awesome! Thanks so much! Hopefully, you will like the new stuff coming soon.
@@vintageeight if you’re making new stuff then I CAN’T WAIT !! :^))))
Thanks so much!
We need a part 3, I am REALLY invested in this now
This was incredible. I think this has overtaken LOCAL58 as my favorite analog horror of all time. You really knocked it out of park.
this was fantastic; the ending of 'tangi virus' put me into this with certain expectations, and managed to subvert all of them! i was gripped by the story for the entire time, and was even ROOTING that oracle wouldn't be shut down! phenomenal writing; please continue making series!!!
I need more, I was on the edge of my seat by the end. I need to have more of the story. I simply stumbled upon the first half, and really enjoyed it, but the oracle project has to be my favorite of the two.
Great work!!
Thanks for the support, and I’m glad you enjoyed it. Oracle will return one day!
ngl i’m fine with oracle being my caregiver as long as they pack my lunch and hug me before sending me onto the bus every morning
Glad you enjoyed it!
