I just found out I have cervical lordosis in a CT scan. I’ve been having lots of pain in my neck and back. I’ve also been dealing with reactive cervical lymph nodes and we are still trying to figure out what the cause is. Is it possible that the inflammation from the lordosis is causing them to be painful?
There is a normal degree of cervical lordosis. Your physician should note if the radiologist report says that the cervical lordosis is too much, or if it is physiologic (normal). If it is abnormal in the CT, the best practice is to do an upright cervical spine lateral X-Ray (when you are standing up) to confirm if you actually have an abnormal cervical spine curvature or if it was only your positioning while you were lying down during the CT. Anyway, you should seek physiotherapist advice. I’m a radiologist.

Hello Olivier, thank you for this video. Do you not recommended tools which supposed to help this like a posture pump? it is a tool which you lay on and strap yourself in then it pumps a ball shape behind your neck to increase curve.
I'm always very cautious with joint manipulation: it's a very hazardous thing to do when you are not trained to do so (and even when you are, it can cause quite some harm - cf the many testimonials on this channel of people who have seen a chiropractor). Furthermore, if your neck isn't shaped properly, there must be a reason for this. Forcing the curve won't fix it, and forcing may REALLY cause quite some trouble. Hence, imo.: RUN AWAY FROM THAT 😅

I may have had loss of cervical lordosis for over a decade now, perhaps congenital, am about 40 years old. Is it simply too late for me to do anything about it? I don't have pain per se, but the last few months I have had a lot of noises when moving the neck, is somewhat random per day. Can feel slightly stiff at times too. What's frustrating is that I don't have forward head posture of any significant degree. Yes, I'm at the computer all day long, but I don't lean forward...
cracking can be due to tendons rubbing against each other, and bursae sacks interacting with their muscles and bones. If you dont have pain nor irregular neck shape, you probably do not have loss of lordosis
@@Edp-jf8znyeah I’d be carful jumping to that. I’d use all natural healing methods. Some surgeries like fusion I feel like I’ve heard just increases pressures elsewhere and causes more issues overtime.
Im doing everything I can to recover and notice my dystonia symptoms have decreased quite a lot as my neck shape has gotten healthier. Im hopeful it will stop 100% if I can learn to hold my head on top of my body again but am not sure because I assume the dystonia is what caused the posture after an accident. Interesting chicken/egg question.
It's often a kind of a chicken / egg question indeed. But the way we tackle is by not caring about the causality 😂 ... or almost not. Actually, we try to limit the time we waste on trying to analyze; as soon as we know enough we define a hypothesis, we focus on where we can intervene and wait to see the results. If nothing changes, we change the hypothesis.
@@grannyjone hey friend think some of what’s working for me might help you too. In my case I had to learn new ways to use my eyes and neck together to give me the option of correcting the curve but as I have more cooperative muscle, I’ve been using something I have called a posture pump to help with the reversed curves in my neck and lumbar spine. I’ve been using it very conservatively to keep from getting neurologically sick because of how screwed up everything is from the curve reversal. Even with how bad my neck structure was and even being told I’d never recover ... I’m getting over the movement disorder and my neck is actually starting to straighten out. It’s been a year long endeavor but my whole spine is in much better shape. Much less hunchbacked, much less twisted up, spine has strength to hold me up etc. starting to see no reason I won’t get my lordosis back. if I could do it with dropped head syndrome, it’s definitely possible for anyone to recover. A planet fitness membership was a far better investment than any money I gave to doctors 👍 That posture pump can be simulated with a towel actually. Held behind the head while you work on the “yes/no” motion is your neck. Then the trick for me is staying active and looking for opportunities to hold my head up differently . Think gym, dance, hiking barefoot... whatever. I also benefit a lot from chiropractic care but only since I started going to someone very conservative who actually doesn’t do much with my neck. He mostly tries to get the upper back just a little looser so I can let my brain heal the neck the way it knows best. It’s a slower approach for me but it is definitely working!
@@nadaghazawy7068 I saw a few people over the years and think the neck work really made my neurological stuff worse. The guy I use now is real cautious around my neck and doesn’t do much with it. Works much better for me anyway
Can loss of lordosis cause muscle spasms to flare up all the time, my pains are more of a dull ache down one side and I think they are musclar as I believe nerve pains are usually sharp rather than dull aches ? The physio also says it's muscle spasms. I've been having this for 8+ years.
If I can still do neck bridges my posterior neck muscles aren't to weak. I've had no injury to my neck or head. My doctor thinks it's due to my lumbar Injuries. But I have military neck with bones spurs and am having severe nerve problems going to my left arm and hand especially. What else could have caused this?
Tinnitus has many causes... but one of them is the masseter muscle (www.triggerpoints.net/muscle/masseter) which suffers from forward head posture and upper trapezius strain. Both are typically involved with straight neck. So we could imagine that both are interrelated, indeed...
I have been seeing a Chiropracter for neck and shoulder pain (one-sided, always one side or the other) caused by loss of Lordosis after spending years already working on elimating forward head posture and physio. The Chiropracter just wants to perform adjustments every time, 3 times a week, and little else, and suggests carrying on with adjustments indefinetely until there is improvement. However, it has gone worse, the symptoms are now aggravated more easily, but the chiropractor still suggests on going adjustments. Can chiropractic adjusts cause damage to military neck ? I have told him about what this video is saying but he just replied with something like "I have had patients come here with a straight neck and had over 100 adjustments and done well". I have had nowhere near that many to the neck so far, maybe just 10 or so, but I'm worried I might be making it worse in the longer term. But I have tried everything else and nothing worked, and the chiropractor is like a last resort
Try looking at overall spine balance, muscle strength or mobility deficits. The forward head posture may only be the symptom of other imbalances elsewhere. If those are correctly identified and addressed appropriately, it may help with your neck and shoulder issues. You can be 'over-adjusted' from frequent adjustments. Joints can get hypermobile and it will cause more issues. Do not allow yourself to be pressured into continuing treatment. Your body is already telling you it's worse. Trust your instincts. I get that this is already the last resort treatment. But you gotta be willing to walk away if it's not helping.
I was diagnosed with the following: "Straightening of expected cervical lordosis may be due to paraspinal muscle spasm or positioning. Otherwise, normal MRI of the cervical spine ." Any idea how I can fix that? I've been going to my PT but all the things that they do (massage therapy, heat therapy, stretches, etc.) have not been working. I've been thinking about doing epidural injections but not sure if that is too extreme for my case. Can you share your opinion? Thanks!
Hello. I’m a radiologist and I work with MRI. Any apparent loss of normal neck posture observed in a MR (when the patient is lying down) should be confirmed by an upright lateral X-Ray (when the patient is standing up), or even better, an evaluation of a physiotherapist. Take care!

If you dont have pain nor irregular neck shape, you probably do not have loss of lordosis
surgery perhaps
@@Edp-jf8znyeah I’d be carful jumping to that. I’d use all natural healing methods. Some surgeries like fusion I feel like I’ve heard just increases pressures elsewhere and causes more issues overtime.
Hi doc. Is it possible to bring back cervical curve once it is lost?
sure thing. Denneroll fixed probably milions of lost curves. I recovered my cervical and even thorasic spine.
@@Pavel_FrantaHi sir. What did you do?..
@Pavel_Franta, what's denneroll?
I've had no problems since you did this, none whatsoever, if you can help me you can help anybody
How did you get your neck shape better ? Mine has been completely straight for at least 8+ years. Did you do lordosis correction exercises ?
A planet fitness membership was a far better investment than any money I gave to doctors 👍
That posture pump can be simulated with a towel actually.
Did you see an upper cervical chiropractor?
@@nadaghazawy7068 I saw a few people over the years and think the neck work really made my neurological stuff worse.
The guy I use now is real cautious around my neck and doesn’t do much with it. Works much better for me anyway
Can loss of lordosis cause muscle spasms to flare up all the time, my pains are more of a dull ache down one side and I think they are musclar as I believe nerve pains are usually sharp rather than dull aches ? The physio also says it's muscle spasms. I've been having this for 8+ years.
Hi, have you found a way to overcome this problem? I'm in the same situation
Hello. Me too. Sometimes I feel depressed. Cos I don't feel normal as before.
No, I saw a Chiropractor and he took over £5000 off me very quickly but am no better at all
Also vallium help while recovery therapy
Genius you are
Unfortunately this isnt a quick fix for me
If I can still do neck bridges my posterior neck muscles aren't to weak. I've had no injury to my neck or head. My doctor thinks it's due to my lumbar Injuries. But I have military neck with bones spurs and am having severe nerve problems going to my left arm and hand especially. What else could have caused this?
different muscles for gross and fine motion, compression of brachial plexus can cause numbs
Is tinnitus a symptom of straight neck?
But you gotta be willing to walk away if it's not helping.
thanks❤
I was diagnosed with the following: "Straightening of expected cervical lordosis may be due to paraspinal muscle spasm or positioning. Otherwise, normal MRI of the cervical spine
." Any idea how I can fix that? I've been going to my PT but all the things that they do (massage therapy, heat therapy, stretches, etc.) have not been working. I've been thinking about doing epidural injections but not sure if that is too extreme for my case. Can you share your opinion? Thanks!
Hello. I’m a radiologist and I work with MRI. Any apparent loss of normal neck posture observed in a MR (when the patient is lying down) should be confirmed by an upright lateral X-Ray (when the patient is standing up), or even better, an evaluation of a physiotherapist. Take care!
Hello. How are you now?..
@@Lian-ez8gx The same. No difference. Had another MRI and they said I now have two minor disc bulges in my cervical spine..
