Levi Ackerman is a fan favorite for obvious reasons: Badass demeanor, cool looking, talented and also known as humanity’s strongest soldier. But Levi Ackerman is a lot more than just a high power-level character. Hajime Isayama / Gun Snark did an incredible job laying out Levi’s backstory in two extremely concise and impactful episodes in the OVA titled: A Choice with No Regrets. The events from those 2 episodes gave us a deeper look into Levi’s character and showed us how his tragic past and hardships molded him into the badass captain that we are all familiar with
Today, we're going to go over how Levi’s painful past brought upon him three valuable lessons that have shaped his way of thinking as humanity’s strongest soldier and for each lesson, I’m going to describe how they can be applied in real-life.
Spoiler alert, this video contains scenes up to Season 4/End of Season 3 so if you haven’t kept up with the anime, please don’t watch this as you will miss out on the emotional roller coaster that Attack on Titan is! Feel free to let everyone know in the comments below what YOUR favorite moments of Levi are!
*Correction: A Choice With No Regrets was written by Gun Snark as a spinoff of Hajime Isayama's Attack on Titan.

Levi is such a good teacher for Eren too throughout the story he keeps telling eren to make choices and he says I don’t know which choice is the right one. but he encourages eren to stand behind whatever he chooses, teaches him to keep living with the consequences.
which is something he himself learned from erwin!

🙏 Thanks for watching Nathan!
@@AboveWill Thanks for making the video after some of us requested it in the Erwin leadership video!
This statement is actually made by Friedrich Nietzsche.
Answer : there is no meaning, except the meaning that we create
true
Is it weird that fictional characters inspire (sometimes actually succeed in shaping) me more than real life human beings?
Btw the pronunciation of "Erwin" is "Air-veen".
Not at all.
I completely relate.
Fictional characters can be very inspirational if written properly.
The reason they are more inspiring than real life human beings, in my opinion, is because we usually don't get many moments of inspiration from regular people in our daily lives.
Works of fiction showcase inspirational moments much more than in our lives, so it is very understandable to feel inpired and related to the moments & characters involved.
AOT specifically is very inspiring in many moments, because it is written so brilliantly by Isayama
tsakibubis After reading your explanation, I think you’re absolutely right! This makes me feel really good about it. So thank you 😉
Of course, I do want to be as physically strong as Levi, but I want his mental strength at least 10 times more.
@@louiekim824
For sure dude.
We all would want to be as badass as Levi, physically & especially mentally 😉
But, even though he's a fictional character, think of how much pain he went through to become that tough.
Pain makes us grow, if we choose to accept it and learn from it.
Glad my comment was helpful!
tsakibubis 🤗⚔️
Yeah anyone who thinks Levi is cold hasn’t been paying attention to him. I rewatched the show in the Dub because I got bored. There is a scene in the first season where he comforts a dying soldier. He tells him how brave he was and how his death meant a lot. He takes time to give this guy a farewell when most would have put pressure on the wound and get him to a medic without ever talking to the victim.
Agreed!
Exactly my guy
You mean exactly like what was brought up in the video?...
Levi on very occasion shows his humanity side which people didn't noticed
To me I thought he was cold but his eyes says a lot about how he feels levi expresses his emotion much better when he is fighting you or being physical with you for me I believe he was cold hearted and of course they will be people that will think he is cold hearted because of the way they might perceive him but for me I still think he hates eren
Well i think one more moment from the anime that shows how deep empathy Levi has is how he was disappointed when he knew titans were actually human beings
Very true! I missed that one! Thanks for watching 🙏
The pain in his eyes really got me crying. And Hange kept telling him that it's not yet confirmed that titans are humans for Levi's sake but Hange was also thinking about how they experimented on Sawney and Bean.
@@camilleshiii5880 What episode was that? I can't remember the scene :(
@@cinnamonstix8196 I think that it was one of the last episodes of season 2.

I love how Levi turns from the hunted to the hunter when his friends die and he finally becomes strong enough to be able to protect the ones that matter to him and almost succeeds in this goal
Well written character indeed!
Who does he want to protect? It's his comrades I'd assume
Levi lost many people in his life yet he still stays strong ....this is why he should have my respect
Thanks for watching 🙏
"Some old wounds never truly heal, and bleed again at the slightest word."

@@ImnHazzz hey Sasuke has motivations too. He is also a very cool character.
@@emmas6367 im referring to the edgy one
@14:17 great job pointing out that subtle characterization: Levi grabbing his dying comrade’s bloody hand despite having a high level of disgust sensitivity. We’re shown that his compassion trumps his own self-interest. It’s this selflessness, which reinforces his place as humanity’s strongest soldier and as a leader among the scouts. You gotta pay attention to notice that, and I’m glad you did for this analysis
Glad you caught this little subtle moment too! Thanks for watching and appreciate your support Reyne ✌️
@@AboveWill on first watch, at that moment, I decided this is good writing 😎
I’m not going to lie, when I first watched AOT at 16, Levi’s philosophy of living without regrets deeply affected me, and is something that’s stuck with me ever since.
This is facts. Pain can make u got 2 ways. Either u grow from it or u drown in it. Coming from someone that’s been through a lot it really made me who I am today. I’m stronger because of all the pain. If u dwell on it U become traumatized which just consumes you. I learned how to be cleaner and stronger from Levi. I know he’s a fictional character but who says u can’t learn from them.
Fictional characters can definitely inspire us all! Appreciate you sharing your experience 🙏
If he was just another badass character, I wouldn't have paid him much attention. I know badassness is probably how he gets that ridiculously large fanbase of his, but I only like him because of his high level of empathy.
Great to hear! He definitely has a large fanbase mainly from his character design, but he has more depth than most give him credit for.
i can relate this to my story, my junior died from accident, my sister died from seizure , my cousin died from heart attack and my father died from cancer. and throughout this moment, i saw many deaths of people who loved me for 20 years of age. it hurt so bad honestly, but I can't change the fact that they're long gone and i have no power to control everything. so i had to move forward and not regretting everything. and that made me a better person, and stronger than before. ♥️
*sorry for grammatical error 🤣
I love you ❤️
Such a Strong Person 😇🙏🏻

Levi taught me to live with my decisions and learn from it
Agreed! Thanks for watching Drannel
initially I thought I was just a levi fangirl ( who could blame me), however I realize I just felt very represented by levi, having grown up in a horrible place, lost my twin brother and grew up with this immense feeling of regret and ''what ifs'' I completely felt such a level of sympathy to levi, and how someone can choose to continue on living, and stand by his morals even with a past like this , I think he's a juxtapose to Eren, that took his trauma and used it as the reasoning to his actions as morally ambiguous as they might seem. I also always struggle with this, this is an incredible manga! trully such well written characters.
Levi as a character perfectly describes stoicism
Levi is such a kind hearted person but doesn't show it.....Levi is my fav. Character..and I'm not going to regret choosing him💜
That was a damn good video, I'd love to see you tackle Reiner Braun's character

Levi reminds me of kakashi because Isabel and Ferlan were like rin and obito and they died and kakashi and Levi started to rage.

When Side character give the more meaningful life lesions then MC
Unfortunately Levi Ackerman isn't as present in the final season which is a shame, there's more of a focus on humanity and human nature instead, and Ackerman's impact isn't as informative as the presentation you gave is. However I like these lessons and will look back at them from time to time, I appreciate that you took the time to analyze Ackerman in detail.
I agree! After reading the manga, I was disappointed in that fact. Levi is still a beloved character and I appreciate your insight and comments. Thanks for watching Ollicron! 🙏
I really struggle with being confident with decisions I make in my life. Like I rely on people for validation and for making choices for me. And I think of bad things that could happen in the future. Like I think of worse case scenarios. And I question myself with actions I make. So this video helps me to be more assertive, not regret choices and believing myself based on experience
Love to hear this. This is why I love making these little videos!
I recommend also watching Jean Is [Not] A Horse if you haven't watched it. It's an analysis video about how Jean learns to leave the confort and safety he's used to and makes his own choices to become a hero.
Nothing can stop me from watching the series over and over

You've elaborated it so well. I tend to seek others to make decisions for me in the fear of making wrong one's or because of past regrets. But you are right, if I'm not going to make decisions for myself I'll never learn. No one is that dependable or sincere. Thank you.

when historia punched levi on the arm @14:52 you can see some smoke... you know, the same kind when the deep sea king took a swing at saitama's bald head. THAT, is how strong levi is
They don't call him Humanity's strongest soldier for nothing! Haha thanks for watching Kai ✌️
Minor mistake: No Regrets was written by Gun Snark, not Hajime Isayama. Otherwise great video, thanks! :D

5 Lessons from Eren (AoT S4)
1. Declare war on the enemy. The greater and more polarizing you can make the enemy, the easier and more capable of dominating them in a fight you can make them.
2. Remain objective and unemotional. By putting his emotions aside, Eren is able to focus on his purpose in Marley without letting his emotions of who he was fighting get in the way of his resolve.
3. Analyze the enemies weakness. Eren is constantly assessing and learning from the enemies he faces, and discovering or exploring their weaknesses in order to get the information he desires.
Thanks for sharing Val! Eren is most definitely another complex character so I'm more than happy to see your suggested points! 🙏
